Chapter 106 Looking For You

Chapter 106 Looking For You
ADRIANA

“So what happened after that? Why did the cult position have to be passed down? I mean why couldn’t it just be given to someone else?” I was confused.

“Because of the blood that was passed. At the initiation and renewal of their vows to the cult, each of the brothers dropped their blood into a cup and they each drank from it. That covenant that they shared is what hindered them from doing so.”

All this was sounding deeper than it was and I just stayed, watching like I didn’t understand what was going on.

“Okay so if I had a blood tie with one of the members of the cult, why did she choose me to become the special wolf? It doesn’t make any sense.”

There was nothing that made sense about all this.

Claudia spoke up.

“She wanted to break the bond. She knew that your father had only two girls and she knew that the cult didn’t allow women in so she decided to use this chance to come as the special wolf. Everything that happened was for a reason. Your mother’s death, your father’s hatred for you, everything was planned just so that you will end up like this so you don’t have to worry.”

“So what’s next? What am I going to do with myself now? Marriage is surely out of the option. Elijah wants nothing to do with me, as you know.” I shrugged, like saying the words hadn’t made my throat tighten.

My tongue tasted bitter.

“You don’t have to worry about Elijah. He made a stupid mistake and he already regrets it. He’s looking for you as we speak.”

My eyes widened.

“What? What did you say?”

“He loves you and what happened was just his occasional anger burst. You’ll see a lot of that in the future but you are still the one that will have the strength to calm him down. He needs you back at his side. He can’t rule without you.”

Elijah was looking for me? It’s not like I didn’t want to go back home to him. I really did, we had a lot to talk about but I really didn’t know how to face Leo after what happened.

“You don’t have to worry about what happened. The person responsible would be caught very soon. But Adriana, you have to be very careful about the people around you. If they can’t use your enemies to get to you, they’ll use your friends. So watch out.”

I nodded. I barely had any friends so I didn’t think I had anything to worry about.

“Okay, anything else?”

Why did I feel like they were saying goodbye?

“Anytime you need help, just call for us. We’ll be there for you.”

I started to nod.

“But how would I know how to call you?”

“You’ll know what to say when the time comes.”

Something told me that was the end of the conversation.

When I woke up the next day, I was at the same spot that Lisa had attacked Leo.

What in the world? I was going to ask how in the world I got here but I remembered that they got me a room immediately I asked for it.

I quickly stood up from the floor and cleaned my body. It was still very early so no one was outside. Good enough for me. I could easily walk in and enter without anyone seeing me.

I dragged myself across the gravel, happy that I was finally back. I couldn’t contain my excitement at finally being back here.

I didn’t know how much I missed being here until now.

The house wasn’t ever locked because the guards often walked around at night and Elijah wanted to make their work easy.

So I opened the door slowly, not wanting to draw attention to myself.

Thankfully, there was no one awake at this odd hour. It was still four am.

Dragging my bag upstairs, I let out a deep breath when I got to my room. I missed this place so much. I couldn’t imagine the surprise on their faces when they would see me in the morning.

I was actually very tired so I just went to bed and let the fatigue go to sleep with me.

For the fourth time this week, the damn alarm clock woke me up again. I swear I was going to break this thing one day.

I don’t even know why I had it.

I was so hungry. Last night had been a full talk session with the sisters and I was too invested in their story to ask for food.

I originally didn’t want to go downstairs for fear of Elijah seeing me. I mean, even though he was looking for me, it didn’t mean that he was happy with me or that he was finally ready to speak to me.

For all I knew, he could be looking for me because he wanted to appease his guilty conscience or because Leo was asking for me.

In all, I couldn’t be happy at all.

After thinking about it for a while, I decided to go downstairs because if I continued to stay here, I would be the one to die up here and no one would know anything because they didn’t know that I was here.

I opened the door and checked if anyone was there at first and then I took one step out.

“Addy.”

His voice.

Why was he the one that I saw first?

“Am I dreaming?”

Yes please, go back to sleep.

I turned around and stared him in the eye.

“No, you’re not. I’m back, Elijah.”

He ran toward me, pulling me in for a hug.

“You’re finally back. I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean what I said, I would never want you to leave me. I’m so sorry.”

Tears filled my eyes.

“It’s okay, I don’t hold it against you. I would never. I should be the one apologizing. I mean, after what happened—”

“No, you don’t have to. I know that you didn’t bake the cake. I mean, you will never do such a thing. You know about his allergy. I don’t blame you for what happened. I’m so sorry I did. I was just so angry.”

I nodded.

“It’s fine. I was just so scared that you would hate me. I was scared that you wanted nothing to do with me and that’s why I left. I couldn’t imagine the fact that I had caused Leo a permanent injury that I couldn’t take back.”

He looked around and then pulled me into my room.

“Hey, you don’t have to blame yourself for that. I’ll get to the root of it myself. For now, I’m just so happy that you’re back.”

I felt happy as well that I was back.

“Leo would really be happy that you’re back.”

“I’m happy too.”

“He and Hazel made my life hell when you left. They stopped speaking to me and I felt like an outcast in my own house. I’m just happy you’re back because I don’t know. We need to talk about a lot of things.”

I agreed but my stomach seemed to want in on the conversation.

“Listen, I think I need to eat first. But I really don’t want to go downstairs because I don’t want anyone to know that I’m back so could you help bring my breakfast up?”

He held my face in his hands and I knew he was going to kiss me.

“I’ll do anything for you, my love.”

He left after a while and it felt like butterflies in my stomach.

When he came back, there was this huge tray in his hand.

“What is in that tray?”

He placed it on my lap and I couldn’t help but laugh.

“I brought everything I could find in the kitchen and brought it to you. Eat up, you’ve been away from the house for quite a while. This should be my welcome back.”

I didn’t want to tell him about the sisters yet because right now wasn’t the time, I was going to have enough time to speak about this later on.

For now, I might as well just eat. He watched me eat, which was very uncomfortable.

“I should go see Leo. I’m sure he would want to see the person who almost killed him.”

It was meant to be a joke but clearly, he didn’t see it as that.

He moved closer to me on the bed and put his arms around me.

“You don’t have to blame yourself for it. Just let it go please. Let’s move on from it.”

So I decided to move on from it. But I would definitely find out what the hell happened with Betty.
