Chapter 91: She's Pregnant

Diana stepped out for a stroll, mask on, but couldn't find a 24-hour pharmacy to snag a pregnancy test.

Maybe it's 'cause she's been pulling night shifts since she started her job, Diana's periods have been all over the place for the past two years.

Lately, she's been so swamped she didn't even think about it. It's been less than a month since that hot spring resort fling. As a doc, she knows puking from pregnancy usually doesn't hit this early, but hey, there are always exceptions.

Diana's head was spinning, feeling totally lost and helpless.

She grabbed her phone and dialed Henry. After a few rings, he picked up. His voice was soft and raspy, with a hint of a smile, "Why are you calling me at this hour?"

Diana was usually super low-key and almost never hit him up first.

"Are you still busy?"

Her throat felt like sandpaper.

"Anniversary celebrations come with a ton of little things, it's kinda annoying."

Henry hadn't had a decent night's sleep in days.

Diana was all over the place, almost couldn't get the words out. She didn't know how to bring it up and was worried she was just being paranoid.

"Diana?" She was quiet for a few seconds, and Henry called her softly, "What's up?"

"Nothing. Don't work too hard and get some rest after."

Henry agreed.

After hanging up, Diana lay in bed, staring at the ceiling for what felt like forever. Then she heard the door open, footsteps getting closer, and when the master bedroom door creaked open, she opened her eyes.

The night was dim, moonlight sneaking through the branches into the room. Henry's sharp features looked softer.

"Did I wake you?" He took off his coat, loosened his tie, walked to the bed, and kissed her, "I'm gonna take a shower."

Soon, Henry lay down and gently wrapped his arms around her from behind.

"Why'd you come back all of a sudden?" Diana asked softly.

"Because you missed me."

"I didn't."

"Calling me out of the blue, isn't that missing me?"

Henry added, "I'm beat, sleep with me for a bit."

Diana thought she'd be more anxious with Henry back, but surprisingly, nestled in his arms, she drifted off to sleep.

The next day, Diana was woken up by a racket. When she left the bedroom, she saw the kitchen filled with smoke.

Bethany ran out, wearing an apron and holding a spatula. Seeing Diana, she waved enthusiastically, "Ms. Windsor, good afternoon."

"Are you blowing up the kitchen?" Diana looked puzzled.

"I'm cooking!"

"What did I ever do to you? Trying to blow up my kitchen?"

"I..."

At that moment, the door opened, and Henry walked in holding Simon, carrying a plastic bag with a bottle of seasoning inside.

"Bethany, didn't I tell you to stay out of the kitchen? What are you doing?" Henry's face was dark.

"I wanted to show off my cooking skills." Bethany looked innocent.

Diana had slept too deeply, and Henry didn't want to wake her up. He wanted to cook a meal for her but was interrupted by Bethany.

Henry's face was stormy. If looks could kill, Bethany would be in pieces.

"Henry, don't be mad." Bethany smiled sheepishly, "How about I do a backflip for you?"

Diana laughed. She entered the kitchen and found that neither the range hood nor the windows were open, which was why the room was filled with smoke.

"I really didn't mean to." Bethany scratched her head awkwardly, "I wanted to surprise Henry with a dish while he was out grabbing stuff."

Henry snorted, "You only gave me a heart attack."

He walked over to Diana, "You go wash up, I'll handle this mess."

Diana raised an eyebrow, "You sure you can do it?"

Henry shot back, "Don't trust me?"

Diana smirked. Since they started living together, she had been doing all the housework. She really doubted Henry had any skills in that department.

"Forgot what I did before taking over the company?" Henry quickly tossed the plate of charcoal Bethany had made into the trash.

Diana then remembered Henry had been in the military, so he probably knew his way around basic chores.

Henry did manage to whip up a table of food. The dishes looked decent, but the taste? Well, that was another story.

"Henry, you better stay out of the kitchen next time. Your cooking is deadly." Bethany couldn't help but complain.

Diana chuckled.

Henry glanced at Diana, "Is it that bad?"

"No, it's pretty good." Diana smiled. It wasn't amazing, but it wasn't inedible either.

Bethany sighed, "You can't lie."

"Simon, what do you think of Dad's cooking?" Bethany asked Simon.

Simon, eating with his head down, said, "The spaghetti is okay."

Bethany laughed, "I made the spaghetti!"

Henry's face darkened.

There was laughter at the dining table, but Diana was somewhat absent-minded. She didn't expect Henry to cook, which was surprising. Even while washing dishes, she was in a daze.

"What are you thinking about?" Henry saw her spacing out.

"I didn't expect you to cook." Diana lowered her head and continued washing the dishes.

"When we get married, I can't let you do everything." Henry hugged her and kissed her cheek lightly.

"There are still people outside."

Diana didn't want to be caught by Bethany again.

"Bethany took Simon out to play, no one's here."

Henry hugged her, bent down, and kissed her. The water in the sink kept flowing, drowning out Diana's soft moans, seductive and ambiguous.

After the kiss, Henry lightly pecked her lips, "How's the Windsor family stuff going?"

"I've handed it over to a lawyer, it should be fine."

"If you need help, remember to ask me."

"I know."

"I'm glad you called me last night." Henry chuckled.

"Why?" Diana was surprised, "Didn't it disturb your work?"

"It means you're starting to see me as family."

Diana was stunned.

Since Henry left Velvet City, she had never contacted him first, which always bothered him, making him feel she was quite heartless.

So when he got her call last night, even though he hadn't finished his work, he came back immediately.

Henry and Bethany left together, while Simon stayed.

Before leaving, Henry kissed Diana on the cheek.

"I'll be back tonight."

Bethany stood awkwardly on the side, complaining as they went downstairs, "Henry, you and Diana are too sweet."

"Really?" Henry raised an eyebrow.

After confirming they had left, Diana coaxed Simon to take a nap, then went to a nearby pharmacy, mask on, and bought two pregnancy tests.

All the way, she was nervous until she saw one deep and one faint line on the test, realizing she was done for.

It was almost certain: she was really pregnant!

Diana gently placed her hand on her lower abdomen. There was really a child of hers and Henry's growing inside.
