Oh, I certainly am
Oh, I certainly am
Saviour's POV
“Do we look like fools to you?” Aul seethes. “If you noticed Knightgale Pack was going to hurt my nephew, then you should have gotten that information across to the alpha King.”
“How could I? When my own son won't communicate with me.” Mother feigns innocence.
“That's not enough of an excuse. You should have reached out to any other pack. As far as I know, the king has never raised a bounty on your head.” Alpha Maxwell says fiercely.
Mother sobs. “I only wanted what's best for my grandson. I didn't think trying to help would bring me so much pain…”
Loud claps echo through the hall. “Amazing performance!” Leo exclaims, striding in through the back door where he'd insisted he'd rather be.
Well I guess that has changed now.
I send him a glare but he only smirks.
“Amazing performance Lenora. I always knew you had a dark soul but I didn't think it'd last this long.” He sighs, walking up to me as murmurings rise in the background.
Leo bows exaggeratedly. “Although I am enjoying the show, I'd hate for this to drag on when we can just get to the end of it all. I did promise Milly lunch after this.”
“Leo,” I warn, his interruption annoying.
“You really believe she wanted to save Solan?” He asks with a scoff.
Of course not. I know who she is. I could never again fall for her lies.
“Now if the hunters were meant to save Solan, why then did they cut him so many times with their swords… I saw those marks, Lenora.”
My heart clenches just imagining the pain my boy had to go through.
“And for you to want that for an innocent pup proves just how insane you've become. You should be the one behind bars, not Callum.” Leo glares at her.
“You son of a bitch!” Mother seethes.
“Oh, I certainly am.” Leo smirks. “Son of an abusive bitch. I guess no one can refer to you as such considering you have no child…”
“Saviour, would you allow your brother speak to me like this?” Mother tears up.
“That's Alpha King Saviour to you.” Victor thunders, his correction making her fume.
“She wanted the boy taken to her hideout. She said nothing about saving the dang kid.” One hunter hisses.
“What do you have to say for yourself now?” I ask her. “Are you finally done lying?!” I growl, hating her more than I ever have before.
“Fuck you! All of you.” Mother screams, the veins in her neck straining. “You failed me, abandoned me to suffer and struggle alone. I am living like a rogue when my son is the alpha king. Put yourself in my shoes.” She yanks her arms but fails to pull them free from the guards.
“I wanted you to pay for everything. If you'd just accepted the throne while your father was still alive, we'd have been living our best lives. But no… you chose that mutt!” She shouts.
“So you thought it wise to kill my son?!”
“I wasn't going to kill him.” She breathes. “I was saving him but I also was going to get your attention. Make you crawl on your knees to me. AS YOU SHOULD!”
“Lenora, that's enough!” Alpha Maxwell's voice echoes, drowning out her voice. “You had several choices to get the king's attention but you chose the worst one.”
“I did it for my blood!” Mother snaps. “For Solan! He deserves better than that mutt for a mother. I was going to protect him.”
“Protect him?” Leo barks a laugh. “You literally handed him to them… to die.”
She opens her mouth to speak again but doesn't get the chance.
“No more excuses, Lenora” Alpha Nathan scowls. “You’ve brought shame to every pack. Associating with our enemies.” He spits out.
“I say she should be banished, Alpha King Saviour.” Alpha Maxwell shoots, earning nods from other alphas.
“No, then she'll only return. It's obvious she's not willing to give up anytime soon.” Aul grunts out.
“Lenora, from now on you will live in the dark dungeons of the northern pack where you will spend the rest of your miserable life.” I say bitterly.
“NO!” She screams, dragged off.
“Any objections?!” I shout.
When I hear nothing, I breathe out. “Then it's sealed. Next!”
Nexus glares at me from his knees, his body trembling terribly.
“We had a deal, Nexus. One you eventually signed on paper. You were told the contract will be breached if you were to ever hurt Solan. You couldn't wait two more years for him to make his decision. Now you'll wait a lifetime.” I seethe. “From today, Knightgale loses every right to hold claim of my son. Every bond Deathfang Pack ever had with the Knightgale pack is annulled today.”
“You can't do that?! We will never survive without the true heir.” He seethes, struggling against the guards firmly holding him down.
“As for your punishment, I'll let the council decide.” I mutter steadily.
The alphas begin murmuring to one another. Words are whispered and nods are given but after about five minutes, Alpha Maxwell speaks. “We've reached a conclusion,” he says.
“And?” I ask.
“Elder Nexus and the elders who'd plotted the heir's kidnap should be banished before sunrise. Never to be seen in this region again.” He finishes firmly.
“Then he is banished. Him and every other elder in Knightgale Pack.” I say.
“You will regret this!” Nexus shouts. “You think you can keep Solan locked in here forever? A day will come when he'll realize something is missing. He'll return home himself…. He will never find peace with you!”
“Get him out!” Raven growls, breathing hard with fury.
Nexus fights as they drag him out. “Let me go! You will regret this. All of you…”
My eyes fall on the hunters.
“What does the council suggest for these ones?” I ask, needing the judgement to come from them, not me… not Raven. That way it'll lessen her guilt.
“Kill them!”
“They should be eliminated for good. They are not only a threat to Deathfang Pack but every other pack.”
I raise my hand, getting everyone to stay mute for a while.
“It will be done as you've suggested. Alpha Nathan,”
“Yes, Alpha King.” The man bows.
“You are in charge of the execution.” I state earning a nod of approval.
The hunters also struggle as they are led out, leaving only the young man who exposed them.
His head kisses the ground, his body shaking in fright. “Please don't kill me. I was only following orders.” He cries.
“But you still raised your hand against the heir to the throne. Do you deny it?” Aul speaks.
The boy shakes his head. “No, Alpha. I didn’t know… it'd end up like that.”
“Intent does not erase action,” Alpha Maxwell voices.
The man sobs. “Please, I don’t want to die.”
“Your punishment will not be death,” I say with assurance. “But you will serve… two years of labor within this pack.”
“THANK YOU,” The boy collapses forward, his teary eyes filled with relief. “Thank you,”
