Chapter 40 The Untouchable Bottom Line
"Since you're all so eager to die, I don't mind lending a hand." Ethan stared at Silas and coldly spat out the words, his tone so calm it sent chills down people's spines.
Layla pointed at Ethan's nose and cursed him out.
"You think you're still in your MIT lab? You're nothing but a broke bottom-feeder now! Security! Where the hell is security! Get this ex-con and this bitch thrown out of here!"
Along with Layla's shrill screaming, two burly, fully equipped security guards had already roughly pushed through the crowd and were striding over with unfriendly expressions.
"Sir, please show us your party invitation!" One of the guards said coldly, his sharp gaze sizing up Ethan from head to toe, his right hand instinctively resting on the stun baton at his waist.
Ethan glanced at the guard, his tone indifferent: "Don't have one."
He and Evelyn had been brought in directly by Clara. In this manor, Clara's face was the highest level of access pass—where were they supposed to get an invitation from?
"Ha ha ha! I knew it!"
Hearing Ethan admit he had no invitation, Silas and Layla immediately burst into extremely smug and wild laughter.
"You hear that? They don't have invitations at all! They're just broke thieves who snuck in!"
"Not only stealing stuff, but daring to hit people here! Hurry up and drag them out, break their arms and legs and throw them in the Hudson River to feed the fish!"
At this, the guard's eyes instantly filled with murderous intent.
Sneaking into the Foster family's territory without credentials and even daring to cause trouble—this was just asking for death!
"Sorry sir, since you don't have an invitation, don't blame us for not being polite."
The guard snorted coldly, stepped forward directly, and reached out his rough hand past Ethan, grabbing straight for Evelyn's slender shoulder behind him!
Trying to forcibly drag her out!
The smiles on Layla and Silas's faces had reached their peak. They could hardly wait to see the miserable scene of Ethan and Evelyn being dragged out like dead dogs and trampled underfoot while being cursed at!
However, just as the guard's hand was about to touch Evelyn—
BOOM!
A dull, teeth-grinding sound of muscle and bone colliding suddenly exploded!
Everyone present didn't even see how Ethan made his move. They only felt a black shadow flash past like lightning!
The burly guard who had been so aggressive one second was completely lifted off his feet the next, flying backward violently!
CRASH!
The guard's heavy body traced a terrifying arc through the air before slamming hard into a champagne tower ten feet away!
SMASH!
The champagne tower worth millions of dollars collapsed with a crash, crystal-clear glass shards and golden liquid splashing all over the floor!
The guard lay in the mess, twitched painfully twice, his eyes rolled back, and he passed out cold.
This was with Ethan deliberately holding back ninety percent of his strength. After all, this was Clara's territory, and making things too bloody would put her in a difficult position.
If this had been the abandoned factory from before, this guard would already be a pile of mush.
One second.
Just one second.
The banquet hall, which had been noisy and full of mocking insults, suddenly fell silent.
The sound of guests gasping echoed from every corner. The arrogant smiles on Layla and Silas's faces completely froze, their eyeballs nearly popping out of their sockets.
"Oh my God..."
The remaining guard watched his colleague get sent flying and his legs went weak, nearly kneeling on the ground.
He instinctively reached for the gun at his waist, but looking at Ethan's emotionless eyes, he felt a chill run from the soles of his feet straight to the top of his head. His fingers froze in mid-air, not daring to make any extra moves.
The killing intent on this man was too terrifying!
Those were definitely not the eyes an ordinary person could have. Those were the eyes only a true butcher who had crawled out of a battlefield could possess!
The guard trembled as he frantically pressed the radio on his shoulder, his voice shrill: "Calling for backup! Extremely dangerous individual in the main hall! Area A needs highest level support! Fully armed! Quick!"
Watching the guard's state, the stunned guests around gradually came back to their senses.
After breaking free from their initial shock, mockery appeared in these guests' eyes again.
"What a lunatic! So what if he can fight? Does he think he can take on the entire Foster family's private security team?"
"Exactly! This is Clara's territory! Hurting people at this party, this guy is definitely dead!"
"Ex-cons are ex-cons, stupid thugs with nothing but violence in their heads. He has no idea what kind of terrifying force he's provoked! Once the Foster family's armed security arrives, he won't even know how he died!"
Everyone around looked at Ethan like they were looking at a dead man.
In their eyes, although Ethan had displayed amazing combat skills, he was ultimately just a lone savage.
In the face of absolute firepower, even the hardest fists were laughable.
However, facing the mockery around him and the guard's frantic calls for backup, Ethan seemed completely unconcerned, as if he didn't care at all.
He didn't even glance at the trembling guard again. Instead, he casually pulled over a high stool, pressed Evelyn's shoulder to make her sit down, then turned and picked up a half-full glass of bourbon whiskey from a nearby unaffected table, gently swirling it and leisurely taking a sip.
He just stood there, quietly waiting for the so-called backup.
Watching Ethan's extremely arrogant attitude, Layla trembled with rage, her eyes flashing with vicious light.
Layla sneered through gritted teeth: "Ethan, you think you're still that MIT genius from before? You're just an ex-con now! Daring to cause trouble at the Foster family's party, even God can't save you today!"
Silas also said with a dark face, snorting coldly: "Honey, don't waste words on this dead man. After angering the Foster family, he and his cheap sister will be at the bottom of the river tonight!"
In just a few minutes, an extremely orderly, heavy sound of tactical boots stomping on the floor came from the corridor outside the banquet hall.
"Move aside! Everyone move aside!"
