Chapter 90: Morning Sickness?

After returning from Golden Horizon Resort, Henry was busy with work, so Diana rarely saw him. Simon was taken away by Juniper, giving Diana plenty of freedom and time to think about their relationship.

During this period, Felix, the head of the hospital where she used to work, somehow found out where she lived and came to visit with gifts.

"The issue with the photos was a misunderstanding. We didn't investigate thoroughly and suspended you; it was our mistake," Felix said sincerely.

He continued, "If you're willing, you can come back to work anytime."

Diana smiled faintly, "I've decided to go to Evergreen City for further studies, so I won't be coming back for now."

"No problem. When you finish your studies and want to return, our hospital doors will always be open for you," He immediately assured.

She just smiled, amazed at how quickly Velvet City people's attitude had changed.

Later on, she also went to a law firm to deal with the Windsor family's property division, which would take at least ten days to resolve.

She couldn't stay there forever, so she entrusted this entirely on her lawyer.

"This is what we retrieved from the Windsor family; your mother's jewelry," the lawyer handed her a delicate wooden box. "Please keep it safe."

"Thank you." Diana smiled lightly.

She opened it and saw that they weren't common luxury items, but uniquely-designed pieces. Especially so for a sapphire necklace surrounded by small diamonds, displaying perfect cutting craftsmanship. Even after over twenty years, it still shone brilliantly in the light.

"The designs are very unique. Any one of these pieces is probably unique, so Celeste didn't dare to wear them out," the lawyer said with a smile.

Diana nodded in agreement.

"We originally wanted these appraised. The value could significantly impact Celeste's sentencing," the lawyer continued, "A professional said they are priceless."

Diana was stunned. When Owen and Esme passed away, she was too young to understand the family's wealth. She only remembered that they were well-off, but had no concept of the exact amount.

"Based on the information we have, Nathan and Celeste's assets amount to several million dollars. If all goes well, you could be awarded 80% of it," the lawyer said.

In other words, Diana would soon become wealthy.

"Thank you for handling this," She said earnestly. "Let's keep in touch."

"You're welcome. Our firm will do our best," he said.

As she left the law firm with the wooden box, she unexpectedly saw a familiar face. He was leaning against a car, clearly having waited for a long time.

As she walked past him, Oliver called out to her, "Diana."

His voice was hoarse and full of affection. If it were in the past, she would've been happy hearing this. But now, it only made her feel disgusted.

"Mr. Smith, we have no relationship anymore. Please don't use that tone calling; it could cause misunderstandings," She said coldly.

"Are you afraid Henry will misunderstand?" Oliver's tone was jealous.

She sneered, "Does that have anything to do with you? What right do you have to ask me that?"

He smiled bitterly. Yes, he had no right.

"I heard you're going to Evergreen City with Henry?" He asked.

"You are quite informed." She sneered.

"Clara and I are also going to Evergreen City," Oliver said.

Diana would be with Henry there, and Oliver would definitely run into them again.

She smiled lightly. "I understand. When we meet again, let's just pretend we're strangers. Don't worry; even if I'm with Henry, I won't interfere with your relationship with Clara. After all, you might have to call me 'Aunt' one day."

"As an elder, there's no need to be petty with the younger generation."

Oliver's face turned instantly pale. He thought, 'Aunt? Diana, you're really dreaming.'

'You should dream more. Maybe one day, your dream might come true.'

After saying that, Diana walked away gracefully, making Oliver so angry that he kicked the car several times.

He couldn't stay calm after hearing that Diana was going to Evergreen City with Henry. He wanted to persuade her to give up, but she left him speechless.

In another car not far away, Clara was watching with malice-filled eyes. Oliver still couldn't forget Diana!

Diana had dinner with Elodie that evening.

"Diana, what's wrong with you lately? You don't look well." Elodie observed.

"Do I?" Diana hadn't noticed.

"Is Mr. Spencer keeping you up all night? You haven't seen each other for a while, and he's wearing you out," Elodie continued.

"He's been very busy lately. We haven't had sex in a long time," Diana replied.

To be precise, since he returned to Velvet City, they had only been intimate a few times.

"So you're lonely at night, unable to sleep?" Elodie pressed.

Diana was helpless. How was Elodie always thinking such nonsense?

Elodie laughed. "Just kidding. I know you're dealing with the Windsor family's matters. It's tough, but you need to take care of yourself. I'm going back to school tomorrow and can't accompany you to Evergreen City. I'll welcome you when you get there."

"I'll see you off tomorrow," Diana said.

"No. I'm leaving around 6 AM. If you see me off, you'll have to get up at 5. I'll be distressed if you do that. Besides, we'll see each other soon in Evergreen City. It doesn't matter," Elodie said.

She accompanied Diana back to Serenity Manor, chatting together a long time.

She kept reminding Diana to take care of herself and lamented about Caleb's bad timing. It was late at night when she finally left.

Diana changed her clothes and showered. Recently, she had been feeling particularly tired.

Studying for the PhD exams and dealing with the Windsor family's affairs were indeed enough to exhaust her. Diana dried her hair with a towel, looking at her reflection in the mirror. She did seem a bit thinner.

She took a bottle of milk from the fridge and opened the cap. When she smelled the milk, she suddenly felt nauseous.

She put down the milk and, unable to run to the bathroom, bent over a trash can and retched. It took a while for the nausea to subside, her face pale. Suppressing her discomfort, Diana lay down to rest.

In the middle of the night, she felt sick again and ran to the bathroom to retch.

She originally thought it might just be due to eating something bad outside earlier or lack of rest recently, causing her stomach discomfort.

But now, another thought crossed her mind. Could this be morning sickness?

Henry was usually very careful and always took precautions.

The only time he didn't was at the hot spring resort. Over there, he had deliberately seduced her, and she couldn't resist. At that time, he didn't take any protection.

Diana had thought about taking a contraceptive afterward. However, she caught a cold and had a fever, feeling dizzy and forgetting about it.

Henry, busy taking care of her back then, seemed to have forgotten too.

Her breath froze. It couldn't be that coincidental, could it? It was only one time!
