Chapter 32 Take Her to the Company
Sophia glanced sideways and saw Preston covering his face with his hand, peeking at them through his fingers. His face was lit up with excitement.
When he noticed them looking, Preston grinned and said, "Didn't see a thing. You two keep doing what you're doing."
He got up from the couch, trying to act casual, and loudly announced, "I'm getting old; need to stretch my legs. I'm gonna take a walk in the garden."
Sophia gave Preston a thumbs-up behind his back. Preston was the best!
"Now that Grandpa's out of the picture, no one's watching," Sophia said, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
She looked up at Benjamin, like a kid who couldn't get candy, hopeful and a little pitiful.
Benjamin's Adam's apple bobbed slightly, then he leaned down and planted a gentle kiss on her forehead.
As his lips touched her forehead, Benjamin felt a surge of electricity spread through his body, leaving him tingling all over.
He looked at the spot he had just kissed, his lips pressed tightly together, his heartbeat erratic.
Trying to stay composed, he said, "Alright, let's go."
Sophia looked at Benjamin's composed face, thinking he felt nothing.
It wasn't until she saw him hurriedly walking away that she realized Benjamin was just a bit shy.
Sophia couldn't help but cover her mouth and giggle. "Honey, where are we going?"
Benjamin glanced at her, deciding not to argue with her childlike behavior.
He opened the passenger door and gestured for Sophia to get in. "To the office. Aren't you curious to see it?"
Sophia's eyes lit up. "Really? I can go to the office?"
"Yes." Benjamin looked down, a barely noticeable smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
Once in the car, Benjamin said to Sophia, "Word of our marriage has already spread. Didn't you say you were bored at home? This is a good chance to get out and about."
Although marriage wasn't a huge deal for Benjamin, since he had made the choice, there was no need to hide it.
Hearing this, Sophia felt a flutter of excitement in her heart.
Did he want to introduce her to his colleagues, to let everyone know her identity?
Sophia's cheeks flushed, and she couldn't help but feel a bit more expectant.
Halfway there, Sophia reminded, "Honey, should I bring a gift to the office?"
Benjamin looked puzzled. "What gift?"
Sophia thought for a moment and then decided, "How about buying some candy?"
Benjamin saw Sophia's satisfied little expression and knew she just wanted the candy for herself.
He pulled over to the side of the road and softly instructed, "Wait here. I'll be right back."
Sophia obediently nodded and watched as Benjamin strode towards a nearby mall.
Soon, he returned, carrying several delicate boxes that didn't quite match his usual demeanor.
Sophia asked curiously, "Weren't you getting candy? What are these?"
Benjamin frowned and pulled out a box of brown chocolates. "For you."
He had bought two packs of expensive candy and left the rest to his assistant.
With over a thousand employees at the White Group, handing out candy to each one would leave him with no time to work.
Sophia's eyes sparkled as she looked at the heart-shaped box of chocolates Benjamin handed her. "Chocolate, my favorite!"
She leaned over and gave Benjamin a big kiss on the cheek. "You're the best! I love you so much!"
Benjamin's back stiffened, and a blush crept up his ears hidden under his short hair.
He glanced at Sophia with a blank expression. "It's just a box of candy. Is it worth getting this excited?"
Sophia cradled the box of chocolates, her eyes filled with joy. "Because it's from you."
Benjamin pressed his lips together, and a ripple spread through his usually calm heart.
At The White Group, the usually diligent employees were acting out of character today.
In every department, people huddled together, whispering excitedly, their faces full of disbelief.
"Did you hear? Mr. Whitewas seen with a woman during yesterday's meeting!"
"I heard! It's all over the company chat! Everyone's talking about it. The tech department said they heard a woman call our boss 'honey' during the meeting last night!"
This caused another uproar.
Many people covered their mouths and squealed in excitement.
Some didn't believe it at all, thinking it was just a rumor.
What kind of person was Benjamin?
He appeared pale and frail on the outside but was actually cold and indifferent, with a commanding presence.
Despite his high status, he was never interested in women.
There were even rumors that Benjamin had a sexual dysfunction.
Some said Benjamin liked men.
A man who wouldn't be moved even if a woman stood naked in front of him—how could he possibly have a woman by his side?
As everyone speculated about the truth, the company chat exploded again.
Someone had just posted that Benjamin had arrived at the office, with a woman by his side!
This was earth-shattering news!
It instantly ignited everyone's gossiping hearts.
They all wanted to see for themselves who the woman who had captured Benjamin's heart was.
As soon as they stepped out of their departments, they saw the hallway packed with people.
It was more crowded than the cafeteria at lunchtime.
Downstairs, Benjamin walked in, carrying candy in one hand and holding Sophia's wrist with the other, under the watchful eyes of many.
Benjamin glanced around, his face darkening as he saw the crowd at the entrance. "What are you all doing here? Don't you have work?"
"Everyone's just curious. Mr. White, we heard you have a girlfriend. Is it true?" A man in his twenties, wearing a plaid shirt, boldly asked from the front row.
As he spoke, his eyes kept darting to the girl beside Benjamin.
One look, and he was stunned.
Everyone's eyes showed a hint of amazement.
The girl was petite, with fair skin, her eyebrows slightly curved, her eyes shimmering.
She was both pure and charming, a perfect combination of two contrasting qualities.
Standing next to Benjamin, they looked like a perfect match.
What shocked everyone the most was that the girl was holding Benjamin's hand.
Being so close to Benjamin, she didn't show a trace of fear or anxiety.
