Chapter 89

Yzabelle.

It was easy to think that way. It would be very convenient for me to accept the outcome of this meeting if that was the reason for my grandfather’s rudeness.

But how sure was I that Draco was telling the truth?

I could not believe I would be able to kill the King. I knew for a fact that I wasn’t the same hybrid that my father was talking about. I could not feel anything special.

And even knowing that I had a werewolf blood didn’t help either. I read that werewolves could shift as early as fourteen years old. I was already eighteen and I couldn’t remember I shifted just like how Corbin and his family did. I read that if a werewolf didn’t shift at eighteen, there’s the possibility that she didn’t have a wolf. And that was such a shameful thing for them.

Not that I have cravings for acceptance and validity in the were-world and such, now that I knew the rejection from my father’s family was excruciating. I didn’t want to suffer such pain again. I had more than enough pain, I could not handle anything more.

But I also couldn’t help feeling lonely that the only distinct thing that would definitely show I was my Mom’s daughter was gone.

What an unfortunate being I was.

Draco held my hand and squeezed it gently.

“Don’t think too much. Me and your Mom were very proud of whatever you had become. Sleep all your worries and tomorrow, we will start a new life… away from my kin and the werewolves,” Draco turned back over his shoulder. “And even with lycans,” he breathed with finality.

It was only then that I remembered about Killian.

I almost forgot that he was here with us, gambling his life and safety just to secure my safety and make sure everything would be fine. He was a lycan who fearlessly entered the vampire’s lair, for me.

I was certain he did that for me.

I was between being grateful and angry.

“You should have not come,” I told him. I decided to be mad rather than being grateful.

Honestly, I didn’t know how to sort my feelings right now. I was angry with his actions because I was worried his life would be put in danger if things went from bad to worse.

And I was surprised he didn’t measure up with my anger. Actually, I seemed to see a small smile ripped on his lips.

What just happened?

Oh!

I slapped my forehead. I almost forgot that he could read my mind. But he also said he closed it and was trying to give me privacy.

What happened to the privacy he just mentioned before?

Ugh!

“Let’s go, Yzabelle.” I heard Draco.

I was between coming with him and talking to Killian. And Draco must’ve hinted at it.

“Remember the deal you made with me?” he reminded me. “I did my part of the bargain. It’s your turn now,” Draco put his hand on my shoulder.

And before we could teleport back to the car, down the hill, I turned to Killian.

I locked eyes with him and our links suddenly opened.

‘I’m sorry, Killian. I guess it’s goodbye,’ I told him, trying not to break down.

‘No! You can’t do this to me, Yzabelle!’

I saw him move. But my father was faster than him. In a glance, Killian disappeared. Or it must be us who disappeared.

The next thing I knew, we were in front of Dad’s car. I thought we were going to ride it, but we didn’t. Dad gazed at the car and it suddenly blew out. A big fire turned the car into ashes.

“What are you doing Dad? How can we go back to the city—”

“You know that I have my ways, sweety. I just didn’t use it for the sake of the people around us. I don’t want them to get confused about why we suddenly disappeared from my office. It was more human to drive through here. And also, you must know that I was trying to live like a normal human,” he explained nonchalantly and wrapped his arm around my shoulder. “Let’s go home,” he said.

And in a blink of an eye, we were in front of our enormous villa. The silent night enveloped the whole manor. It seemed everybody was deeply asleep. No one would ever realize when we came and how we came.

“Welcome back home, honey,” he said with a small smile that ripped his lips.

But the smile didn’t reach his eyes, just as always.

“Don’t worry, it was just you and me and the servants again. I ditched Andrea and Hailey already,” he added.

I sighed deeply and heavily.

“I didn’t ask you to do that,” I answered instead.

“But they were no help either,” he shrugged. “I only brought them here for a purpose. Now that they don’t serve their purpose, it’s time for them to leave. I should not have brought them here in the first place.”

Draco turned to me. His eyes pinned to me. Then breathed a long deep sigh. I could sense the remorse.

And I felt sorry for him, for the favor I asked him to do for me.

“I should have told you everything. And I should not have distanced myself from you. It’s too late for me to realize that the decisions I made before, just gave you a hard time.”

I smiled at him and threw myself towards him. His arms wrapped around me.

“No, Dad. I am sorry,”

I started to sob while I was inside his arms, near his chest. It was cold, his body was cold. Yet, I loved the feeling of being enveloped with him. It never happened that he held me like this before, not until now. And I loved it. I love the feeling.

It was a different thing when Killian held me. But both felt special.

“I shouldn’t have pushed you to bring me to our ancestors. I shouldn’t have relived the wound of your past. I was certain you were deeply hurt by how your relationship with your family. You're trying to heal your wounds and what I did was—”

“It’s fine, Yzabelle. You forgot that I am a vampire. I am used to everything. The only thing that would matter to me is when your safety was at stake. So, don’t ever put yourself in any danger.”

I didn’t answer and tried my very best to calm down. Dad walked me inside the villa, to my old room while telling me to forget everything that happened tonight because we would definitely start anew, tomorrow.

And I didn’t say anything anymore. My mind kept on wondering about Killian.

Did he get home safe? What if the vampires followed him and attacked him?

It’s not right that we left him there.

“Sleep now. The man is the prince of the lycans. I knew my kin. They would never mess with him especially since they knew he was with us,” Dad assured me before he left my room.

I just nodded and laid to bed. And as the door closed, I still couldn’t help but think about Killian.

The moon was full, so beautiful and shining brightly through my big window. I could not help but utter a prayer.

“Please be safe, Killian. Even if we can't be together, at least be safe, my lycan prince.”
