Chapter 68 068

Chapter 68 068
LYKA

The truth about Morgan’s identity shocked me to my core, but deep down, I couldn’t deny that I had already sensed something off about her. There was always something unsettling in the way she carried herself...too composed, too sharp, too calculating. So hearing that she was not just a wolf but something far more dangerous… it only confirmed my instincts.
Still, what irritated me the most wasn’t even her identity.
It was Derrick.
I could tell he was worried about me, and that alone should have softened my stance a little, but the fact that he was openly warning me...because of another woman...irked me beyond reason. It rubbed against my pride in the worst way possible.
So instead of backing down, I did the exact opposite.
“Oh really?” I said, tilting my head with a mocking smile. “So you mean the great demon Alpha can’t even tame a crazy witch running around his territory?” I let out a soft scoff before my tone hardened. “Too bad for her… because if she dares to trespass into my space again, I’m going to kill her.”
The last part wasn’t a joke.
Not even close.
Witch or not, hybrid or not...if Morgan dared to cross my line or threaten what was mine, I would show her exactly why she should have never made that mistake.
Derrick’s gaze lingered on me, unreadable as ever.
“What about you?” he asked suddenly. “Why can’t you be tamed?”
I raised a brow, completely thrown off by his question.
“What kind of nonsense are you saying?” I scoffed. “Do you want to tame me?” I crossed my arms, giving him a look. “I’m pretty sure I’m the least of your worries right now. You’ve got bigger problems to deal with.”
I winked at him playfully as I turned around, ready to walk away...
But before I could take another step, strong arms wrapped around me from behind.
My body went rigid instantly.
Alert. Defensive. Ready.
“You devil!” I roared, reacting purely on instinct.
Without hesitation, I drove my knee straight into his groin.
He let out a pained groan, and I spun around immediately, my claws unsheathing as I prepared to attack...
Only to freeze.
Derrick stood there, bent slightly, his face contorted in pain.
For a brief second… I was stunned.
He didn’t dodge.
He didn’t even try to stop me.
“What...” I blinked. “You’re still the same…”
He let out a strained breath, clearly trying to recover.
“Are you trying to end my entire bloodline with me?” he groaned, his voice tight with pain.
I bit my lower lip slightly, forcing back a smile as I made an innocent face.
“Sorry,” I said lightly, though my tone carried mischief. “But what’s the point? We don’t need jerks like you reproducing anyway.”
Before he could respond, I turned and rushed out of the room, heading straight back to mine.
My heart was still racing slightly...not from fear, but from the strange tension that lingered between us.
Today had been… exhausting.
And despite everything that happened, I still hadn’t gotten the answers I was looking for.
I found myself standing in the middle of a dark forest.
The transition was so sudden that it took me a moment to even register where I was.
Tall trees loomed over me, their twisted branches blocking out most of the sky. The faint glow of the moon barely pierced through the thick canopy, casting eerie shadows that danced unnaturally across the ground.
The air felt heavy.
Oppressive.
Wrong.
I didn’t know how I got there… but I was there.
And somehow, that terrified me more than anything.
The wind rustled softly through the leaves, carrying an unfamiliar scent that made my instincts scream in warning. My chest tightened as unease crept in.
“What is going on here?” I muttered, my voice barely above a whisper. “What is this place…?”
Before I could finish, a strange aura pulsed through the air.
It was sudden.
Sharp.
Overwhelming.
Every instinct in my body screamed one thing...
Run.
And I did.
My legs moved before my mind could catch up, my feet pounding against the forest floor as I sprinted blindly through the darkness.
My heart slammed violently against my ribcage, each beat echoing in my ears as panic set in.
I didn’t know what I was running from.
But I knew I couldn’t stop.
Branches scratched against my skin as I pushed forward, my breath coming out in quick, uneven gasps. Fear clawed at my chest, tightening with every step.
If I stop… I won’t make it.
That thought alone kept me going.
Then...
A flash of dark lightning streaked across my path.
I gasped, my body jerking in shock as I stumbled and fell hard onto the ground.
“Ahh!”
Pain shot through my limbs as I scrambled backward, my hands trembling against the dirt.
The darkness in front of me twisted unnaturally, swirling like a living entity.
“Why are you running?”
The voice echoed through the forest, deep and distorted.
A cold chill ran down my spine. My breath hitched.
Someone… is here.
“Who’s there?” I demanded, my voice shaky despite my attempt to sound strong. My eyes darted around, searching desperately for the source...but there was nothing.
Nothing… except the darkness.
“What is going on?” I continued, my voice cracking slightly. “Who are you? Why are you messing with me?”
Silence.
For a moment, everything went still.
Then...
“What?” the voice echoed again, this time sharper. “You’re asking me that?”
The darkness shifted closer.
“You belong to me.” My eyes widened.
Before it could get any closer, I pushed myself up and ran again, faster than before.
My legs burned, my lungs screamed, but I didn’t stop. I couldn’t stop.
But suddenly...
My body froze.
My legs refused to move.
No matter how hard I tried, they wouldn’t obey me.
“You can’t run from me,” the voice growled, now right behind me. “I will come for you… you are mine.”
The presence surged forward...
“Ahhh!”
I screamed as everything shattered.
My eyes snapped open.
I was back in my room.
My chest rose and fell rapidly as I gasped for air, sweat clinging to my skin.
“It… it was just a dream,” I whispered, trying to steady my breathing.
But something felt wrong.
Too real.
Far too real.
“Why did it feel like that?” I murmured, sitting up slowly.
That was when I noticed it.
A faint scent lingered in the air.
My gaze shifted to the bedside table...
And there it was. An incense stick. Burnt halfway.
My brows furrowed immediately.
“What is this doing here?” I muttered, reaching out to pick it up.
Something wasn’t right. That dream…
And this incense…
They couldn’t be a coincidence.
The moment daylight broke, I wasted no time.
I called for the maid in charge of my room, my patience already wearing thin.
“Who placed this here?” I asked, holding up the incense.
The maid hesitated slightly before answering.
“Lady Zuri instructed me to place it there,” she said nervously. “She mentioned you’ve been having trouble sleeping.”
A scoff escaped my lips.
Of course.
So it was her.
I turned sharply, ready to confront Zuri immediately...but the maid’s next words stopped me in my tracks.
“Do you want to know about the former Luna?”
My steps halted.
Completely.
Something about those words… pulled at me.
I slowly turned back to face her.
“What do you mean?” I asked quietly.
She stepped closer, her expression unreadable.
“If you want to survive Lady Zuri’s schemes,” she said, “then there are things you need to know.”
A strange feeling settled in my chest.
Uneasy.
Heavy.
Why do I feel like I’m stepping into something dangerous?
Elysia stirred within me, her voice low with concern. This doesn’t feel right…
But I ignored her.
I needed answers.
“What do you know about the former Luna?” I asked, my voice steady despite the tension building inside me. “And how capable is Zuri?”
A slow smile spread across the maid’s face.
“How much do you want to know?” she asked. “Because it’s quite a long story.”
I walked back to the bed and sat down, patting the space beside me.
“Everything,” I said firmly. “Tell me everything. I’m not in a hurry.”
