Chapter 8 You’re Simply a Superhuman
For Ethan, with the serum's power surging through his body right now, these people might as well have been moving in slow motion.
He simply shifted his body slightly, easily dodging a machete slashing toward his face, then delivered a backhand jab that shattered his opponent's jaw.
Immediately following with a spinning back kick, he sent another bodyguard reaching for his gun flying over thirty feet away, smashing into and breaking an ornamental tree.
The crisp sound of shattering bones and blood-curdling screams echoed throughout this luxurious estate.
Not a single bodyguard could withstand even Ethan's most casual move.
Mia, hiding behind Ethan, couldn't even see how he was attacking!
All she saw was Ethan's figure transforming into a streak of black lightning through the crowd, and wherever he passed, those tall, burly bodyguards came crashing down.
In just two short minutes, from the gate to the hallway, unconscious bodies lay everywhere, yet not a single drop of blood had splattered onto Ethan's custom-tailored suit.
Stepping over the field of "corpses," Ethan kicked the door open.
In the center of the hall, Xavier and his father Hayden were carrying several bulging luxury travel bags, looking panicked as they prepared to flee toward the back door.
"Damn it! Die, you monster!"
The moment Hayden saw Ethan, his eyes nearly popped out of his head in terror.
He had been very confident in his security force, which was why he'd taken time to pack more things, but he never expected the enemy to reach him before he could even leave.
Without hesitation, he pulled a gun from his jacket and squeezed the trigger hard, aiming at Ethan's head.
Bang!
The deafening gunshot echoed through the hall. Mia screamed and covered her ears.
However, Ethan simply tilted his head casually, and the bullet flew past his hair, shattering an antique vase behind him.
"What?" Hayden's eyes widened in horror, as if he'd seen a ghost.
Before he could fire a second shot, Ethan had already appeared in front of him as if teleporting, grabbed Hayden by the throat, and squeezed hard.
Crack!
His neck bones shattered. Hayden's head slumped limply to one side, and he collapsed like a pile of mush, dead instantly.
"No! Father!"
Xavier, standing nearby, watched this scene in absolute terror, his pants instantly soaking wet.
His trembling hand reached for the gun at his waist, but the moment his fingers touched the grip, Ethan's heavy kick had already slammed viciously into his ribs.
Thud!
Xavier flew out like a cannonball, crashed heavily into the wall, spat out a mouthful of blood mixed with chunks of internal organs, slid to the ground, and died on the spot.
The few personal servants who had originally planned to protect their masters saw this scene, dropped their weapons in terror, and scattered with screams, as if fleeing from a devil straight out of hell.
In just ten minutes, what had been a luxurious estate was left with only a few corpses and the pervasive smell of blood.
Mia stood at the doorway, looking at this scene like something out of hell, her big eyes filled with indescribable shock.
"You... you're basically Superman..."
Mia swallowed hard, her voice trembling. Before coming here, seeing Ethan's confident expression, she'd thought he had a massive mafia or mercenary army backing him.
But it turned out Ethan had taken down the entire Thorne family by himself!
Ethan pulled a handkerchief from his pocket and methodically wiped his hands.
"Just taking out the trash." Ethan didn't linger, simply turned and walked toward the estate's exit.
However, on this bloody night, even Ethan with his remarkable perception didn't notice something.
Among the servants who had scattered in panic from the hall earlier, a figure in a servant's uniform with a somewhat hunched posture was pulling down his cap brim, using the shadows as cover to silently slip out through the estate's secret door.
That person was the Thorne family's butler.
He looked back deeply at the estate filled with the stench of death, his old face covered with extreme fear and malice, then quickly disappeared into the endless night.
Getting into the black Aston Martin, Ethan started the engine and drove onto the highway back to the city.
"Those moves you pulled were so cool! Who are you exactly? A superhero? A mutant? Or some underground mafia godfather?"
In the passenger seat, Mia showed none of the terror from earlier in the back alley. Her beautiful big eyes sparkled with undisguised curiosity and excitement as she pestered Ethan with questions.
Ethan controlled the steering wheel with one hand while rubbing his temples with the other in exasperation.
He was now getting a taste of just how annoying this girl could be.
Having just witnessed a one-sided bloody massacre, any normal girl would have been scared into a mental breakdown, but she was excited like she'd just watched a Hollywood action blockbuster.
"Tell me your home address, I'll take you back."
"Go home?"
Hearing this, Mia's previously animated face instantly fell.
She suddenly lowered her head, her shoulders trembling slightly. When she raised her head again, her big eyes were already brimming with tears.
Mia bit her red lips, her voice choked with emotion, as if she'd suffered a terrible injustice.
"I was forcibly kidnapped from another state. My ID, my wallet—everything's gone. If I get out of the car now, it won't be long before I starve to death on the streets, or get grabbed by another gang and sold off..."
Ethan glanced at her through the rearview mirror, the corner of his mouth twitching almost imperceptibly.
This clumsy acting was even more full of holes than the punches of the Thorne family's bodyguards.
However, Ethan didn't immediately call her out.
From the composure this girl showed when facing a floor full of corpses, and the undisguisable ease in her every gesture, she was definitely not some ordinary girl.
Keeping her around to observe and figure out her true identity might be more valuable than letting her go.
"Alright, stop acting." Ethan sighed, a hint of helplessness in his tone. "You can stay at my villa for tonight."
"Great!"
Mia, who had been "heartbroken" just a second ago, instantly beamed with joy.
Ethan shook his head and floored the accelerator.
Half an hour later, the sports car stopped in front of a luxurious hillside villa occupying a vast area in a wealthy district.
This was a property Noah had arranged for him in advance. The security and privacy were top-notch. Mia looked around, a flash of surprise in her eyes.
"I really couldn't tell—you've got pretty good taste." Mia casually picked up an apple from the table and started munching on it without any hesitation.
Ethan stood not far away, watching her with deep, penetrating eyes.
A girl claiming to be homeless and kidnapped, facing a top-tier villa worth tens of millions of dollars, showed no awkwardness, awe, or shock whatsoever.
This was definitely not how an ordinary girl should react.
Ethan withdrew his gaze without saying much and turned toward the master bedroom.
"Second floor, first room on the left is the guest room. Go wash up."
