Chapter 66 He’s Taking Care of My Brother

Chapter 66 He’s Taking Care of My Brother

Quinn's POV

I reflexively distanced myself from Grayson. "You kidnapped Dylan? You hid him?"

Grayson held up both hands. "No, it's not like that."

I prepared to get out, even with my hands on the door handles. "If you lie this time, I won't give you another chance to give any explanation."

"Yes, you can do that, Quinn," Grayson replied solemnly.

I then took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. I tried to suppress my emotions in order to think clearly. "Explain everything from the beginning."

Grayson nodded. "While we go to my house." He then started the car.

I was surprised when Owen suddenly banged on the side windows beside me. He looked at Grayson with a tightened jaw. His mouth opened and he said something but I couldn't translate it.

"He said not to forget to tell him if you've met Dylan," Grayson says. I thought he was going to roll down the glass but instead he moved the car. Which caused Owen to back up and get left behind.

I jerked my arm up and gave Grayson a disgusted look. "Explain now," I ordered.

He then slowed down the car. He also made the air cooler by turning down the air-con. "First of all, I'd like to clarify that I didn't kidnap Dylan, he came to me."

I gave Grayson a sharp glance. "How could Dylan possibly know where you are?"

"He said he's been looking for me in several places. To my house and finally to the arena. And we met there. He was waiting for me outside."

In this cold weather? Oh Dylan, what were you really thinking! Please don't go crazy like these two men, please.

"I was shocked, that was my first reaction. Because he’s in a wheelchair and alone."

I laughed discordantly. "Maybe it's more like you were disappointed because Dylan wasn't with me. Am I right?"

"Quinn, can you stop roasting me for a second? Just for a second until I'm done talking."

I rolled my eyes.

"After that I asked him why he was looking for me."

"And what was his answer?"

"He asked for my help to save you from Owen. Because he said you guys were arguing and... because he knows you and Owen broke up because Owen cheated on you and lied to you."

I was honestly speechless. I really didn't expect that to be the reason why Dylan left. On the other hand, I knew that the reason Dylan ran away wasn't because of me. And now I understood why he was like that, because I was guilty of not telling him the real reason and Owen was the one who gave a fake reason.

"So what else did Dylan say?"

"He asked about the reason we broke up. Okay please don't misunderstand me. I knew what he meant, and I answered that it was because of a third person but not because I cheated on you. Am I right?"

Grayson didn't cheat on me, but... I can't believe that he said I was his fated mate. So right now, I still think the reason I terminated the contract was because he no longer needed me and... because he couldn't trust me. After all, I can't work for someone who even doubts my loyalty.

"So how did Dylan know I was there when I didn't tell him?"

"Actually, it wasn't Dylan who told me."

"Then?"

"I guess." Grayson looked at me through the rearview mirror. "The place you're probably visiting is the place that's most precious to you. And like you said, your old flat holds a lot of memories with your mom and Dylan. So I concluded that you might be there. It turned out to be true and I'm very grateful that my guess wasn't wrong."

But it still feels very coincidental when I think about it. I mean, Grayson could have come to my old flat when I was visiting other places, and vice versa. But what happened this time was as if we were destined to meet again.

Or, was this MoonGoddes' plan for us?

"That's what happened, Quinn."

I exhaled my breath harshly. "Now drop me off here."

"What? Aren’t we supposed to meet Dylan?"

I pulled away until I was backed up against the door. "Did I say I trust you?"

"But you got into my car so I thought you wanna go to my house."

I chuckled. "I got you in the car because I didn't want Owen to hear about our personal business because he only knows that..." I turned my face away. "He doesn't know that I'm also your bed partner. So it's not because I agreed to come with you. Besides, I don't know if you're telling the truth or just bragging."

"I'm not lying, Quinn, really." Grayson slowed the car down again. "Wait, I have proof. Dylan took it himself because he said you wouldn't believe me so I had to show it to you."

I honestly wondered what evidence Grayson was referring to. But then he handed me his phone.

"The password is 230925."

I shifted my gaze from the phone to Grayson. "Why did you tell me your phone password?"

"Because you need to see the evidence. And the proof that Dylan was indeed at my house was in that phone."

I sighed but then entered the password. When it opened, what I saw was Dylan's selca against a very familiar backdrop, Grayson's penthouse.

"Did you see it? I hope that makes you believe that I didn't kidnap Dylan or force him or make it up he was there. Because he himself asked to show you the photo and he took it himself."

I really couldn't believe Dylan would do that. I mean, how could he be so trusting of Grayson who he had only met once? It was really weird.

"So, now you're still gonna come with me and won't ask to be dropped off on the street?"

I glanced at Grayson sarcastically and threw the phone at his thigh. Without answering, I leaned my head against the window and looked out. I had no reason to refuse now since my goal was to meet Dylan. Even though Grayson's penthouse is one of the places I don't want to visit again because it holds too many of our memories, including being a witness to what activities we have done in order to fulfil his superstition, but since Dylan is there, I can't help but set foot there again.
