Chapter 77: Seventy-eight
Hope
Kyle was quick. It didn't take up to two days and he had already set up a meeting with the witch for me. According to him, she wanted to keep her name and location a secret.
So, instead of leaving the castle to meet her, she would be the one to come over. I had no problems with this, as all I wanted to do was get this phase of my life over and done with.
She arrived at midnight. Earlier today, I had told Darius not to come to my room since I wanted to rest well and him being around would only disturb and irritate me.
Though he had been against it because of his recent overprotective behavior, I still managed to wear him down at the end of the day.
By the time the witch arrived, I was seated by the window in my room. She and Kyle entered so quietly that I didn't even notice them until they had gotten close to the window.
The moon was incredible bright this night and my room was brightened with lamps and lit candles. The witch was dressed as a castle worker to avoid suspicion.
She had a young face, but her eyes looked as though she had seen everything in the world. I was satisfied with her.
I faced Kyle and said, "You can leave us now."
Kyle looked like he wanted to argue with my command but he still obeyed, walking out of the room and shutting the door on his way out.
"Your Majesty, it is truly an honor for a nobody like me to be granted an audience with you." The witch spoke buttery words.
I was not moved. Still seated by the window, I said, "I want you to examine my body. I might have a plague, so be careful."
The witch's brows closed together to form a unibrow of confusion. She didn't ask her curiosities out loud, only nodding and saying, "Let us move to the bed then."
I finally stood up from the window side and went to lie down on my bed. My eyes were pinned on the witch, ready for any sudden action.
The witch smiled. As though to say, "Don't worry. You're in safe hands."
Not trusting her words, I didn't change my gaze on her. Even with that, she summoned light to her hands and began to move them around my body.
Her hands did not touch my skin, they floated above it. After a little while, her movement stopped right above my stomach. The light in her hands went off and she stepped away from the bed.
I sat up and quickly asked, "Is it curable?"
She was silent for a while before shaking her head and saying, "Your Majesty, you do not have a disease."
I narrowed my eyes at her, "What then do I have? My body goes against my head these days. I suddenly lose strength and memories. Little things are enough to overwhelm and anger me. I also feel like there's a constant void inside my stomach that needs to be filled with food at every hour.
"How can you say that I do not have disease? Did you examine me well? Or are your powers not sufficient enough for a problem of this magnitude?"
Even with my explosion, the witch's words did not change.
"Your Majesty, you do not have a disease."
"Are you-"
"You are pregnant."
The rest of my words got hooked up in my throat.
No. No. No. No. No. No.
"That's not possible. I'm human. I-"
"Being human is not a problem at this stage. But later on, it will become one. I am not a physician but it seems like you have been pregnant for quite some time. Maybe for two months or three." The witch said.
My head began to hurt.
No way. There was no actual way that I could be pregnant. Yes, Darius and I have been constantly doing it, but as a human, getting pregnant for a Lycan was almost impossible. Even more impossible was getting pregnant for a royal Lycan that had royal blood running in his veins.
So how could it be? That I, of all people, was pregnant all of a sudden. It was a lie.
"You lie," I accused the witch.
She shook her head in disagreement. "I do not lie. I am telling you the truth. Your Majesty, you are pregnant. If you stop and take the time to think, you would realize that you symptoms you stated before are those of pregnancy.
"There wasn't any need to invite me here. In a few months, it'll start to show and there will be no way to hide it. Congratulations, your Majesty."
I wanted find something to throw at the witch for spewing such nonsense.
The word, 'pregnant' just kept spinning inside my head. I was pregnant. Pregnant for Darius. Pregnant for a Lycan. Pregnant for a monster.
No. I couldn't be. I just couldn't!
"I have done what was requested of me. Grant me the permission to leave, your Majesty." The witch said, while bowing.
With an irritated tone, I said, "You can leave."
She didn't take any offense, smiling and nodding before she left. Soon after she left, Kyle walked into the room.
"Your Majesty, the witch-"
"Get out." I said to him in a low voice.
Kyle seemed to be taken aback by both my words and my tone.
"Is something wrong, your Majesty? If the witch did something, I promise to-"
"I said, get out!"
This time, I picked up the closest thing to my hand, which happened to be a pillow, and launched it towards Kyle. Understanding that I was not in a good mood after he got hit, he nodded his head and left the room without saying a word.
I was pregnant. There was a little monster growing inside of me right at this moment. A little monster that would grow up and have the ability to turn into a beast. They would likely even make me turn into one.
No. I couldn't be pregnant. I... This type of thing couldn't be happening to me. Not at this time still. When Light would be coming to make history and everywhere was tense.
This child inside of me couldn't exist at a time like this. Not at all.
