Chapter 168 You Put Your Arms Around Me

Chapter 168 You Put Your Arms Around Me
Quinn's POV

"Sweetheart, we'll be back soon," Mom said goodbye.

As if he knew what I was thinking, Grayson gave me support by hugging me and rubbing my head.

"Yes. Hopefully the results will be good," I replied.

Mom and Dad finally followed the doctor and nurse to undergo tests like I had done. Meanwhile, Grayson led me to the waiting room.

He has become more sensitive now. He was showing his sincerity in growing into a good partner. And I really appreciated it.

"Gray Bear," I called softly.

"Yes, Quinny?"

I looked into his eyes alternately. "I think Dylan isn't my biological brother."

His eyes widened. "Why do you think that? Did your parents tell you?"

I shook my head slowly. "But from their pessimistic words, I think Dylan doesn't have the same parents as me. I mean, they even thought they weren't suitable donors for Dylan."

"Quinny..." Grayson leaned his whole body toward me. He stroked my hair gently. "I think they're just expressing other plans they've been considering. But that doesn't mean they're admitting Dylan isn't their child. I think it's just because they're prepared for all possibilities. I saw that they asked for the test without delay when the doctor asked."

Oh, really? I can't think positively right now.

All I could think was: why can't they just hope for the best?

That's what kept running through my mind since my mom spoke to the doctor.

"I'm not defending them. I'm just trying to see it from another perspective."

"Do you think my thinking is biased right now?"

I thought Grayson would give me a safe answer. Fortunately, he was honest with what he thought.

"Maybe. Maybe because your mind is in turmoil right now, so everything that doesn't go your way makes you think negatively."

"Then how do I deal with it?" I asked resignedly.

Grayson held my shoulders and turned my body slightly. "For now, just trust them and wait for the results. To relax a little, would you like to take a short walk around here? Maybe you'd like to sit in the garden for a while?"

I immediately looked behind Grayson, where the hospital garden was located. "That doesn't sound like a bad idea. But what if they come looking for me? I mean, I don't have their contact information."

"We'll be back in the same amount of time as the test you took. Agreed?"

I took a deep breath. "Agreed."

"Sorry it took a while." Grayson finally sat back down next to me. He had left for a moment without saying where he was going. And it turned out he came back with some ice cream in his hands.

He handed me one of the ice creams. "You usually eat ice cream when you're sad. Hopefully it will cheer you up a little."

Of course, I accepted it gladly. "Thank you so much, Gray Bear."

I didn't think he would notice such a small thing that meant so much to me. I thought he was someone who didn't pay attention to details, but I forgot he was an athlete.

I also never knew that letting someone who loved me help me would make my problems feel lighter.

My fears were valid, but Grayson's efforts were also real. So now I feel calmer and safer.

"You can eat everything. Don't think about dieting or limiting your food intake. Do whatever makes you happy. Okay?"

I smiled to show that I appreciated his efforts. "Aren't you eating too?"

"I don't wanna take your portion," he said teasingly.

I reflexively hit his arm. "You're always annoying."

"It's okay as long as I can keep seeing your smile and laughter."

"Your wish is so simple," I quipped.

He stretched his arm behind my back, resting it on the chair. "It's not that simple, babe. If you smile and laugh, it means you're happy. And making you happy isn't easy. So it's not simple."

"Actually, it's easy as long as you know how," I replied while eating his ice cream.

"Oh, then show me how so I can copy you."

Suddenly, he wiped the corner of my mouth. "There's ice cream left." Then he licked it.

That was pretty naughty. But that wasn't my focus right now. My focus was that I wanted to be more open and let him know what I always wanted.

"So how do I do that, babe?"

"Don't disappoint me. That's all."

Grayson blinked his eyes. "That's it? You're not asking me to love you?"

"That covers everything!" I replied a little loudly. "We are already lovers. You're my boyfriend, so I think you love me. Or am I wrong?"

"No way, babe. You're right."

I smiled slightly. "Well, since you love me, you just need to not disappoint me. And it's not as simple as that. Because it means you don't lie, cheat on me with other women, or think about hurting me."

Grayson suddenly slapped his forehead. "Oh my gosh, babe, thank you for helping me see it more broadly. I didn't see it that way before. I really have a lot to learn."

Seeing him look so disappointed made me feel sorry for him. So I gave him the rest of my ice cream. "It's okay. The important thing is that you continue to have the ability to keep learning. That's what partners are for, to remind each other. So that both can grow and continue to walk side by side for longer."

"I want forever, not just longer."

I don't know why, but I chuckled. It was the most confident words I had ever heard come out of Grayson's mouth.

It meant that he was trying to align what he had said earlier with his actions. And that was one of the conditions I looked for to see a man's sincerity.

"Babe, the nurse is coming."

Because of Grayson's words, I finally looked behind me. It turned out that the nurse was already very close to us.

I stood up with Grayson. This is where my heart started beating fast again. And Grayson tried to calm me down by holding my hand tightly.

"Ma'am, are the results out yet?"

The nurse's face, which had been expressionless, was now as bright as the sun, very cheerful. "There's good news. Mrs. Blair can be a donor for the patient."
