Chapter 67 067
LYKA
I slowly turned around to look at him, my brows furrowing in confusion as doubt crept into my mind. For a brief second, I wondered if I had misheard him.
But the moment my eyes met his....cold, steady, and completely unblinking....I knew I hadn’t.
He wasn’t joking.
He wasn’t mistaken.
And most importantly… I hadn’t heard wrong.
A wave of surprise washed over me, followed quickly by disbelief. I needed to hear it again....needed confirmation, even if it would only make things worse.
“What?” I asked, my voice sharp. “Did you just ask for me to be thrown out?”
From the corner of my eye, I caught the smug expression on Morgan’s face. She looked utterly pleased, like she had just won a long-awaited victory.
But strangely… it didn’t bother me. Not even a little.
“What?” Derrick said calmly, already walking past me. “I’m not referring to you.”
Before I could process his words, he grabbed Morgan by the arm and pulled her forward.
“I was referring to her.”
I blinked, completely thrown off.
Her?
What did he mean by that?
Morgan looked just as shocked as I felt.
“What?!” she exclaimed, her voice rising in disbelief. “You were talking about me? Why should I leave when she’s the one causing trouble?”
I scoffed under my breath, irritation bubbling up again.
Where exactly did this troublemaker crawl out from?
“What do you mean she’s the one causing trouble?” Derrick’s voice turned colder, sharper. “Aren’t you the one who came here uninvited and barged into the pack without any regard?”
I stood there silently, watching the exchange unfold, my confusion deepening with every passing second.
What exactly was going on here?
Morgan clicked her tongue, clearly displeased. “Fine, I admit I should have informed you earlier,” she said, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear in an oddly calculated gesture. “But that doesn’t mean someone else should be occupying my room. Especially a freeloader.”
My eyes darkened instantly at her words.
Freeloader?
Who raised this ill-mannered girl?
“Your room?” Derrick repeated, his tone laced with mockery. “I don’t recall assigning one to you.”
Morgan froze for a second before her cheeks flushed red with embarrassment.
I didn’t interfere.
This clearly ran deeper than a simple argument, and for now, I preferred to observe.
“Just because you didn’t assign it doesn’t mean it isn’t mine,” she argued stubbornly, trying to regain her composure.
I watched her, baffled.
Why was she suddenly acting coy? Just moments ago, she looked like she was ready to tear someone apart.
They really suit each other, I thought bitterly. Two pretentious people.
‘No,’ Elysia purred softly, her tone filled with possessiveness. We suit our mate better… not that witch.
A faint chuckle escaped my lips before I could stop it.
“Care to share what’s so funny?” Morgan snapped, her voice sharp as she glared at me.
I ignored her completely and turned to Derrick instead.
“I know you two have a lot to discuss,” I said evenly, “but can I go back into my room now?”
Morgan sneered immediately.
“What do you mean?” she snapped. “I want that room. I want my room back!”
Her whining tone grated on my nerves as she clung to Derrick, insisting on her claim.
“Alright then,” Derrick said after a pause. “Lyka will leave the room for you.”
Morgan gasped in delight, her face lighting up instantly.
But I froze.
“What?” I exclaimed, disbelief flashing across my face.
I wasn’t pleased....not even slightly....but I held myself back. I knew better than to create a scene.
‘What? Is our mate taking her side over ours?’ Elysia growled, her anger rising dangerously.
I stayed silent, waiting for Derrick to explain himself.
Just then, I noticed someone approaching from the corner of my eye.
Zuri.
I frowned slightly, wondering what she was doing here, but I didn’t ask. It was obvious....she must have heard the commotion.
How clingy, I thought irritably.
“What’s going on here?” she asked, scanning the scene.
I closed my eyes briefly, exhaustion washing over me.
Why does everything have to happen at once? Can’t I have even a moment of peace?
“You’ll be sleeping in my room,” Derrick said suddenly, his voice firm. “That settles it.”
A gasp escaped my lips before I could stop it.
I wasn’t the only one.
Morgan and Aiden both reacted as well, their shock mirroring mine.
What is he thinking?
‘Oh my…’ Elysia cooed excitedly. Our mate is bold. I like this.
I ignored her and turned back to Derrick, ready to question him....but Morgan beat me to it.
“You mean if she leaves this room, she’ll sleep in your room?” I asked anyway, my voice steady despite the turmoil inside me.
He nodded without hesitation.
Morgan’s expression darkened instantly.
“What do you mean by that?” she snapped. “She’s not sleeping in your room!”
Before the situation could escalate further, Derrick grabbed my arm firmly and pulled me away from the hallway.
I stumbled slightly but followed him, too stunned to resist.
He led me straight into his study.
“I’m not sleeping in your room,” I said quickly, trying to free my arm.
But he ignored me.
“I don’t need your so-called consolation prize,” I added, my tone sharp.
The moment we stepped inside, I turned to face him, ready to argue.
“Did you think doing this would....”
“You can relax,” he cut in calmly. “When you return to your room, she’ll already be gone.”
I blinked, confusion flickering across my face.
“She knows better than to fall for bait,” he continued.
And then it clicked.
He had used himself as bait.
A distraction.
A calculated move to get Morgan away from me.
But before I could react, his next words caught me off guard.
“Don’t provoke her,” he said seriously. “She has a bad temper… and she’s not someone you should toy with.”
I frowned, surprised.
“What do you mean I shouldn’t provoke her?” I asked.
Derrick turned to face me fully, the moonlight streaming through the window and casting sharp shadows across his face.
For a moment… I was stunned.
He was undeniably handsome....dangerously so.
It made me wonder why so many rumors surrounded him… but then again, I already knew the answer.
He wasn’t just handsome.
He was ruthless.
“Because she’s more dangerous than you think,” he said quietly.
I let out a small scoff.
He was warning me about someone else being dangerous....as if he wasn’t the most intimidating person in the room.
Corny demon, I thought.
“How dangerous could she be?” I challenged. “More dangerous than you?”
He smirked faintly.
“How does a witch sound?” he asked. “A powerful one.”
My breath hitched.
“What?” I whispered, shock rippling through me. “A witch? But… she smells like a wolf.”
Derrick shook his head slowly.
“She’s a hybrid,” he said. “A special one.”
My chest tightened instantly, the weight of his words sinking deep.
A hybrid…?
That meant....
Everything just became far more dangerous than I had imagined.
