Chapter 11: Love in the Face of Danger

I had never been so scared in my life. I knew that Jake, my mate, will be in serious trouble but I just need to hide for safety first. He was fully prepared to fight the vampires that had killed Lucas, his friend from the Burywoods pack. I had begged him not to go, but he was determined to avenge Lucas's death.

I crouched behind a tree, hearing the sound of fighting in the distance. I knew that I had to help Jake. I started runing towards the sound of the fight.

I heard Jake's voice in my head, "Mabel, Get out of here!" I could hear the fear in his voice, and I knew that I had to get away fast.

I ran as fast as I could, not looking back. I could hear the werewolf transformation of Jake behind me, and I knew that he was going to fight with everything he had. I could also hear the vampires' hissing and growling, which sent shivers down my spine. I knew that they were dangerous, and that they were out for blood.

As I reached a clearing, I stopped to catch my breath. "Ahhh," I exclaimed

But before the twinkle of an eye, I heard a loud roar, followed by a sickening thud. I knew that the fighting had reached its climax so I summoned all my courage and ran back to where Jake was fighting with the blood-thirsty vampires.

When I got there, I saw Jake in his werewolf form, covered in blood. He had taken down four of the vampires, but there were still two left. They were the ones who had killed Lucas. I could see the fury in Jake's eyes as he stared them down.

"I'm going to make you pay for what you did to Lucas," Jake growled.

The vampires hissed before laughing out loud...

"Hahahaha, Jake you are just a chick to kill, too small for us," one of the vampires said with so much boldness.

While the other lunged at Jake, but he was too quick for them. He dodged their attacks and landed powerful blows on them. I could see the vampires weakening under his onslaught.

Suddenly, I saw a very huge figure emerging....

Wow!, It was Grayson, the alpha of the Burywoods pack, who had trained me. He had heard the fighting and had come to help. But it was too late. Jake had already taken down the vampires. They lay motionless on the ground, their blood staining the grass.

As I walked over to Jake, I could see the pain in his eyes. He had avenged Lucas's death, but at what cost? He had sustained severe injuries, and I knew that he needed medical attention.

"Jake, we need to get you to a hospital," I said.

"I'll be fine," he said weakly. "Just give me a few minutes to catch my breath."

I could see that he was in a lot of pain, but he was still trying to be strong. I knew that I had to get him some help fast.

"Grayson, we need to get Jake to a hospital now," I said urgently.

Grayson nodded and transformed into his wolf form. I helped Jake onto Grayson's back, and we set off towards the nearest hospital.

As we ran, I could hear Jake's labored breathing, and I knew that he was in bad shape. But I also knew that he was a fighter. He would pull through this, no matter what.

We reached the hospital, and the doctors rushed Jake into the emergency room. I stayed outside, waiting anxiously for news. After what felt like an eternity, the doctor came out to see me.

"He's going to be okay," he said. "He sustained some serious injuries, but we were able to treat him in time. He's still unconscious, but he should make a full recovery."

I breathed a sigh of relief. "Jake was going to be okay."

But trust me, I couldn't stay a minute without Jake because he's the smooth air I breath now, so I rushed into the hospital room, with my heart filled with so much joy, joy that can bring down the entire hospital building.

As I entered, Jake was on the bed with bandages wrapped around his chest and arms. I felt tears prick my eyes as I saw him lying there, pale and weak.

"Hey," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I'm okay."

I smiled through my tears and leaned down to kiss him. His lips were soft and warm against mine, and for a moment, all my worries faded away.

"I was so worried about you," I said, pulling away.

"When I saw you lying there, I thought I had lost you."

Jake reached out and took my hand. "I'm not going anywhere," he said. "Not without you."

We talked for hours, catching up on everything that had happened since we last saw each other. We laughed and joked and held each other close, grateful for this moment of peace.

As the night wore on, Jake's breathing grew slow and steady. I knew that he was tired, and I didn't want to keep him awake any longer.

"I should go," I said reluctantly, standing up.

Jake reached out and grabbed my hand. "Stay with me," he said. "Just for a little while longer."

"Okay my dear," I said, feeling my heart fill with joy. I climbed into the bed beside him and wrapped my arms around him, holding him close.

I always believed that with Jake by my side, I could face anything that the world threw at me.

Finally, as the first rays of dawn began to peek through the window, I knew that I had to go.

"I'll be back soon," I said, kissing him softly on the lips. "I promise."

Jake smiled, his eyes shining with love. "I'll be waiting for you," he said.

As I walked out of the hospital, my heart was full of hope and happiness. I knew that there were still dangers out there, but fear was far from fetch.

However, there was a storm brewing on the horizon, one that would test our love and our strength in ways that we never could have imagined.
