Chapter 114: CHAPTER 114
AVARA
As the most powerful sorceress in this world, by now she would have felt the demon bats' aura before it even got to this point!
She didn't hesitate to accuse me of harboring dark forces the other day, and now that this is happening, she wants to tell us she didn't feel it?!
"Alphas, the magic holders are already on the battleground," A guard who was sent by Elvador to alert the sorcerers and sorceresses, came back to share his report.
On hearing this, one question came out of Hugo's mouth, "And Doveris? Was she there as well?"
"No, Alpha Hugo. Sorceress Doveris appears to be absent. No one has seen her around," The guard shared, stunning us all.
"Today of all days she's absent?!" Dean's anger came in, echoing around.
But it wasn't loud enough to beat the horrifying sounds coming from the approaching hurricane and the demon bats' cries!
"That woman!" Jay groaned, as we all looked up to the sky to see blazing lights from different corners, firing right back at the demon bats, preventing them from breaking into the pack.
The magic holders were at work, fighting back to save Crescent Moon.
Some were attending to the hurricane, using all their powers to blast at the mighty wind so it would vanish. But the dark strong hurricane only got stronger and fiercer, like it was mocking the powers of the magic holders!
"Alphas," I called out worriedly, gaining their attention on me.
Then I said, looking over at the terrified people packed outside the gate, "We need to get them to safety to an underground hideout. The wind won't be able to meet them there."
"We have the cell and the horses feed store," Elvador spoke up, giving me details of the places that have an underground base.
Hearing this and looking at the multitude, I immediately sent a guard to find any available sorceress or sorcerer to help out in expanding the underground hideout.
"I don't trust that wind. We need to shield everyone quickly," I said, looking back at the heavy strong wind.
The loud claps of the thunder echoed around, giving the hurricane the aura of a mighty unbeatable beast!
I heard the people scream in fear, as they began running away in fear, unable to stand and wait.
Hearing my orders, my Alphas sent some guards out to round everyone at each base Elvador mentioned, and also sent for available sorceresses and sorcerers to head over to each ground and begin the expansion.
"Go with them, Avara," Hugo said, signalling Lily to take me along.
But I didn't want to go.
"No, I'm staying with you," I said, refusing to leave.
But my Alphas didn't want anything happening to me. They wanted me safe and free from danger.
"You aren't well enough for this fight, Avara. Please, go with them and hide," Dean said, gently pushing me into Lily's care.
I turned to face them and saw Hugo already shifting into his werewolf form, getting ready for battle.
Then Jay said with a smile, reaching for my face with a gentle caress to my cheek, "Your Alphas will be back. We'll handle everything."
My insides turned heavy as I felt Jay's hand turning huge due to his transformation.
Before my very eyes, all three had shifted into their beast form, giving me one assuring look filled with a promise that clearly said 'Everything will be fine. Wait for us.'
"Take the Luna to safety," Jay ordered Lily before all three rushed off with speed, followed by some guards who had also transformed to fight along with the Alphas.
"My Queen, let's go," Lily called, taking hold of my hand, pulling me away.
My feet moved in response, my heart and eyes were fixed on this problem, and on everyone's safety, including my Alphas.
A piercing cry came from above, revealing an opening made successfully by the demon bats!
They began swooping in but didn't get too far because of the magic holders and the Alphas.
They dove right into action, taking out any bat that flew into the pack from the small opening!
"LUNA, THIS WAY!" Elvador, who joined the other guards to guide everyone to safety, quickly came to protect Lily and me, leading us to the cell.
The entire servants of the palace ran out of the palace, joining the crowd in heading to the safe zone.
In the process of that, a force suddenly held me back, stopping me in my track.
"My Queen!" Lily called, taking hold of my hand to pull me along.
Still, I wouldn't move!
It was as if my legs had glued themselves to the floor.
What's happening?
"Luna, what's wrong?" Elvador, who noticed I had stopped, asked at once.
My lips didn't move to give any reply. Instead, I turned around to look at the hurricane coming close and noticed something.
"That energy..." I said, fixing my eyes right on the strong wind, ignoring the demon bats accompanying it.
"The aura around that hurricane feels familiar!" I pointed out, feeling my insides boiling with a sudden heat filled with rage.
This felt so weird to me. I can literally feel the force this hurricane is bringing, and whatever it contains is making me... Mad!
I don't even know why I feel this way, but I have this sudden itch to approach it.
"Luna, we have to go, please," Elvador said, taking hold of mine and Lily's hand.
Before he could make me move, a weird force inside my body forced me to pull away from Elvador's grip and run off like a mad woman!
"LUNA!" Elvador and Lily yelled, chasing after me!
I ran, having no clue on what I was doing. All I could say was that my body sensed something out of place and wants me to act on it fast!
I didn't run straight into the pack, but ran into the stable where the flying horses were going wild over the danger approaching the pack.
Steel was going berserk too. He looked restless, like he's about to bring down the stable.
The moment he saw me coming, he broke the mini gate used to keep him in his stall, and rushed up to me at once.
I didn't hesitate to get on his back, ordering him to move.
Like the beast he was built to be, Steel dashed out of the stable, running past Elvador and Lily!
"MY QUEEN!" Lily called out loudly from behind, but I couldn't turn back and look at her.
Something was controlling me to go ahead, go faster, and act fast!
"Faster, Steel," I said to him, holding his mane tight, as he dashed with speed, ignoring the disturbing cries from the demon bats.
Another entrance has been made!
They're coming in fast!
Some bats had flown down to attack the guards and Magic holders fighting them.
Two dove towards my direction but crashed to the floor when Steel swiftly dodged them, making the bats crash into a building.
He wasn't going to let anyone or any being stop us.
"Good boy," I patted him, lifting my eyes at the hurricane.
The force coming from this beastly wind was stronger than when I was outside the palace.
And due to its heavy aura circulating everywhere... "No way," I gasped, finally recognizing this energy!
"Doveris?" That name slipped through my mouth like poison, as my insides burnt with more hate for this woman.
Every part of me, even my organs, says this is her doing!
But why?!
There was no time to find the Alphas and let them know what I discovered. Right now, my heart was telling me to stop the hurricane before it destroyed the dome completely and wiped Crescent Moon off the map!
But with what power?
How can I stop this wind?
Despite all these questions clouding my head, somehow the answer was coming to me.
"I know how to stop it," My eyes glowed, as a plan formed in my head.
Soon, Steel was out of the pack and charging for the beastly hurricane.
He began struggling to run ahead because the force from the wind kept pushing him back, almost sending us tumbling back!
I even had to direct him into another direction when a big tree came flying in our direction, almost knocking us out!
Steel responded in time and moved aside. But he wasn't lucky for long.
Another tree flew towards us and knocked Steel and I to the floor, pinning us to the ground!
Steel got injured on his leg, while I was trapped under the tree, calling out to him to see if he was okay.
"Steel!" I cried out amidst the heavy wind, until I saw my woolly beast lift his head a little to show he's okay.
I smiled, feeling glad. But I became worried when I saw more things flying furiously around, posing as a threat.
"Damn it!" I panicked, placing my hands against the tree, trying to push it off my body.
But what can a mere human's strength do? I'm weak.
Just as I was struggling to pull myself out, "HOLD ON!" A familiar voice said right next to me, taking me by surprise!
"Lily?" I stared at her in shock as she used her wolf strength to lift the tree off me and Steel's body!
She almost went full wolf, but shifted halfway due to the strength she used.
I crawled out with no injury, rushing over to Steel to check up on him.
That's when Elvador dove down into my direction with a flying horse, rushing over to check up on us.
"Steel, I'm sorry," I apologized sadly to my pet, as he lifted his head and licked me on the face.
"My Queen, you shouldn't be here?! It's dangerous!" Elvador said, ready to pull me over to his horse and send me back to the palace.
But I immediately stopped him and said to him and Lily, "I know how to stop this hurricane!"
They both looked at me in surprise, finding this hard to believe.
Without holding back, I said, glancing at the two horses they had brought along with them, "It's going to be risky, but you have to trust me. I can feel the main energy responsible for this. It's coming from inside."
"Luna, are you sure?" Elvador asked, shielding his face with his arm due to the intensity of the wind.
He had to hold Lily close and protect her. But he couldn't shield me because I had already rushed up to the horse Lily rode, and got on it before it staggered fearfully due to the wind.
"Trust me. This is the only way," I said, hoping they wouldn't stop me.
That's when Lily smiled at me and said, "We trust you, my Queen. But if you're going to be doing this, then I'm coming with you."
I smiled, having no plans to stop her.
"Wait, you two can't go. It's too dangerous," Elvador protested, not wanting us to go.
"Let me go instead, my Queen. I rather sacrifice myself than let the Luna get a scratch on her body. The people need you."
"Too late, Sir Elvador," Lily chuckled, getting on his horse swiftly.
"I'll go. Besides, the Luna is very stubborn and wouldn't take no. So, I'll go with her."
"But..."
"Elvador, please watch over Steel. We'll be back," I said, flipping the horse's rope, making it fly into the sky.
Lily followed me, flying by my side to protect me.
I rode the horse like it wasn't my first time. Even the height we reached didn't scare me at all.
"My Queen!" Lily called out loudly, making me look ahead to see some demon bats coming our way!
Luckily for us, Elvador's horse had his guard sword attached to it. So, when the bats came close, Lily pulled it out and charged at them, clearing the path for me.
I followed her from behind, setting my eyes on the hurricane from above.
There was an opening from the top. Doesn't this prove that it's abnormal? No attachment to the sky? Just moving on its own like it has a mind of its own?
Still, this opening is my entrance.
"I'm going in!" I said loudly to Lily and rode my horse closer to the wind.
The force from it kept making it hard for me to get close. So when I saw this, I took a risky move and jumped off my horse, plunging myself towards the hurricane!
Just like I hoped, I was instantly sucked inside the hurricane, tumbling crazily inside the body of this beast!
Composing myself was impossible!
"Oh God, help!" I groaned with my eyes closed, until I felt the tumbling around me ceasing.
"Huh?" I was confused and slowly opened my eyes to find myself in the middle part of the hurricane.
It was still windy, but the atmosphere felt light like gravity was still.
Just as I was trying to understand why it was like this, that same energy engulfed me from all around, making my whole body uncomfortable!
On lifting my head while floating in this space, my eyes went wide with pure rage as I spotted the cause of this disaster!
Doveris!
She was floating in the middle with her staff glowing bright like the sun, and her eyes also shimmering the same way like she's a goddess!
She's the one controlling the wind. She's helping the demon bats!
Overwhelmed with anger, I wanted to fly over to her side and give her a punch, but I held back, thinking about the safety of Crescent Moon and the people.
"I think her staff controls the wind. If I can take it away from her, everything will cease," I planned in my mind, sneaking slowly from behind.
But just as I was halfway close, the sounds of those devilish bats came in from above, alerting Doveris!
I looked up and saw those bats diving into the hurricane with ease, aiming for my direction!
Then when I looked back down at the sorceress, I met her wide shocked gaze on me like she had just seen a ghost!
Without uttering a word, Doveris swung her staff in my face, hitting me back!
My body almost got swept out by the wind, but I managed to pull myself into the space that kept me stable, before lifting my eyes to glare at this witch.
"You?" She spoke with pure disbelief, as the bats flew behind her, proving her alliance with them.
"How did you get in here?" She questioned, her eyes filled with shock.
I didn't give her a response but glanced at her staff, trying to figure out a way to get it without getting swept out.
"Hmm. It's okay," She shrugged, letting out a cunning smile.
Then in a blink of an eye, Doveris stretched her hand at me and I felt my neck tighten like someone was choking me!
I couldn't breathe! I was struggling!
"How you got here won't be a problem anymore. The only issue here is that you know my secret now, Human. You've seen too much... I can't let you live," She tsked pitifully at me, squeezing my neck tighter.
I gasped and struggled for air, as I pushed my body forward, still trying to grab the staff.
"Still fighting?" She laughed at me, enjoying my pain.
"They weren't wrong about you, Avara. You really are a strong girl. No wonder the Alphas can't let go of you. You're too perfect, almost like Aurora," She said as she frowned with bitterness, increasing the grip around me.
I couldn't even gasp again. My vision was going blurry.
"Goddess, help," I inaudibly said, feeling myself going weak.
"Don't worry, Luna. Once you die, I'll dump your body in the woods for the Alphas to find. Then with you gone, crowning Adira as the new Luna would be easy," She shared her plans, smiling at me.
I watched her as my body completely stopped moving and my eyes rolled back.
"Bye, Avara," I heard Doveris wish me goodbye, before my eyes went shut.
