Chapter 68 The Moment to Pick Up My Brother

Chapter 68 The Moment to Pick Up My Brother

Quinn's POV

"Quinn?"

I didn't answer Grayson because I was pretending to be asleep. Because honestly being in the same car with him in this situation made things awkward. Even if I kept my eyes open, we wouldn't have said anything either and just kept quiet. So rather than adding to my discomfort, closing my eyes was a good choice.

"Looks like you're very tired," he murmured.

I don't know what he was doing, but there was a noise and then a warm soft object covered my upper body. "The weather is getting colder. You should stay warm."

If he had said that before the news of his relationship with Kelly and before our contract termination, I probably would’ve blushed because of his sweet act. Unfortunately now all the attention he was giving now felt fake in my eyes.

I don't know, right now every time I see Grayson's face, my heart boils. However, it's still ringing in my ears how he asked me to leave his life when I tried hard to get him treatment.

At that time I was really panicking while he just thought my panic was something made up. How can I not be mad!

If it ends up like this, where he begs me to come back, he should think before he speaks. He should filter what comes out of his mouth. That way no one gets hurt and he doesn't have to turn into someone else like this for me to take him back.

After breaking up with Owen, I really filtered who could and couldn't come into my life. And since the breakup, Grayson was the first man I let back in. But it looks like my decision was wrong. It turned out that my experience and caution were not enough to detect a man like Grayson.

Grayson was a new species of man that I had met. He was very complex and hard to understand. Even now I still don't understand why he wants me back other than the ridiculous reason that I'm his fated mate.

After all, isn't there no reason for me to take him back? I mean, I'm not his therapist anymore either. Well although I still have a debt to pay to him, but that's two different things.

As for the penalty debt I have to pay, I can find another job even if I have to go back to doing part-time jobs in 10 different places. As long as I don't go back to selling myself to him in order to fulfill his superstition, as long as I don't go back to being his. Because after all, my pride is now more important than anything else.

"We'll be there in a moment."

It seems like the car turned a corner because I felt the thing Grayson had wrapped around my body earlier move until it touched my nose. Which unluckily made my nose feel very itchy.

I wanted to scratch it but if I moved, then my disguise would fail. But on the other hand it was so itchy that I wanted to sneeze.

Unable to take it anymore, I decided to move my nose in hopes of getting rid of it. But that only made it go up under my eyes.

I was really frustrated and wanted to end it all. But just before I opened my eyes, it suddenly lifted up so that my nose was now free of itching. It happened when the car had just stopped.

Which is when I heard the noise again from beside me. Soon there was the sound of a car door being opened. It wasn't the one next to me but it seemed to be on Grayson's side.

I was desperate to open my eyes. It turned out that Grayson was walking to the other side of the door. Where I hurriedly closed my eyes again.

Sure enough, Grayson opened the car door next to me. After that I felt his hand touch my arm. Not only that, I could also smell his perfume so strongly, even his breath hit my shirt.

Wait, he wants to kiss me? No. This can't be happening.

I opened my eyes and intended to push him away. But because our heads were too close, I accidentally bumped my head against his.

"Ouch!" I immediately touched my forehead, which was in a lot of pain. Because even bumping a human head hurts, let alone this Grayson, an athlete, who is much stronger. So the pain multiplied so much that it numbed my nose.

"Oh fuck, sorry Quinn, I didn't mean to." Grayson held my hand that I was using to cover my face.

I struggled but he pushed it away from my face so now I can see his face which looks... panicked? I don't know. His eyebrows furrowed and his jaw tightened, the things he always did when he wasn't satisfied with something.

"Your forehead is reddened."

Obviously because your head is like a rock, I said inwardly.

I didn't expect Grayson to blow on it afterwards and rub it gently with his hand. "Shhh, it's okay. The pain will go away soon."

"Let go of me," I said firmly. And miraculously, Grayson did exactly what I said. He completely let go of my hand that he had been holding. So now I used both hands to push him away.

I rolled my eyeballs and chuckled. I saw that his forehead was also red. Tsk. He might not even realize it.

"Don't exaggerate. Now quickly take me to meet Dylan," I demanded firmly, not accepting any more excuses.

Grayson leaned forward. I thought he was going to do something crazy, but instead he closed the car door behind me. And then he took a step back, clearing the way for me. "Please go first."

I didn't refuse. After stomping one foot hard, I walked haughtily in front of Grayson.

This way I hoped he knew that I was no longer his to control. He had to obey my orders or he would never see me again.
