Chapter 9 Jennifer Rejects Captain Bryan!

Chapter 9 Jennifer Rejects Captain Bryan!
"Why?" Jennifer asked back.

"Yes, why? You can stay in this house as long as you need to! Was it what I said earlier that offended you? If that's the problem, I apologise! I had no intention of asking you to separate rooms, it's just that I don't want..." Captain Bryan tried to explain.

Jennifer cut Bryan off with a smile.

"I know... you didn't mean anything by it!" Jennifer looked down at the floor beneath her feet.

"Then why do you want to leave this house so quickly? I'm happy to help you!"

Jennifer looked up at Bryan again. "I'm an independent woman! I'm not used to depending on anyone! Besides, you can't possibly think that I'm going to stay at your house forever, can you?"

"Why not? If you want to, I don't mind! I'd actually be happy, because then this house would be a little livelier! And maybe I'll come back to this house more often!" Bryan said again, expressing his intentions.

Jennifer had expected this, but she smiled and replied calmly.

"That's exactly what I don't want, Captain Smith! We'll be seeing each other more often! And of course it won't look good! I'm a single mother living with a single man! I don't want them to think badly of you or me!" said Jennifer softly but firmly.

"I think... you're thinking too far ahead, Mrs Ross!" Finally, Bryan, who was a little disappointed, sat down.

Jennifer followed Bryan and sat down in front of him.

"Maybe! But that's what I think... I also don't want my child to grow up seeing his mother living in the house of someone she has no relationship with!" Jennifer exclaimed again.

At that moment, Alex was upstairs in his room cleaning himself up, at Jennifer's request.

Bryan sat up straight, "If that's your problem, we can try it! I mean... maybe we can be friends first... or..."

Jennifer suddenly laughed nervously, and Bryan looked at her strangely.

"Why? Is there something funny about what I said? Do you think I'm not good enough for you? Is only Mr Williams good enough for you?" Captain Bryan felt a little belittled by Jennifer.

"Hahahah... no! No! Why are you even talking about it? Gerald and I don't have any kind of relationship!" asked Jennifer, still with a smile on her face.

"Even you call him by his first name! But with me, you call me very formally! I think I'm a little jealous of him!" Captain Bryan began to frown slightly.

Jennifer sighed deeply! It seemed she had made a mistake earlier when she accidentally called Gerald Williams by his first name.

For some reason, even though Jennifer hated him, in another corner of her heart, it felt warm every time she called Gerald's name. Even though Jennifer herself didn't know why! Unlike Captain Bryan Smith, Jennifer would be very careful, even though Captain Bryan was very kind to her.

"It's not like that, I just said it without any intention!" lied Jennifer.

"Really? Then why do you seem to be rejecting me?" asked Captain Bryan again.

"Rejecting you? I'm not rejecting you! We're friends, aren't we? You've been too kind to me, and I won't take advantage of your kindness! You're like the brother I never had!" Jennifer paused for a moment to see Captain Bryan's reaction. The disappointment in his eyes was clear, but Jennifer really had no intention whatsoever and felt no attraction or other feelings towards him other than friendship.

Bryan leaned weakly against the sofa.

"Besides, I really don't want to be in a romantic relationship with anyone right now! I came to L.A. with the aim of working and finding a better life for my child! That's all!" Jennifer reiterated the reasons for her decision, and her prediction was correct. Captain Bryan looked more relaxed than before, a slight smile appearing on his face.

“Alright! I understand what you mean! And I respect your decision! At least thank you for considering me a friend! After all, we’ve only just met, haven’t we? There’s still plenty of time! Anything can happen!” Captain Bryan said more calmly as he stood up.

"Hm... you're right! It's all too early! But I can't promise anything! And of course! You're my friend, Captain Bryan!" Jennifer winked slightly and followed Bryan as he stood up.

Now they were facing each other.

"Hahaha... after you rejected me and I accepted it, you finally called me by my first name! You're really cunning, Jennifer!" Captain Bryan laughed a little, even though his heart ached because Jennifer had rejected him earlier.

"Hehehe... of course! Aren't I smart?" exclaimed Jennifer.

"Enough! Go on! You said you wanted to buy something to fill the fridge, right? Come on... go! Before it gets dark!" Jennifer gently pushed Bryan out the door.

"Hey! Slow down! Didn't you say earlier that it wasn't necessary? You said we only needed to order food! Isn't that what you said earlier?" Bryan exclaimed, pouting a little.

"Hehehe... That was earlier! Now I'm hungry! At least I need a snack after tidying up a little!" Jennifer exclaimed, laughing again.

"All right... but remember, don't tire yourself out too much! Tomorrow, someone will come to tidy up or clean the house! So you can relax!" Bryan exclaimed again.

"Okay! Captain!" Jennifer saluted.

Bryan shook his head at Jennifer's funny behaviour.

"You're so silly! Look, that's wrong! It should be like this!" Captain Bryan reflexively corrected Jennifer's hand by holding it.

Jennifer stood frozen in place. And this made Bryan realise something.

"Sorry! I think I have to go!" Nervously, Bryan quickly turned around and left the house.

Meanwhile, Jennifer, who was also still nervous after being touched by Bryan, looked down and tucked her hair behind her ear.

But not long after, Captain Bryan returned before reaching his garage.

"I forgot my keys!" Bryan quickly grabbed his car keys, which were lying on the table when they entered earlier.

"Oh, okay!" Jennifer could only reply briefly to cover their awkwardness.

Bryan quickly ran to his garage, opened it, jumped into his car, and drove away.

Without them realising it, all their interactions were being watched by someone who seemed to be about to explode at that moment.

Meanwhile, the man next to him looked busy staring at the steering wheel with concern.

"Alpha, shouldn't we leave? Don't let Mrs. Jennifer, I mean Mrs. Jenni, see us and she'll walk away or run away again, Alpha Gerald! At least we know where they live now!" the man beside him said anxiously.

"Oh my goodness... Madam! Can't you hold back your smile and laughter for others, Madam? The man beside me looks like he's ready to pounce on the man who gets your smile, Madam! It seems like my life is going to get harder from now on!" the man complained silently.

The man next to him began to untie his tie and threw it carelessly.

"Did you see that, John? She smiled! She laughed with that poor policeman! But with me? She always glares! How about we go in and force her and my son out of there? Huh?" Gerald exclaimed angrily.

"I-I know, Alpha, but if we do that... Madam. will hate you even more, Alpha! Or she might run away like... before! It's better if you follow my plan, Alpha!" The person who was watching from across the house was Gerald and his assistant, John.

"Is that so? Then what's your plan, Beta John?" asked Gerald, who was getting more and more annoyed.

The person who turned out to be Beta John approached and whispered.

Gerald nodded, glaring menacingly.

“Don’t fail this time! Do your best!”

“Of course, Alpha!”
