Chapter 11: The Forbidden Pack
Elara
I blinked my eyes slowly, the sun light rays shining on my face. There was a sweet smell of pine trees and lavender filled my nose, it make me smile. But as I move a little everything hurt, my arms, my legs, my whole body felt like I'd been hit by a truck. I tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through my back, I don't know when I yelped.
"Take it easy, don't move. You'll only hurt yourself." a soft voice called out. I turned my head to the direction of the voice and saw a elderly woman sitting next to the bed was on. She had friendly smile on her face, her green eyes reminded me of springtime, her dark hair was pulled back in a neat braid. She was sorting through different healing herbs on a small wooden table. "You're still pretty beaten up from yesterday."
Yesterday?
That's was when it all came back to me, the the fight. I remembered getting attacked by those heartless ninja wolves whom Linda sent. I remembered my body changing, silver fur sprouting from my skin even though that shouldn't have been possible. And then... I remembered him. The huge black wolf who came out of nowhere and saved my life.
My heart was beating fast, "Wh..where am I? What is this place?"
The woman smiled kindly at me. "Don't worry, you're safe now. This is the healers den of the Blackmoon pack, the Alpha ordered you should have taken care of in the VIP room."
My blood ran cold.
The Blackmoon pack?
No, this couldn't be happening. Everyone knew about them - they were the pack no one dared to mess with. People whispered stories about their strong, and heartless Alpha and his pack of untamed rougues, how anyone who entered their territory never came back alive. I'd grown up hearing these stories, and now here I was, right in the middle of their den.
"The B-Blackmoon pack?" I stammered, my heart pounding in my chest. "No, no, no. I can't be here. This is bad, really bad."
The healer come over and pushed me back on the soft bed. "Shhhh, calm down. Nothing bad is going to happen to you here. Alpha Acheron himself carried you to here. He saved your life."
Just hearing his name made my whole body tense up. Alpha Acheron - the most feared Alpha, because he the Alpha of the Rougues, ever pack feared him. Romurs said he was a ruthless banished king who ruled over a pack of dangerous wolves that no other pack would take in– Rougues. And now I was lying in his territory, completely helpless.
The healer must have seen the fear in my eyes because her voice got softer. "I know what you're thinking. Everyone's heard the scary stories about us. But that's all they are - just stories. We're not the monsters everyone thinks we are." She smiled and patted my head.
I wanted to believe her, I really did. But I couldn't forget what I'd seen yesterday - the way Alpha Acheron had fight those ninja wolves like they were pups. He'd moved like a shadow, powerful and deadly. He hadn't shown them any mercy, till they surrender.
My voice came out shaky when I asked, "Did he really saved me?"
The healer's eyes crinkled warmly. "Yes, he did. You were passed out cold when he brought you in. He was gentle with you, like you were made of glass. He ordered us to take special care of both you and..." she paused meaningfully, "your baby."
My hands flew to my stomach protectively. "The baby? Is my baby okay?"
She nodded, smiling. "Don't worry - you're both healing perfectly. It's amazing, really. The Moon Goddess must have been watching over you both during that attack."
Tears filled my eyes, and silently, I thanked the Goddess for protecting my little one. No one knows about this baby even my mate, Blayze. Even Linda didn't know I was pregnant, she ordered Ninja wolfs to kill me and luckily we'd survived. My happiness didn't last long though, as reality came crashing back. I was still trapped in the most dangerous pack.
Would he left me leave when I'm fully healed?
I looked up at the healer nervously, "Where is he now? The Alpha who saved me?" I asked.
Her lips curved into a knowing smile. "Alpha Acheron? I sent someone to tell him you're awake. He should be here any minute."
What?
My stomach did a flip. I wasn't ready to face him yet. The memory of his massive black wolf form, rippling with deadly power, was still too fresh in my mind. But I couldn't deny that he'd saved both me and my baby when he didn't have to. Why would such a feared Alpha help a random pregnant wolf?
Just then, heavy footsteps echoed down the hallway outside. My heart started pounding so hard I thought it might burst out of my chest. The healer quickly stood up and smoothed down her dress, heading for the door. "That'll be him now," she said softly.
Even the air around us changed.
I tried to calm my breathing as the footsteps got closer and closer. What was going to happen to me? Would he let me leave, or was I now trapped here forever?
And most importantly - why did the mere thought of meeting him make my skin tingle with something that felt surprisingly like excitement beneath all my fear?
What's happening to me
?
The door handle started to turn, and I held my breath...
