Chapter 158 Decision
Quinn’s POV
Does his treatment require Grayson and I to be apart for a while?
Oh, I don't know why I can't think positively right now.
I don't know if this is really the procedure or if there's something else behind it. I can't tell the difference.
Even now, I'm unsure if taking this step would be equivalent to sacrificing my relationship with Grayson. Because, from everything that has happened up to this moment, it all feels interconnected, like cause and effect.
I don't think Grayson can do anything either. After all, he has to finish his games, so it's impossible for him to accompany me there. It would be selfish of me to force him or for him to force himself to come.
So if I agree to this treatment for Dylan, it means I have to be prepared to stay there until who knows when.
"Wait, wait. You mean you want Quinn to stay with Aunt Hellen? That's so far away. I can't be far from her."
I looked at Grayson. I could understand his reaction. Because I was also shocked.
"Because it's impossible to do it in the middle of a city like this, Grayson. We're thinking about whether humans will be disturbed by this activity or not," explained Mr. Talon.
If that was the reason, then I felt it was pointless to protest. It seemed like it was a final decision.
"Then why do we have to separate? I can visit and accompany Quinn when there are no games." Grayson suddenly grabbed my hand. "So don't say we're going to be apart for a while. I'll still try to see Quinn every day."
Grayson's parents were silent. I don't know if they were confused about how to respond to Grayson's words or because they already knew how it would end.
And to break the tense atmosphere, I finally gave in and spoke up. "Will this really work? I mean, I understand that my efforts are also a determining factor. But is this really the best way and can it guarantee that Dylan will get what I'm trying to do for him?"
"Yes, sweetheart. We can guarantee it," Mrs. Talon replied without hesitation.
I turned to Grayson. "Then I'm in."
Grayson kissed my hair. "And I'm ready to help you, babe."
I responded with a smile. Honestly, I felt relieved that Grayson wasn't defensive or selfish. He was willing to work for our relationship, not just give up.
As for Grayson's parents? I didn't want to worry too much about what they really thought. The important thing was that Grayson understood the situation well.
"Thank you for understanding, gray bear," I replied warmly.
Grayson pursed his lips. "Hey, don't thank me. I'm the one who should be thanking you for still being by my side until now."
We are both lucky, that's what I want to think right now.
"All right, if you agree, sweetheart, then we can start after Hellen gives us the date," explained Mrs. Talon.
I glanced briefly at Dylan's room. Soon, I would be able to see him as the Dylan he used to be, and he could also become stronger, at least for himself.
And after all that happened, I was curious about the reactions of the people in their pack. I really wanted to see how they would react if they found out that the child of someone they tried to separate from their partner could actually have their own wolf and also the abilities that were so needed in the pack.
I hoped that after this was over, they would realise that whether human or werewolf, if two people were meant to be together, they should not be separated.
"For now, only I need to go there, right?" I asked to confirm.
"That's right. Dylan can stay here. Later, when the time comes, we can take Dylan there too," explained Mr. Talon.
I nodded in understanding. And even though I didn't want to smile, I forced myself to do so. "Thank you for your help, Mum, Dad. I'm very happy."
It seemed that Grayson knew that the words "I'm very happy" that I had said in front of his parents were just empty words. Because after his parents left, he immediately followed me, who was sitting by the pool.
"Put on the blanket, babe. It's still cold lately." He wrapped the blanket around me. Then he sat down next to me. Not forgetting, he also held my hand.
I, who really needed comfort, leaned on his shoulder.
He quickly stroked my head. "You're sad. I can feel it."
It wasn't a question, and it was spot on.
But instead of expressing what I was feeling, I chose to remain silent.
"Actually, it's a choice, not an obligation, Quinny. But I really support you if you choose it for Dylan's sake. Dylan would be so proud and happy to have a sister as kind and caring as you. So let's make this sacrifice something that will find beauty in the end."
I reflexively pulled my head away from his shoulder. "Where did you learn those words?"
He shrugged. "I think I've become more mature and wise after knowing you."
I chuckled. "Really?"
Grayson nodded as he returned my head to its original position. Then he looked ahead, at the cityscape still covered in snow. "I'm never tired of telling you that I've learned a lot from you. You complement my shortcomings, Quinny. And I'm very grateful for that."
"But we have to be in a long-distance relationship. Can you do it? Can you handle it?"
Grayson chuckled and playfully flicked my nose. "If you can make the sacrifice, then I should be able to do even more. Isn't a couple who understands each other the best kind?"
I nodded quickly. "Yes, and thank you for understanding our situation."
"Of course, my love." He kissed my forehead. Then my nose and stopped at my lips.
I could feel his warm breath and the scent I loved so much.
My eyes watched his lips intently. "Promise me you'll stay by my side no matter what happens in the future. Okay?"
"I promise," he replied, seemingly without thinking. But I knew he meant it.
I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him warmly.
And after a moment, he lifted me up and carried me like a koala. Without asking, I already knew how this would end.
