Chapter 108
"Sorry, Mr. Sinclair." Ms. Hill hesitated before speaking up. "How about I take you out for lunch?"
Alexander refused briefly and directly, "I'm injured. I don't eat out."
Ms. Hill knew when to stop. She smiled and nodded. "Alright, maybe next time. I'll get back to work now. Mr. Sinclair, take care of yourself and rest properly. Don't overwork."
He didn't respond.
Lila thought Alexander was really like a block of ice.
Cold and hard.
Ms. Hill must be pretty pitiful to like someone like him.
After Ms. Hill left the CEO's office and closed the door, Lila looked up at Alexander again.
He acted as if nothing had happened, working with the same expression as before Ms. Hill came in.
Clearly, he really didn't care about Ms. Hill at all.
Lila sighed, shook her head, and went back to her book.
At eleven o'clock, Lila heated up the food she'd brought from home in the microwave in Alexander's office.
After heating it up, she arranged everything neatly on the dining table in his office eating area.
After preparing everything, Lila looked up toward where Alexander was working and called out sweetly, "Boss, time to eat."
Hearing this, Alexander glanced over, then slowly put down his pen.
She raised an eyebrow.
She thought he'd be difficult and work a bit longer before eating, but surprisingly, he came right away when called. Pretty cooperative.
But what Lila didn't expect was that after Alexander stopped at the dining area and looked at the food she'd laid out, he called her name through gritted teeth, "Lila!"
She instantly went into alert mode, stammering, "What's wrong?"
He frowned. "You're using this stuff to brush me off?"
Lila looked at the dishes she'd made, not understanding. "Braised tofu, sandwiches, oatmeal porridge, Greek yogurt, tomato soup—it's pretty good, isn't it? How is this brushing you off? I made everything light like Dr. Harris said."
Alexander sneered coldly, "Light is right!"
She pressed her lips together slightly.
Okay, maybe it was too light.
But it was already made.
Lila looked at him with a smile, gazing at him with obedient eyes. "Boss, don't be mad yet. The food might look so-so, but it actually tastes pretty good. It just doesn't have much meat, that's all. Why don't you try it first?"
Alexander glanced at her and sat down.
She breathed a sigh of relief.
As long as he sat down, that was good. The food actually wasn't bad—it just didn't have much meat and didn't look that great.
After Alexander sat down, he picked up his utensils, stared at the dishes for a moment, then reluctantly picked up a piece of tofu and put it in his mouth with a resistant expression.
However, when his tongue tasted the tofu, his furrowed brows relaxed.
Lila noticed the subtle change in his expression and finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Hehe, another successful day!
This time she was smart enough not to ask him how it was. She quietly sat down and started eating too.
That's right, she'd made enough for two!
However, when Alexander saw her sit down naturally, he frowned. "Why are you sitting down?"
"I'm eating too."
"Who said you could sit and eat with me?"
Lila felt very helpless.
Her hand, which had just picked up her utensils, suddenly froze after hearing this. She looked at him with innocent eyes and asked for permission, "Should I go eat in the cafeteria then?"
