Chapter 54 54
"I will look into it and let you know.” Nathan said to the doctor, after the two hospitals were suggested to him.
"These two hospitals, I am sure of them. You will have a great result. When you decide on which hospital to take him, I will help arrange everything for you." The doctor assured him.
Nathan nodded in understanding. “Thank you, doctor.” He said before leaving.
After the talk with the doctor. Nathan decided to call his friend, Ryan. He knows the doctor knows what he said. He has helped him narrow the hospital down to the two best in the country. Now, Ryan can help him decide between the two. Since he knows more about different surgeon facilities.
Ryan's phone couldn't be reached. Nathan allowed it for the time and tried later on. But he still couldn't get a hold of Ryan.
He then decided to try Ryan's assistant phone. He was able to get through.
"Mr Ronald is already away for his business trip in Europe. He somehow damaged his phone before he left. That is why he cannot be reached." Ryan's assistant reported. "Is it something I can help you with, Mr Leo?"
Nathan told him about the issue at hand and what he wanted from Ryan. Since he is Ryan's assistant, he might have some ideas as well.
"That is easy, Mr Leo. The Emberwood facility is so far the best. Not that the facility in Holyrood is any bad. But they have been in business for a while. It seems the doctors there are becoming too old to give the best result. Because they are currently facing a lawsuit. One of their patients sued them. He was operated on but they forgot a surgical tool inside of him. He had to be operated on again."
"So I will highly recommend Emberwood. It is rising now more and there are young doctors there. Some of our clients claim insurance policies there. So far, three of them have had heart surgery there. It was successful." The assistant advised.
"Ok then. Thank you for your help. Emberwood it is then." Nathan said before ending the call.
Emberwood
"Happy birthday, Grandma." Liam ran to his grandmother and gave her a hug before handing her a paper. He drew a picture of him and his grandmother in a car.
I love my grandma
"Awwwn... Thank you honey." Samantha cried. "I love you too." She said, reaching out to Liam for a hug. She kissed his cheeks multiple times which made Liam giggle.
"Good morning, Mom and Dad. Happy birthday Mom." Brooke's voice was heard before they saw her. Soon, she walked to the dining area with a cake in her hand. She settled the cake on the table and greeted both her parents with a peck on the cheek.
"Thank you, Bee." Samantha said.
Brooke then reached for an envelope from the back pocket of her jeans.
"I know your anniversary is in a week. I thought mom's birthday would be the best time to give you guys an early anniversary gift." Brooke said and gave the envelope to her parents.
"An early anniversary gift? That sounds fun." Jack teased.
Samantha went ahead to open the envelope. She gasped. "A cruise. A two week cruise!" She exclaimed with excitement. "This is wonderful." Realization hits Samantha and her excitement subsides. "But- but we can't. Liam needs me and your dad's job-"
Brooke felt bad at that moment. That was the reason why she planned this trip for her parents. Because of how busy she has been with medical school, her mother has been busy taking care of Liam. She put a complete stop to her own life and things she wanted to do. Just like this trip.
"You have nothing to worry about, mom. It is all taken care of." Brooke said, squeezing her mother's shoulders gently.
"I will be here to take care of Liam and so will the nannies. Besides, Liam is a big boy now." She added.
"Yes, grandma. I am not a baby anymore. I can also take care of myself." Liam chimed in with a smile.
"And I took my annual leave." Jack reported. "So you will be stuck with me for the next few weeks." He added.
"Really." Samantha asked, covering her mouth with her hands. "How come I didn't know that?" Realization hits her. "Wait.... That means you knew about the trip. Were you in on this?" She asked with a smile.
"I am." Jack said with a smile before kissing his wife's hand.
"You both deserve this. I hope you have a great time out there." Brooke said.
"Thank you, Bee. I love you." Samantha said as she gave Brooke a side hug.
"Love you too." Brooke answered. She finally settled on the chair and then got Liam settled as well. "Sweetie, we have to hurry now. I am taking you to school today."
Liam gasped in shock. "Really!"
"Yes. In fact, I will be the one taking you to school while grandma is gone. I will be working night shifts for now." Brooke announced.
"Yay!" Liam celebrated. "I am going to introduce you to my friends, mommy." He said excitedly. He had his breakfast real quick so that they could get going.
After the breakfast, Brooke left with Liam for school. The home driver was the one who drove them to the school.
With the nature of Brooke's work, she is busy most times. There are a lot of emergency cases that she has to be called in sometimes. That left little time for her to spend with her son. These two weeks are a great opportunity for her to have that bonding time with her son while she takes him to school.
Children grow so fast. Before she knows it, he will grow up.
A few moments later, they arrived at the school.
"Have a good day at school, sweetie. Be good and stay out of trouble." Brooke gave Liam some last minute advice.
Liam smiled and nodded. "Ok, mommy."
"And remember , I love you." Brooke said before hugging him.
"I love you too, mommy." Liam said, returning the hug.
Brooke stood straight after the hug.
"Liam. Is this your mom?" A girl walking by asked.
Liam nodded happily with a huge grin. "Yes. She brought me to school today."
"She is so pretty." The little girl complimented. She pointed at a direction and added. "That is my mommy and daddy. They drop me at school before going to work."
"Liam, where is your grandma? Who is this?" Another boy around the same age as Liam asked. "My Grandma is traveling soon. My mommy brought me to school today." Liam announced.
"Cool. My daddy always brings me to school." The boy said.
Two more kids passed by and asked the same question and Liam happily introduced his mother to them. They also responded by saying their dad brings them to school everyday.
After they were gone, Brooke noticed how Liam's smile had faded. He stayed back until the rest of his classmates had gone in. He then turned to his mother with a sad face and asked.
"Mommy, why don't I have a daddy, who would bring me to school like my friends?"
