Chapter 43 Apology!
|| Author POV ||
Killian’s eyes darkened. The muscle in his jaw twitched.
He stayed silent for a moment before he turned his boot and walked out of the mansion again.
He slammed the car door shut close. The engine roared as he pushed the accelerator down hard. The city lights blurred past him. He shouldn’t have scolded her. But he wanted her to hate him.
Last night he lost control. A man like him who looses his temper over someone speaking without his permission wouldn’t stay calm after some other guy touched his woman.
If she was upset... he already knew where she’d go.
His grip on the steering wheel tightened.
Killian’s eyes fell on the bridge over Crest river. He slammed the brakes, the tires screeched and the car halted. He stepped out, boots crunched against the sand as he made his way down toward the riverside.
His gaze scanned the quiet riverbank until it landed on a small familiar figure.
Killian exhaled a breath of relief and tilted his head.
He knew she’d be here.
He flexed his jaw. So his little girl was mad at him, huh? How adorably naive. Angry at him because he scolded her. Cute.
The cold night wind tugged at his coat as his tall frame moved across the sand, eyes fixed on her delicate silhouette. She stood there like a statue with her back facing him.
His eyes shifted from the rippling river to her back and he stood just a little back beside her.
“Let’s go back.”
Rosa froze.
Her heart skipped. She hated how fast her chest rose at the sound of his deep voice.
How did he know? How did he find her here?
She clutched the hem of her dress tighter, fingers trembling in the icy air. Her eyes flickered toward him hesitantly.... afraid. And then they met his cold blue eyes.
“It’s cold here. Get in the car.” Killian ordered flatly and took a step.
“I don’t wanna go.” Rosa stumbled back. Her voice came out small. Her shaking eyes looking at him.
She stepped back again, refusing to let herself look weak.
She had given him everything and he acted like it meant nothing!
Like last night never happened.
It was hurting her so brutally.
“Listen to me.” Killian said, his brows drawn in frustration.
But Rosa shook her head, silently pleading, no. Her feet kept moving backward.
“Rosa, I said let’s go back--” Killian muttered but stopped seeing her lips trembling. She turned her back at him.
She’s not going to listen.
“Damn it!” Killian cursed under his breath. He swiftly reached out, his hand closed around her small wrist. Rosa froze in place glancing back with frown. Killian yanked her closer.
Rosa’s hands landed on his broad shoulder. Her small body pressed against his solid chest as he cupped her face and wrapped his arms around her waist.
Rosa wriggled in his hold, trying to escape but he clutched her tighter, keeping her in place.
“You’re not going anywhere!”
His lips slammed onto hers with ruthless hunger. Rosa’s breath stuck inside her throat. Eyes widening. She was in shock.
Rosa then tried to push his shoulder away remembering his rude behaviour but Killian tightened his hold around her tiny form, taking her lips between his.
Her lips were plush and warm. They were trembling beneath the lightest pressure like a rose petal. His lips moved on hers. Her lips melted between his mouth.
Her small palm pushed his shoulder again but he was too strong. Her breath hitched when his hands tightened, steadying her head and deepened the kiss.
His lips devoured her squishy ones with a gentleness that felt almost sinful.
Rosa tried to back away but Killian didn’t let her. Rosa felt helpless for being so fragile. Her struggles died down. She knew she can’t stop him. Her eyelashes shaken slowly and drops of tears escaped from her eyes, rolling down to her cheek.
She stood still letting him kiss her, tenderly at first until something inside him snapped.
The kiss turned fierce. His hands left her waist to hold her face between his both palms, his mouth pressed hers roughly. He sucked on her lips like he couldn’t let go.
Rosa felt her breath slipping away. The pressure of his kiss forced her to step back but Killian didn’t let go. His mouth kept shifting side to side, devouring her lips like he couldn’t get enough.
Her heartbeat stuttered wildly in her chest. She whimpered into his mouth desperately for air.
Killian finally clenched his jaw then slowly moved back. Their lips parted leaving a faint string of saliva that dissolved into the cold air. His eyes burned into her flushed cheeks and trembling eyelids.
Rosa opened her eyes slowly. The first thing she saw was his cheek, so close, too close! She swallowed hard, her throat was dry and her breath shaky.
“I’m sorry.” Killian whispered against her lips.
Rosa’s eyes slowly lifted to meet his. Her lashes trembled, tears welling up until they spilled down her cheeks.
She sniffled, her tiny arms snapped around his neck and she buried her face into the crook of it, hiding in the warmth of him.
Her soft sobs brushed against his skin. Killian sighed, his tall frame folded to her smaller one, arms wrapping tightly around her.
“I’m so fucking sorry. I’m sorry for scolding my little rabbit.” he murmured near her ear.
His lips brushed her earlobe then trailed to her cheek, pressing tender kisses there and he whispered apologies again and again.
“You..you’re s-so cruel.” Rosa’s broken voice trembled through her sobs. “Y-you looked at m-me with th-those scary eyes. You acted like n-nothing happened. Y-you p-punished me. You m-made me stand after doing such... b-bad things to me all night. Yo-you hurt me.”
Each word came out in hiccups, her small frame shaking as she clung to him.
Killian’s lips twitched slightly, amused despite himself. Her complaints, her fragility, they sounded like a delicate little girlfriend complaining to her ruthless boyfriend.
While he felt like the ruthless professor boyfriend who came to break her anger after scolding his woman.
A dark chuckle escaped his throat. Her voice was too sweet when she cried.
“I’m sorry... hmm?” he murmured against her skin, pressing a featherlight kiss to her temple.
Rosa’s arms tightened around him as she cried harder, burying her face in the crook of his neck, seeking comfort in the very arms that had hurt her.
He let her cry, holding onto him like a little kitten.
After a while, Rosa calmed down. Killian gently pulled her back. Without a word, he slipped off his coat and wrapped it around her small body letting the heavy fabric swallow her frame. Rosa kept her gaze low, staring at the sands, sniffling softly, her fists turned into a ball.
She lifted a hand to wipe her tears but he caught her wrist before she could. His thumb reached up, brushing her tears away with a gentleness that didn’t match the man who had been so cruel just hours ago.
Rosa blinked slowly, her soft violet eyes were glassy and dazed. Her cheeks flushed a deep red, her innocent mind betrayed her with flashes of last night’s events. They played behind her naive gaze like a dirty dream.
She could still feel his warm lips.
Her wide innocent eyes wandered across his sharp handsome features, quietly searching for something. But when he looked back at her, his gaze was cold.
Maybe that’s just the way he is, she thought.
“This sulky little rabbit needs to go back now.” Killian muttered under his breath before suddenly scooping Rosa into his arms.
A soft noise escaping her lips, her hands clutched his shoulders and her tiny form melted against his solid chest. She was weightless to him. Small enough to fit in the curve of his arms like she belonged there.
Killian reached the car and gently settled her into the seat, his touch careful, too careful for someone rough like him. Then he walked around and slipped into the driver’s side.
Rosa sat in silence and her fingers fidgeted in her lap like a obedient girl. Killian swallowed. His dark eyes remained fixed ahead as he started the engine.
He let out a sharp breath, biting his lower lip. Her taste still stuck on his mouth like a sin he couldn’t confess.
Damn it!
He cursed himself under his breath, gripping the wheel tighter.
The car sliced through the icy night, its headlights painting shadows across the empty road.
He pressed the brake, the car rolling to a quiet stop at the entrance of his mansion. The guard bowed stiffly as the headlights dimmed. Killian killed the engine and stepped out.
He walked around to her side already knowing she had dozed off.
His breath hitched slightly when he saw her peaceful face, lips softly pouted in sleep and snoring cutely.
Carefully, he picked her into his arms. Her body curled naturally against his chest.
He walked into the mansion and climbed the stairs. Reaching her room, he pushed the door open and walked toward the bed.
Rosa wriggled slightly in his hold like a baby rabbit unsettled in a dream. He gently set her down on the bed, shedding his coat onto the nearby chair.
He knelt down, undoing her shoes one by one. Then he pulled the duvet up to her chin and tucked her in.
Just one more second, he let his eyes linger on her sleeping form.
Thoughts consumed his thoughts. He has dragged her into his world without her knowing. She has no idea in which world she has stepped in by getting involved with him.
No idea what kind of man she’d handed her heart to.
She was too soft for this. Her innocence seeped into his veins like a venomous drug. She’s so submissive and so heartbreakingly sweet.
And yet she made him say sorry!
A word that had never once slipped from his lips in this entire life.
He chuckled darkly to himself.
His little woman.
The only softness he’d ever let ruin him.
He even wondered how did she end up having a crush on him. She’s not the type of girl to fall for her professor.
He chuckled again.
So naive.
