Amelia's p. o. v
"You have a mate!" She asked on top of her voice.
"No, I don't. But I know deep down my heart that he will be very handsome and sexy." I blurted the words out in defense.
She kept quiet and gave me a suspicious eye for a few seconds.
"If you have, you can tell me. You don't have to hide it, you know." She muttered under her breath.
"I told you already that I don't have one." I said nervously then bumped her shoulder to mine.
"Okay, if you say so." She answered.
"Look, if I was already mated would I still be a virgin?" I asked softly.
She kept quiet then shrugged.
"I had no idea that you were a virgin." She answered then smiled warmly.
"It feels good to know I'm not the only one who lacks experience in that area." She finished.
I chuckled softly then sighed.
"You are not alone. I'm a virgin and I'm not mated, if I was, I could have been marked by now because we both know how possessive the males are when it comes to their females." I said.
My words were painful. Very painful, and it was taking everything in me not to shade a tear or show my sadness.
I rubbed the temple of my neck and stood up.
"Now tell me, do you have any idea what the numbers on the door ..." I stopped talking when I heard the loud voices coming from the passage.
Toni quickly stood up and walked to the door opening it. She was about to go out when I quickly moved and grabbed her wrist tightly.
I was scared of what might happen to her if it were the warriors in the passage. Not all could pass her by easily. She was pretty and she had that innocence in her eyes that I had never seen before.
She turned and nodded in an assuring gesture.
I hesitated before letting her go. She walked out leaving the door open.
I stood stuck to the ground looking at the open door seriously. Was risking my own life for her worth it?. Even if it wasn't for her, was it okay to walk into the darkness blindly or without a touch?.
I knew the answer was no, but then again I was curious to find out what was happening and going on.
I forced myself to move and follow slowly. My breath was becoming unstable with each step I took.
A group of she-wolves were surrounding a tall elderly woman, with grey hair and wrinkles. Her smile was friendly and she looked calm.
"Today among all days, why?" One lady whined as the others murmured.
"We all know what happens when you don't follow the rules." The elderly woman said.
"We do Nana. It's just that we were looking forward to the warriors visiting us." The blond that had yelled at me previously answered.
I moved closer and stood behind the group looking at the elderly woman who now had a sad expression on her face.
"You all know that the alpha's condition is very complicated. Right now he seems irritated by everything easily and that makes him very dangerous. For your safety, I want you girls to keep away from him. And as you all know, at the night of the full moon you are forbidden to go out of this Mansion no matter how hungry you get or how sick you become, so keep my words in mind." She said as fear washed all over me.
What condition was she talking about?. Was Ian sick!. What was wrong with him!.
A lot of questions were going through my mind and my wolf was feeling the same way as I was.
"Now ladies, you can all go back to your rooms." The woman said with a smile.
"Thank you, Nana." They answered together and began going back to their rooms.
Toni walked in front of me and smiled at me. I wanted to smile back but my attention was at Nana who was now going downstairs.
"See, I did good to walk out of the room. If I didn't, we wouldn't have..."
I rushed past her and quickly followed Nana without stopping myself. My legs moved on their own because my heart couldn't stop me from doing just that.
"Nana," I called on the stairs when she was about to walk out of the mansion.
She quickly turned and looked at me coldly as I approached her.
"I'm so so.. rry." I breathed heavily while leaning in and pressing my hands on my knees to calm myself down.
After a minute of feeling better, I stood upright and faced her.
"I'm sorry for stopping you in such a disrespectful manner ma'am." I said honestly.
She glanced at me from head to toe then folded her arms.
"What can I do for you, young lady?" She asked seriously as I flinched and quickly lowered my gaze to the ground.
Her voice was no longer friendly or kind. It was very intimidating and held power. Her eyes too were cold and her stance distant. I told myself silently that it was impossible but the woman was acting like a female beta or delta would.
"I...." I opened my mouth but my words couldn't come out.
She dropped her hand and took a step closer as I quickly moved back.
"Oh my, are you sick?" She asked in her friendly voice.
When I looked up to meet her eyes. She had the friendly look I saw from the stairs.
"No ma'am. I wanted to show my respect to you since I am new in this Mansion." I answered with a slight bow.
"What are you doing!. You were about to ask her what is wrong with our mate." My wolf growled furiously as I ignored her.
"Oh, that's so rare having someone do that." She said with a hint of pride in her voice.
"I'm so sorry again for stopping you, ma'am." I whispered.
She smirked then waved her hand at me slightly.
"It was nothing...." She trailed off.
"Amelia," I answered.
"Amelia. It is a pretty name, just like the owner." She said as my cheeks heated up.
"Thank you, ma'am." I answered.
"If that's all, I'll be taking my leave, do get some rest." She said then turned and walked out before I could ask her what I truly wanted to know.
"You let her go! My wolf growled loudly.
"Yes, I did. That woman isn't just an ordinary she-wolf, you felt it too that's why I refuse to risk my life for just asking a question that might anger her." I answered then turned to walk upstairs when I came face to face with the blond lady and two other companions beside her.
Crap. I cursed silently before putting on a fake smile across my face.
"Is there a problem?" I asked softly as the blonde chuckled.
"It hasn't even been a day and this bitch has the decency of wanting to win favour from Nana." She spat with detest.
What!. Did she think I wanted to be on that woman's good side?. She was unbelievable.
"I don't know what you mean by that miss, but I just wanted to ask her about my room. Nothing more." I lied.
She looked at her two friends then back at me with a glare.
"Did you just lie to us?" She asked loudly.
Let me think. I did!. So what was she going to do about it!. She was exactly like Merbal, her kind were the worst!. They wanted to pick on the weak and new members so she could secure her position of leader or most beautiful and desired.
"I didn't lie to you. I just...."
I took in a sharp breath when her palm touched my cheek in a slap.
"How dare you lie to us. Do you know who we are!" She screamed on top of her voice.
A few other ladies were beginning to look at us from the stairs. I was furious, very furious.
I clenched my hands in fists then breathed out and smiled. I wasn't going to hit her back or fight back, it would only bring me unnecessary attention and pain. I went through that and I saw how hard it got for me. I wasn't going to willingly walk into such a path.
"I'm sorry miss. Next time I won't do it again." I said softly.
"Better." She said then turned with her two friends and went upstairs.
As I watched them disappear, tears filled my eyes. Not because I was sad or in pain. It was tears of anger that were threatening to fall. I was dying to give her back the taste of her own medicine, sadly I couldn't.
