Chapter 40 She's Adorable When She's Cranky

Chapter 40 She's Adorable When She's Cranky
Grayson's POV

Stupid, stupid, stupid!

You idiot, Grayson!

Argh. I just revealed something I shouldn't have told Quinn right now. As a result, Quinn now knows that I did some things for her outside of my position as her boss.

Now she must be very suspicious. Maybe she doesn't believe the reason I gave her. Because she's still asking for another answer.

If I explain everything, there are many things I've done that Quinn doesn't know about.

My goal is simple, I want to make her life easier. It's not because I want to take advantage of her so she owes me a favor and is bound to me. No, it's not like that. I'm not that cruel to my fated mate.

I actually want our relationship to develop naturally. Not to survive because there is something as a guarantee.

“So you don't want to answer?”

“I'll answer. But don't get mad. Okay?”

Quinn turned her face away and crossed her arms in front of her chest.

Oh look, she's even starting to sulk.

An idea flashed through my mind. Which was to hug her body and lay her down again. Then I hugged her petite body. That way she wouldn't be able to run away if she got mad.

“Let me go!”

“Not until I'm done talking,” I said firmly, not accepting any objections.

Quinn's breathing quickened, her body stiffened, and she refused to look at me.

I could only exhale slowly. I tried to put myself in her shoes. And my reaction would probably be the same as hers, or even more dramatic than that.

How could it not be? Someone I had only met less than a month ago suddenly knew my entire life story. From things that everyone knew to things that no one knew except me. I would definitely freak out too.

So that's why I became water this time while Quinn became fire.

“I've actually been researching your background since the first time I saw you. Like I told you. I do background checks on everyone who will work with me. It's just that...” I paused to see Quinn's expression. Once I felt it was safe, I continued. “I looked into you in more detail. That's the only difference.”

“Why?”

“Because you're different.”

“What makes me different from your previous therapists?”

What makes Quinn different is that she's my fated mate. But of course I couldn't answer like that.

So this is what I said, “Because I only get hard and cum multiple times when I'm with you. That's the reason.”

Honestly, I wanted to shut my own mouth. That answer sounded rude!

What's wrong with me? Why can't I face Quinn and act so impulsively like this?

Ah, fuck!

“Then I intended to help you because I thought you would be happy if your problem was solved.”

“Grayson, I'm not your lover.”

“You're not.” But you will be, I continued in my heart.

I love Quinn. I want her more than I want to play ice hockey. I want Quinn to be mine, and vice versa.

But I don't want her to know yet. Because I'm worried that if I reveal it, because the time isn't right, she'll leave me because she doesn't feel the same way.

I mean, I don't know if my feelings are mutual or one-sided. I don't know if Quinn loves me or still hates me.

Damn! If only I could read her mind, it wouldn't be this complicated.

Moon Goddess, this isn't fair. How come I can read everyone's mind except my partner's? You're so cruel, really.

“Then don't do things that are confusing.”

Huh? Which part is confusing?

As far as I know, I've made everything clear except for the fact that she is my fated mate. I've been honest with her about everything.

“If I never ask for help, then don't help me.”

Oh, of course not! I have to be the first to help her if she's in trouble. That's non-negotiable.

“Then what should I do?”

“Just be quiet if I don't ask you to get involved.”

“Watch you suffer alone? No, Quinn. You've suffered enough because you don't just live for yourself, but also for your brother.”

I snapped my fingers. "I was just about to bring that up. Now I want to ask you something. Did you do something to my brother too? I mean, did you also play around with his medical expenses? Because I deposited another administrative fee, but the hospital said it was all paid in full. When I asked for an explanation, they said there was a kind benefactor who helped me. So you were that benefactor?“

I nodded hesitantly. Then I explained again, ”I paid for Dylan's treatment until he recovered. But don't worry. If you feel uncomfortable, you can pay me back in installments. So just consider it an advance payment to ease your burden. Because, once again, I don't want your performance to decrease because you're working at so many places."

Quinn sighed heavily. “The point is, I have to always serve you with a perfect body, right?”

I had to nod. “Besides, you already belong to me. According to our contract. You are my therapist, so you are mine.”

Quinn nodded, but I interpreted it not as agreement but as disgust. I don't know, but every day I understand her body language better and better.

I then hugged her tighter. I pinned her legs between mine and buried my face in her hair. “I'm sorry, I was wrong.”

Quinn pushed my head away from her hair. “Then how did you know I was visiting my old flat? You weren't stalking me, were you?”

“I just happened to see you and wanted to give you a ride since our places are in the same direction. But then you didn’t take the usual route, you took a different one. So I followed you. I waited in front of your old apartment building because I didn’t want to bother you. When I heard the commotion inside, I immediately approached you without thinking twice.”

“Without thinking twice, you say? What if you got hurt, huh?”

“I'm fine.”

Quinn moved her legs. “I want to go home. I'm fine now.”

Ah, I think I can hold her back this time. “I'm sorry, but I've transferred Dylan to this hospital too. Don't you want to see him?”

“What?”

I covered my ears because of Quinn's shrill voice.
