Chapter 142 The Hidden Truth

Chapter 142 The Hidden Truth
Quinn's POV

I raised my head higher. "Why should I be afraid of you? Give me a reasonable reason."

"I don't need to give you a reason because you should be afraid of me."

"Oh, not anymore."

Hanz stepped forward. He kept walking until I was cornered between the wall and his body. "Just because you're different now, you think you can fight a strong Alpha like me?"

"Yes, why not?"

"You!" He punched the wall right next to my face. "Grayson isn't here to protect you right now."

"So what? I can defend myself."

For a hot-headed man like Hanz, what I said was certainly very annoying for him. Therefore, he punched the wall again, repeatedly until his hands turned red.

Meanwhile, I didn't blink at all. Which then made him stop, breathing heavily.

"You're so arrogant."

I chuckled. "You're talking about yourself, huh?"

"I'm not arrogant! You're the one who doesn't like me."

"Pfft. Apparently, you're also in denial. Defense mechanism, huh?"

"You're not my psychiatrist, so don't judge my behavior!"

"Oops, so my guess was right."

Without me asking, Hanz finally pulled himself back. Maybe because he was tired of arguing or because he knew he would lose.

"No wonder you and Grayson are a good match. You're both annoying."

I held back my laughter. "Of course. Don't two people get along if they have things in common? And yes, we're both annoying, just like you said."

"Well, but you should know that your relationship won't last long."

"Oh yeah? Why? Why do you want to separate me and Grayson so badly?"

"Because he's so annoying and cocky. He thinks he's the best. Very arrogant."

"Isn't that true? Grayson has been the best player for the past few years. You have to admit it, rookie."

Hanz's eyes turned red. He clenched his fists. "He was just born earlier than me. Other than that, I can definitely beat him."

"Then beat him on the rink," I said firmly. "Play fair. Show that you're capable. If you really think you're better than Grayson, then prove it."

"Of course I will. I'll take the title he's held all this time. With a little distraction, of course."

I rubbed my temples. "Please don't tell me this childish behavior is because you actually like Grayson and are jealous of me."

"Shut up!"

I finally laughed. "Don't bother yourself with gossip about us. Even if the media is fooled, it has no effect on our relationship. Because we love each other."

Hanz laughed too. "I wonder if you can still say you love him after you find out that the reason your mother left you was because of their pack, Grayson's pack."

I immediately stopped laughing when he mentioned my mother. "What do you know about my mother?"

Hanz smiled crookedly. He leaned forward, bringing his head close to my ear. "I know a lot because we're in the same pack."

"You mean... the werewolves... are my mother?"

"That's right. And your father is an ordinary human with no special abilities."

I clenched my fists. "Tell me everything else you know about my mother. Where is she now? Tell me if you know, please."

Hanz pulled himself back. He raised one eyebrow. "So now you're begging me?"

"Yes, I'm begging you. Tell me."

Hanz clapped his hands and laughed lightly. "What a great secret. You've even changed 180 degrees. From a fierce lioness to a docile goose."

I didn't care what Hanz said about me. But I cared deeply about what he knew about my mother. That's why I finally made a very big decision.

"I'm willing to grant your wish if you tell me more about my mother and introduce me to her."

"Whoa, whoa, relax. That will definitely happen. But for now, at least you know enough, or maybe you'll reconsider your decision to keep your relationship with Grayson."

Hanz took something from my hair, which turned out to be a snowflake. "The choice is yours. You can decide whether to continue or break up with Grayson. Once you've decided, let me know. And I'll decide whether or not I'll tell you about your mother."

In other words, Hanz wanted me to break up with Grayson. Only then would he introduce me to my mother.

Hanz then cleared his throat. "You don't have to worry that I'm lying. Because fellow pack members don't lie. We protect each other."

I tried to pull myself together again. "So that's why you started those rumors?"

"Yep. Besides the fact that I hate Grayson, I also want to protect you from making the same mistake your mother did."

"But she's still alive, right?"

"She's happy in our pack."

I finally breathed a sigh of relief. "Please take care of her."

Because even though I hated her for leaving suddenly without explanation, she was still my mother. I needed her explanation about all this, including where my father was.

Hanz smiled. "Of course. She's safe there."

I nodded. "So what else do you wanna say?"

"Nothing. We have to go back inside before the others get suspicious."

It seemed that few people were suspicious about Hanz and me leaving the restaurant. They were the White Tiger players.

I knew this because after I went inside and delivered food to another table, some of them mentioned my name and Hanz's. Some even openly called me over to their table.

But I tried to ignore it all. I remained professional in serving the customers.

And the more I ignored them, the more they mentioned my name. Until it also disturbed other customers.

"Are you the one named Quinn? Why don't you just go over there and see them? Tell them to be quiet. I wanna eat, not listen to someone's love story," said the customer curtly.

I could understand her frustration. The thing was, Hanz's gang was noisy. Surprisingly, they were public figures, but their attitude was really bad.

"Hey, don't tease her," said Hanz.

I was currently standing with my back to their table. But I could still hear clearly when a chair was moved.

And sure enough, after that I could smell Hanz near me.

When I turned around, I found him right behind me.

"What are you doing? You can't do anything crazy here," I said emphatically.

"I just wanna help you." Hanz's hand rose, almost touching my shoulder.

But before that happened, someone roughly pushed his hand away.

And someone was Owen.

"Get your hands off her, Mr. Miller!"
