Chapter 88

Yzabelle.

“Please, Conrad, no! He was still our son!” Grandma suddenly cried.

And even in her cries, she looked elegant and beautiful. How come someone could be this mesmerizing even while crying in despair and panic?

“You have to forgive him no matter what! You must understand how he felt after what he had gone through. And it was true it was our fault why he became like that.”

But it seemed the king was deaf to her queen’s pleading, in a swift moment, he attacked his own son.

No!

Things happened so fast. I couldn’t measure up to their pace. Every second passed, their outline appeared in every corner and every part of the wall.

My Dad was in danger and I couldn't let him be killed by his own father!

I didn’t know what happened to me but I just realized, I was able to catch up with their pace. In one swift move, I was able to grab my Dad and jump in between. The King still aimed to grab his son and I couldn’t let him. It was very quick and I didn’t realize I bit his wrist.

The King.

I bit him.

And drank his blood.

It weakened him before I realized it.

I let go of his wrist and his blood was dripping from my mouth.

I fed.

For the very first time, I fed.

And it’s the vampire king’s blood that I fed.

I saw how the king went dumbfounded upon realizing that I fed on him. It was our first meeting as a family and what I did was fed on him.

I was a monster!

The queen managed to grab her husband right after I let go of him. Both men had blood dripping down their mouths. But it was different from mine. Those blood came from them, mine came from the king.

Their eyes were both immaculately black. Chilling and screaming danger. Especially the King who quivered in great anger as he looked at me… or was it fear?

“Stop! Please stop!” the queen cried.

Everyone was stunned after the fight. No one dared to move, including Malcolm.

He must be shocked. And seeing him shocked means this thing rarely happened between Dad and the King. Or maybe something like this never happened, ever. Until now.

Or maybe the shock was because he saw his niece fed on her grandfather.

I didn’t know.

I already had a lot on my plate and sorting that out was none of my best concern right now.

What I did was unacceptable and that was my focus. I didn't know how to amend it.

The King was about to attack me again. I prepared myself to accept the punishment, but someone suddenly covered me.

And there, I smell the familiar scent. The same scent I would always want to enjoy. The same scent that calmed me, protected me.

Killian…

What was he doing here?

“The lycan prince.” The vampire king said upon seeing Killian. “Don’t you think it was dangerous to come alone and gate crash the other realm’s party?”

“I would not be here if I didn’t sense someone belonging to me was here and in danger,” Killian answered.

“You entered here without invitation. You should face the consequences of your temerity.”

The next thing I knew, Killian was having a fight with the King. And once more, it was a complete chaos. I’d gone crazy. Just a while ago, it was my Dad who was in danger. And now it was Killian.

I could not let the danger escalate even more.

My body did a quick response to what I was seeing. I hurried to them and caught the King on his neck. I didn’t realize what I was doing and I sent him flying through the wall. I grabbed him and pinned him, gazing at him.

I saw the reflection of my eyes through his. They were glowing in green, almost blinding him.

“Please, I don’t want to do this to you. I still believe you are my family but if you kept on hurting those who I loved the most, I would not forgive you.” I warned him.

I didn’t want to sound like I was threatening him. But it seemed to come out just like that even how much I tried not to.

“You…” the King whispered, his eyes turned to its natural color—red. “You’re a hybrid made from a sin. You are certainly a fruit of a sin. I could not accept you in my family,” he coldly said.

And it hurts.

It deeply hurt me.

He seemed to mercilessly slice my heart into pieces just by saying those mean words.

This wasn’t what I was expecting in coming here. I just wanted to meet them, to have a light conversation with them. Know our origin. Know a lot about them. Because all of these were new to me. I just wanted to be enlightened.

But I was treated like this. If I wasn’t a meal, then I was a sin to them.

And he was correct. I read the laws of two different realms. I could not blame him if that was his verdict upon this meeting.

I seemed to have lost my energy, so I let him go.

Killian was suddenly beside me and pulled me away from the vampire king, shielding me, protecting me.

But I could never be hurt physically just as I was hurting emotionally.

The other vampires surrounded us. I could tell they were just holding themselves back from attacking us. But now, they seemed ready.

“Stop!” I heard the vampire king roar around the whole place.

He gazed on us once more, this time, it was his normal face—no emotions. Yet, he was radiating with imperial power.

“You better not come here ever again,” the King dangerously warned us. He looked straight at Draco. “I am disowning you from this very moment, you ungrateful child of the darkness.”

“You are the darkness you are talking about, your highness.” Draco hissed and grabbed my wrist.

“Let’s go, Yzabelle. We don't need their acceptance. We are better off without them,” he whispered.

Everyone made way for us as we left the castle. I was still shocked and hurting, I couldn’t breathe a word.

I felt Dad lightly squeeze my hand.

“You shouldn’t be upset, sweetheart. We should celebrate because we won,” he said.

The gate was closing behind us. It locked and was suddenly covered with dark mist.

“What do you mean?” I whispered.

I didn’t have the energy to celebrate after hearing the last words from my own grandfather.

“He just remained rude to cover his fear. I heard his thoughts. He saw his future in your eyes. If he doesn't stop fighting against you, you’ll probably be able to kill him. No one could kill the vampire king. But he met you, his worst nightmare.”
