I smiled at James as he approached me
"Luna," he called without warmth
"Beta James," my tone was a contrast to his. "How are you doing today, my dear?"
He glared at me and decided to ignore the pleasantries
"The Alpha told me," he said. "He told me that you are pregnant."
"The gods be praised," I smiled widely.
"You didn't tell me about this," he said and I chuckled.
"Why? You're not the father are you?"
He looked at me.
"We have been plotting this for weeks and you always decide to do just what you feel like without seeking my consent or at least, letting me know."
I raised a brow
"I didn't know you were so interested in it. You act like you didn't care."
"Well, it's only fair if you let me know since you made sure I am a full participant in this. I shouldn't be taken unawares."
"Well, the Alpha also told me your wife was pregnant, so..."
"So?" He sounded confused that I would say that
"You didn't tell me first. In fact, you never told me. I heard it from the Alpha."
"My wife's pregnancy is not part of it," he said.
"And why not?" I asked him. "We are partners. Partners in crime, I mean. It's only cordial that you should tell me things like that to show you value our relationship, you know."
"There is no need," he said. "That is my personal business and I do not need you being involved. But you need me in yours because I do things for you."
"Hmm," I hummed and there was silence for a while
"Well, do you plan to keep lying to the Alpha like this?" He asked. "Going round in circles, pretending that you are pregnant and having a miscarriage?"
"Who told you that is what I intend to do?" I glanced at him and met his inquisitive eyes
He scoffed
"Come on, you and I know you'd never have the Alpha's child. You are not his true mate. It's not even possible. What other ways do you plan to go on with this?"
"You'll get to know eventually," I replied.
"Is this a sign that you don't need me anymore? I will really be glad. As you know, my wife is pregnant and she needs me. I will have a family aside from my pack duties, and I have to be dedicated to them."
I smiled at him.
"It doesn't matter James," I said. "You can be whatever you want, a beta, a father and a husband. But when Sophie needs and calls out to you. You'll always answer her."
"I will not always be on your call, Sophie. You have to put an end to this or find someone else. I have my own problems to deal with."
"Is it because of the marriage that you're acting this way?" I ran my tongue through my teeth. "Remember you've been with me long before with her. We've had a good history together. Your wife cannot even have this kind of bond with you. With me, we run magic. We run the pack and everyone in it including the Alpha. There is nothing as magnificent as that."
I tried to rest my hand on him but he shifted away. My eyes dropped.
"James I've actually missed you," I said in a low tone. "For weeks I've tried to pretend all is well but I have needs as a woman."
"You have a man," James said. "You have the Alpha."
"The Alpha is not enough for me," I said. "You are the one I want. You are the one who knows the exact spot that itches down there. You do the job well."
"I am married," he stated and I rolled my eyes.
"Tell me James," I said as I moved closer. "Does that woman give it to you as much as I do? Does she let you pound her as I like it? Is her grip as mine? I know you enjoy the things we do together."
"Luna please don't say such things," James said. "The Alpha is your husband and my superior. I am married too. We both are. These are things no one should hear you say."
"And no one is going to hear us if we keep it cool," I got closer and whispered into his ears
I smiled to myself. James is such a jerk that he cannot resist me even after all the claims of loving his mate
He's tied to me forever. Well, I have to keep in check. At least for as long as I want to use him. For as long as I want to have control over him.
I leaned in and kissed him gently on the neck
"No one's going to know," I said again. "In our world, just the two of us exist. Not my husband, nor your wife."
And as if the universe completely disagreed with that, someone cried his name
"James!"
We shook and moved away from each other.
Veronica was standing a few steps away, tears streaming down her eyes
"Veronica..." James called, his voice breaking
"Is this...are you fucking kidding me? Are you really having an affair with the Luna?" She asked, looking from me to him in disbelief
"My love calm down. I can explain. This is not what it looks like."
"Not what it looks like?" She repeated. "James I just caught you two in an intimate position. Kissing! I heard everything."
James ran his hands through his hair frantically. But I tried to keep my cool. This is bad, very bad. The Alpha must not hear of this, so we would have to put it under control.
Fuck! I did not notice her walk in. How did she even find us? And of all people, it had to be her. One thing is certain, the Alpha must definitely not hear about this and someone, James or anyone would have to convince her beyond any reasonable doubt to keep her mouth shut for the good of everyone here
