Genni was quiet for so long that Molly coughed a little and asked if they were to leave, this brought Genni out of her reverie ‘No, please don’t leave yet, I’m sorry about that. I just cant believe Jonas would let this happen. I mean, this pack and their welfare is one of his top most priorities. I don’t understand’! Genni was getting sidetracked and that couldn’t happen so she pulled herself together and continued with the meeting and the new information that had come to light ‘I think that to start with, the weekly coffee morning and the weekly run needs to start immediately, like within the next few days. And as we are all so busy with the other problem we have I suggest that we get a small group of the Omega’s and get them working together to come up with ways in which this situation can be resolved’ Genni was jotting everything she had said down, but she had also penned 5 names and was about to say them when Molly interjected ‘Your Grace, I think it would be prudent to do this with the Theta and Delta ranks too. Expanding on your idea of a group of omega’s. How about we asked 5 of each rank to apply for a position on a new “fairness panel” It would mean that whatever is decided can be decided over the 3 ranks’?
‘That’s a wonderful idea, Molly, could you please sort out the application stage, we can go through them all then and pick the most qualified to sit on the panel’? Molly nodded her head and began writing furiously in her notebook. Sara on the other had asked what she was to do ‘I would like you to take a stroll with Greg around the village. Listen to whats being said without actually asking outright. Just listen for any discord and note down who, where and when. Can you do that’? Sara jumped up right away and seemed excited ‘You bet I can Gen, I’ve always wanted to go undercover and sniff out a rat or in this case a sheep in wolf’s clothing’ and Genni laughed not only at her analogy but at the determination in her eyes.
‘Remember though, my Neice or Nephew needs rest so don’t go over board, ok. Please take care, and make sure Greg is with you at all times, ok’? Smiling at her friend she saw her roll her eyes but she agreed. Leaving so she could go and find Greg, Genni found herself alone with Molly who seemed reluctant to leave just yet. She clearly had something on her mind ‘what is it Molly? Are you ok’? Genni was getting genuinely concerned now as Molly started to look uncertain. ‘Ok, I didn’t think that it was an issue, so I never brought it up. And I have not discussed this with Peter. These are My opinions’ Molly was staring intensely at Genni and Genni understood that she was about to be told something she may not like. ‘When we left the Blue Diamond Pack to come here and having to give up my position as the Beta to your Mother I was wary of the way the new pack would be run as the Blue Diamond was run very well. Im not blowing my own horn here Your Grace, but between your father and Myself the Pack was run fairly and was considered to be a forward thinking pack. When we joined this Pack, the Luna Shadow Pack, and understood from the get go that the Alpha and Luna of this new pack were in fact the Grand Alpha’s. We all understood that this would most definitely mean that the pack would ran differently. I was just shocked by how different it was. There is no general mixing in this pack, every rank stays within its own borders, so to speak. Delta’s only mix with Delta’s. Same for the Theta’s and the Omega’s. And speaking of the Omega’s, they are treated like the Packs personal Slaves, with the higher ranks taking full advantage of their station and position within the hierarchy’. Molly bowed her head and asked for forgiveness for saying what she was about to say ‘I believe that the former Grand Alpha has too much influence on this Grand Alpha. And having watched our various get together’s I have come to understand that it is not so much Rosemary, she is a lovely women and I love spending time with her but I fear that Phil is a lot more assertive with his son. I don’t know if Jonas is aware of his fathers involvement and influence but if he doesn’t he needs to be told. Your Grace, I would not have said anything if you had not picked up on the unrest within the lower ranks of the pack. But I now believe you need to know and you may need to speak with the Alpha’!
Genni was once again shocked to her core to hear this. Getting upset but not wanting Molly to think she was upset with her Genni quickly explained.
‘You have every right to be annoyed with me, Your Grace. I have spoken out of turn’. This annoyed Genni as well as she was getting really pissed off with the standoffish way Molly had told her. This was a women she had known all her life and considered her a great and true friend.
‘Right’ snapped Genni. Making Mollys head snap up just as abruptly ‘I’m getting a bit pissed off that I have seemed to lost my friend but gained a Beta. I know you are an amazing Beta Molly, but I choose you for the job because you know me so well and I trust your judgement. But I gotta say that even though this Beta is efficient and diligent she is not my friend’ Molly gasped at this and Genni could see she had offended the women. Sighing and rubbing her fingers against her temples Genni tried again to explain herself ‘Molly, I love you. You were more of a. Mom to me than Silvia ever was. And it kills me that in becoming Luna and Beta it has taken YOU away from me. And I don’t like it. I don’t like that you call me Your Grace and not just plain old Genni or Gen. I don’t like it that the closeness we had seems to have disappeared’ when Genni had finished talking she had tears on both cheeks. Molly looked at her aghast and rushed to her side and enveloped her in a bear hug. She was crying as well and saying over and over that she was sorry. Grasping Genni’s face between her hands she said ‘I’ve missed our closeness so much, My love. I just wanted to be the best Beta I could be for you. I know the destiny that awaits you and I wanted desperately to try and ease the burden of the pack for you but, once again you have shown me that you are more than capable of running this pack with my Guidance and not with me behaving the way I had to with Silvia. I am so so sorry Gen’ Genni smiled at the shortened name and hugged Molly back fiercely ‘that’s more like it’ Genni sniffed. Looking up Genni told Molly that from now on there is to be no more “Your Grace”. If she must, on occasion call her Luna she would understand but in all other situations Genni expected Molly to simply call her what she had always called her. Smiling at Genni now but still with tears in her eyes Molly replied ‘I get you, and I promise going forward I will do as you ask, please, just bare with me as I may slip up from time to time. But I do ask this. If we are in the presence of a lower ranked pack member then I will call you Luna. It shows a respect that I do not want to stop giving you’. Molly looked a little uncertain at what she had just said but Genni just smiled her beautiful smile and agreed.
‘Your right, outside of our inner circle we should always follow protocol. Thank you Molly. See, without your guidance I would have made I fool of myself as I would have insisted that everyone call me Genni, and that just won’t do for the Luna of the pack. I understand that there needs to be well defined roles within any pack. Just, not between us all the time, ok’? Molly laughed at that and kissed Genni on the forehead and agreed. Molly left then, saying she wanted to make a start on the application forms for the new Panel. Telling Genni she would be in her office if she needed anything she walked out the connecting door. After that heavy discussion with her team Genni was left with a lot to think about and a lot of questions that she wanted answered, NO she needed answers. And she was sure that there were things about to be uncovered that would shake the pack to its core.
