Chapter 149

Chapter 149

By the time Quentin arrived with people from the Design Association, the exhibition hall was already empty, with only a few people left cleaning up. Even Alexander had rushed back to the company to discuss with the PR department how to minimize the impact of the exhibition incident.

"What took you so long?" Sabrina, her eyes still red, looked aggrieved when she saw Quentin and rushed over to him.

Seeing something was wrong, Quentin quickly pulled Sabrina aside to ask what happened.

After asking around, he learned that Charlotte had caused trouble again.

Quentin looked at Sabrina, who hated Charlotte with a passion, and licked his teeth: "Don't worry! I'll definitely help you get revenge."

"Thank you." Sabrina smiled through her tears.

'Charlotte, do you think you can rest easy just because you successfully registered for the design competition? You're too naive!' she thought to herself.

Meanwhile, the moving car suddenly stopped.

Looking at the puzzled Charlotte, Landon got out of the car first: "Come on, I'll take you for pasta."

Charlotte was even more confused.

Right after leaving the exhibition hall, Landon had called her into the car.

She thought he wanted to scold her, but until now, he hadn't said anything.

"But—"

Landon cut her off directly: "I was the one who handed you that glass of wine earlier. It's not too much to ask you to buy me pasta now, right?"

Charlotte was completely stunned.

She had basically disrupted the Forbes Group's event, and he really wasn't angry at all?

Thinking this, she asked out loud: "You're really not angry at all about what I did back there?"

Landon paused, smiled, and even looked at her with eyes crinkled in a smile for a while: "The Forbes Group is the Forbes Group, and I am me."

Indeed, a genius thinks differently from ordinary people.

Charlotte finally felt relieved and lifted her head slightly: "Okay, I'll treat you to dinner."

Landon raised an eyebrow: "Let's go then."

After a while, looking at the small alley ahead and the unremarkable pasta restaurant with its simple tables, Charlotte wondered if Landon had come to the wrong place.

But Landon sat down casually and even thoughtfully wiped the chair next to him with a handkerchief.

After confirming it was clean, he glanced at her: "Sit down."

"This place doesn't look like much, but it's been run for two generations. The taste is authentic. You'll know once you try it."

Seeing Landon sitting there calmly without any disdain for the restaurant's environment, Charlotte couldn't help but think of Alexander.

Alexander was not only picky about food but also extremely particular about where he ate.

They were both from the Forbes Family and only three years apart in age, yet so different.

Charlotte thought about this as she sat down.

As soon as she sat, Preston, the restaurant owner—a simple middle-aged man—hurried over: "Mr. Forbes, you're here again?"

Seeing Charlotte beside him, the owner's eyes lit up: "This girl is beautiful! But this is the first time I've seen you bring a girl here—"

Landon glanced at Charlotte's slightly flushed face and quickly coughed twice to cut him off: "Preston, two bowls of beef pasta."

"Coming right up." Preston tactfully left.

Charlotte was stunned.

How did Landon know she liked beef pasta?

At this moment, Landon looked over.

Meeting her slightly dazed gaze, he said casually: "When you came to my house for dinner before, you finished that whole plate of beef pasta by yourself."

Charlotte hesitated: "Did I?"

Landon narrowed his eyes with a half-smile: "Are you doubting my memory?"

Charlotte wasn't stupid!

She wouldn't doubt anyone, especially not Landon, who was hailed as an "investment genius" in his youth.

Fortunately, Preston brought the pasta at that moment, easing the awkwardness.

Charlotte carefully took a bite first. It was indeed as delicious as Landon said—the noodles were chewy and the sauce was rich.

In the end, Charlotte ate the entire large bowl of pasta and licked her lips with a satisfied smile.

Though she did it discreetly, Landon still caught it.

After finishing and returning to her apartment building, just as Charlotte was about to unbuckle her seatbelt, Landon suddenly called out: "Don't move—"

Charlotte jumped: "What's wrong?"

Landon quickly leaned over: "There's something on your eyelash. Let me get it for you."

Charlotte had put on light makeup today. Her already fair skin looked smooth and flawless, without a single blemish.

Landon looked quietly for a moment before gently raising his hand.

A bit of lint was stuck right on her eyelash. Landon held his breath and carefully reached out his hand, his fingertip gently brushing under her eye, moving as slowly as if tracing a priceless masterpiece.

Feeling his touch, Charlotte inexplicably tensed up, and even her breathing became shallow.

After what seemed like forever, Charlotte finally heard a slightly husky voice by her ear: "Done."

Charlotte fled in panic.

Back in her apartment, she realized her face was burning hot.

Rushing into the bathroom, she splashed cold water on her face repeatedly, reminding herself over and over that Landon was Alexander's uncle, and his concern for her was just familial care.

So what just happened was really no big deal.

Downstairs, Landon still sat quietly in the car, lost in thought.

After a while, just as his slender fingers touched the steering wheel, his phone suddenly rang.

Landon pressed the speakerphone directly.

"Mr. Landon Forbes, what happened at the exhibition has quietly spread. People are also talking about Mr. Alexander Forbes and Sabrina. Should we intervene?" The assistant's words were tactful.

Landon curved his index finger against his lips, thoughtful for a moment: "No need. Give it a little push at the right time."

The assistant immediately understood: "Got it."

After hanging up, Landon looked up at the building once more before slowly driving away.

Sabrina's exhibition was a disaster.

Alexander was furious in his office. He wanted to hold Angela accountable, but to everyone's surprise, Sabrina actually pleaded for Angela, saying she was just temporarily blinded by resentment. Besides, the brooch had been recovered, and given Angela's humble origins, they shouldn't pursue legal action against her.

Alexander couldn't argue with Sabrina in the end, so he withdrew the charges and just fired Angela.

They retured to the Forbes Family estate.

Cynthia entered from outside and angrily slammed her handbag down!

"What bad luck!"
