Chapter 44 Crossing the line!

Chapter 44 Crossing the line!
|| Author POV ||

The next morning.

Rosa got ready for the exam. She remembered falling asleep in his car last night and waking up in her bed this morning.

When she stood infront the mirror, one thing kept replaying in her mind like a maddening rhythm. He had kissed her.

She couldn’t forget it even for a second. And the way his lips felt against hers.

She headed downstairs, she didn’t feel like eating. Maybe just a glass of juice would do.

As she approached the dining table, her steps faltered. Her gaze drifted toward the joined kitchen.

Killian was standing by the fridge, tilting his head back as he drank straight from a water bottle, gulping it down in one go. The muscles in his throat shifted with each gulp.

Rosa stood frozen, her breath catching when her gaze dropped to the long black bathrobe hanging off his sculpted frame, damp at the collar.

He was freshly showered. Rosa’s cheeks burned at the thought.

Sensing a presence, Killian turned around. His sharp gaze met hers. Blue collided with lavender.

Rosa flinched under his gaze. Her heart pounded against her ribs like it wanted to escape.
Unable to hold eye contact, she turned away and quickly headed toward the main door.

Her cheeks were still burning. She’s still upset with him. She barely made it two steps.

“Aah—!”

A startled gasp slipped from her lips as two large hands suddenly wrapped around her waist from behind. In one swift motion, he lifted her off the ground.

Rosa felt like a doll when Killian lifted her and placed her on top of the glass dining table. Her wide eyes snapped up to meet his.

Heat surged to her cheeks.

Killian tilted his head. “Trying to run off without eating?” he husked.

Rosa swallowed hard, nerves tightening in her chest. She shook her head trying to slide off the table but he caught her wrist and pinned it lightly to the cool surface of the table.

Caged.

Her gaze flicked downward and instantly froze.
The bathrobe hung loose around his shoulders, revealing the hard lines of his chest, the faint sheen of water still clinging to his skin and a drop of water fell from his damp hair.

Her breath stopped the moment Killian parted her legs and stood between them. Her eyes widened.

His tall frame hovered close.

Killian tilted his head. “Like what you see?”
His voice was nothing more than a low purr and it sent a shiver straight through her spine.

Rosa stared at him. Her heart slammed against her ribs too fast.

She looked away.

His palm slid to her cheek slowly. Killian gasped feeling her cheek so soft. With a single movement, he tilted her face back toward him forcing her to face him.

“Don’t look away from me.” he whispered against her lips and smashed his lips onto hers.

Rosa’s hand flew to hold onto his shoulder, her breath stucking inside. She closed her eyes immediately the way his lips felt. It was so addictive.

Killian pulled her, deepening the kiss, pouring out his hunger. He couldn’t resist the way her lips looked so squishy, small and kissable.

He took her bottom lip between his teeth, tugging, chewing lightly as if he could own her with just that. Her lips were made to be ruined by him.

Killian didn’t stop until she was out of breath. Their lips parted. Rosa’s hand slipped from his shoulder and rose to her lips, touching the place where he had kissed.

Her eyes met his.

Killian inhaled slowly, “Is your leg fine now?” he asked lowly.

Her lashes fluttered and her eyeballs darted away. How could he mention that so casually?
So shameless of him to remind her of that night again.

Still she nodded hesitantly. She didn’t want to believe any of it. The kiss. His touch and everything that had happened.

It all felt like a dream too dangerous to wake up from.

Killian picked up a slice of apples from the plate, holding it in front of her lips.

Rosa hesitated, her gaze lifting to his, searching for some emotions but nothing showed up.

“I don--”
Before she could finish, his hand tugged her closer by the waist.

“Open your mouth.” he murmured sharply. “Now.”

Her heart stuttered. Quietly she parted her lips, letting the sweet fruit rest on her tongue. She chewed awkwardly with her flushed cheeks.

Killian fed her like that without a word. This wasn’t the man she knew. This version of him was no less terrifying. Something made her scared but Rosa couldn’t figure out what.

As she swallowed the last bite, she barely had time to breathe before Killian’s hand cupped her jaw and his lips crashed onto hers again.

It was desperate, passionate and starved.

Rosa’s eyes fluttered shut while Killian devoured her mouth like he was trying to erase every trace of hesitation. Her hands clutched his robe, lips trembled under the force of his need.

And yet she let him steal every breath and make her forget the line between fear and longing.

\----

Rosa stepped into the classroom minutes before the exam. The teacher hadn’t arrived yet but the room buzzed with nervous chatter. Her lavender eyes fell on the crowd in the corner of classroom.

“Rosa!”

Aria jumped up and rushed to her the moment she spotted Rosa. “What happened to you? You left that night without a word. And yesterday you didn’t even meet me after exam. Are you okay?”

Rosa pressed her lips together and gave a small shake of her head. “I-I just wasn’t feeling well.”

Aria frowned, clearly not convinced. “You could’ve told me at least.” She crossed her arms with a pout.

Rosa lowered her gaze and mumbled, “Sorry.” while her eyes drifted back to the crowd.

“What happened?” Rosa asked with curiosity.

“Max..” Aria sighed. “Some people beat him up last night on his way home. He says he doesn’t know who they were. His left hand’s broken.”

Rosa’s eyebrows knitted together.

Why would someone attack him like that... for no reason?

She felt bad for him. He has his exams ongoing and this happened. As the crowd emptied, Rosa’s gaze finally fell on Max, his hand was wrapped tightly in a white plaster.

“Ros-” Max tried to call her but before their eyes could meet Rosa quietly looked away and walked to her seat.

She didn’t want to face him after what happened that night.
