"Ha," I chuckled out. "Saint Lander, he'll love that." Ethan laughed a little with me as the anger faded and Levi stirred again. Lander faded back in and stirred as well. "We're all good here guys," he said. "Lander keep your ass here," Levi grumbled out. "Ethan, Levi says the letters have no names?" Ethan shook his head, "None, they don't have a scent. I think that rock sucked it all up or they are just really old and it's faded over time. Could be both." "Could we ever get the scent out of the rocks?" I asked. Lander stirred. "I don't know girly," he said slowly. "I'll ask the witches, if we could that would be a damn miracle." "In your damn tree house," Levi muttered furiously. "You were sixteen goddammit! What is he going to do, say some sixteen-year-old killed half his family and pack!? That piece of–" "Levi!" Lander barked out. "Enough, you're not helping. Calm the hell down." Ethan had shut his eyes and was trying to push his beast back. It was bullshit and a low move, even for Thomas. "He must have been scared, or desperate to do that," I thought out loud. "I wonder if someone was onto him back then?" "Maybe girl, we'll have to look into that. Where is the box now?" Lander asked calmly. "In my safe," Ethan breathed out. "Evan knows, he's checking our cabin and he and Ryder and going to check Chars. I'll comb through my office as well Monday." "I know I don't need to say this, but we need to move fast and under the radar," Levi said as calmly as he could. "I know uncle," Ethan replied. "We'll let you know if we find anything else, but Levi, if he forces me into a corner, I'm more than likely going to accept that challenge." "I don't blame you, I wouldn't expect you not to. Just make sure one of you two links me. And Ethan?" "Yes?" "If that does happen, then you better make his ass suffer boy. For a long ass time. At least long enough until I can get there and show him that the Devil himself can look like a saint compared to what I will be doing." I shuddered as Ethan's eyes swirled a little darkly. "You don't need to tell me uncle, he doesn't get a quick death." "There's more Levi," I added cautiously. He was quiet. Ethan stilled and looked up at me, giving me a half-smile of encouragement before we could feel Levi stir again. "Alright, let's hear it then." I kissed Ethan's forehead and nodded. "We left something out yesterday, about what we saw at the tree." "Why?" Levi asked slowly with annoyance dripping in his tone. "Both Char and I felt, I don't know, like we shouldn't say it with so many ears in that room. It was weird Levi, it was like we felt like we had to protect it." "Why? What was it?" Lander breathed out quickly. Ethan sighed a little. "Before each of them were executed, my father, Eli, and Lucas, they said something to us–they actually spoke to us. It was like they knew we were there. Eli told me 'it's your pack now brother,' and Dad told me 'take care of our pack son.'" "Lucas looked at me and spoke to me Levi, he said 'look after our father sister.' He said 'our father' like he knew, like he had been watching everything unfold this whole time," I said. Ethan rested a hand on my leg and started to draw tiny circles on it, calming my heart that couldn't handle the memory of Lucas looking back at us. "He also said to Thomas, 'I cannot wait for the ass beating that my father is going give you,'" I said with as the memory of Lucas fighting with Levi made my lips want to twitch into a smile. Lucas was so like him in every way. Levi sighed while Lander stirred. "That's insane," Lander breathed out. "No, it's not. Well, it is, but it makes sense," Levi said a little warily. "Before your dad challenged his father, he told me he had all these dreams about it. Did he ever tell you or Eli?" "No, maybe Eli, but Eli never mentioned anything to me," Ethan replied. "Well, he came to me one day. We were supposed to spar, we did that about every few weeks mostly for bragging rights and beers, as in the loser owed the other beer. Anyways, he was so worked up. I've never seen him like that before. We didn't fight that day, we just talked the whole time. For the last year-ish, your dad had been getting anxious, getting an ancy as hell." "About what? What was wrong?" Ethan asked. "Nothing," Levi quickly answered, "Well, sort of. He was starting to feel the challenge brewing between him and your grandad. It was like he had something that was pulling at him, telling him it was time, it was his time. I had something similar before I challenged my dad, I remember feeling that way in some form. Used to drive Lander crazy." "You still drive me crazy," Lander chuckled. Levi growled a little while my lips twitched into a smile. "Anyways, he mentioned that to me before but this time was different. Apparently, he had some crazy dream, or had some crazy dreams, about your great grandfather Ezra. Apparently Ezra, in different scenarios, had told your father that it was his time. That he needed to take the pack." "What?" Ethan breathed out as his eyes got a little bigger. "I know. It much of been a hell of a dream because it really shook your dad up. He wasn't sure of what to make of it," Levi replied. "What did you tell him?" I added curiously. "That he had an ass beating he needed to deliver girly," Levi said in a tone that I knew was coming from a smug smirk on his face. Ethan shook his head with wide eyes. "Do you think it's the same?"
