Chapter 87: CHAPTER 87

Andrew’s POV

He begins to let out furious breaths, a definite proof that I had infuriated him. I watch with renewed interest and my very gaze only makes him angrier.

“I still don’t want to hurt you, Andrew,” he says, trying to calm himself.

“You mean you can’t,” I replied confidently. “Earlier, you bragged about not letting off the people who messed with you. But you know what, I am the same. Also, all those people you have managed to destroy are not me. I am of a different breed and if you are smart enough, you would understand that.”

Johnny takes a deep breath.

“I will say this only once,” he begins to say. “You have forty-eight hours to get things back in order. I don’t care what strings you pull but Aurora must be reassigned to me.”

“You can’t do a single thing to me, Johnny. Everyone can bluff, only a few people can actually carry out their threats,” I say calmly.

“What makes you think I’m not one of those who carry out their threats?” he asks threateningly.

“It’s because you are Johnny,” I tell him. “You have managed to survive so far by choosing your enemies wisely. Choosing me for an enemy is every man’s fear, more so for a man like you.”

“A man like me?” he asks.

“A man with a lot of weaknesses,” I reply. “You should focus on people that can’t hurt you just like you’ve been doing for a long time. You should watch your actions when it comes to people like me, people who are powerful enough to use your weaknesses against you.”

I can see Johnny wavering even though he tries hard not to show it.

“Oh really? I don’t think you have what it takes to…” he was saying when I cut in.

“You have assaulted a lot of women, haven’t you?” I ask him carefully. “Of course, it is publicly known. Your opponents in the past must have tried to use it against you but they must have failed woefully. Why is that?”

Johnny doesn’t answer my question.

I continue talking, “It’s because you are wealthy. You have the law on your side. The police will nitpick about evidence and end up throwing whoever reported you in jail on the basis of false accusation and smearing your reputation. They, the victims, ended up the assailants. They got in that position because they were weak and you were powerful. However, I am different from them. I am far from being weak.”

“So you intend to play the apostle of justice? You will act like you are the one without sin, huh,” Johnny says, his voice lower than before.

“No, I’m not a bit interested in justice. If I was, I would have attacked you first. I wouldn’t have turned the other way for such a long time,” I explained calmly. “However, the moment you attack me, you become my enemy and if there’s one thing I’m good at doing, it is destroying my enemies. I crush them into pieces so they can never recover.”

By now, Johnny’s face has begun to turn pale. He nervously picks his fingernails and averts my gaze. I can tell he is about to make a crucial decision.

He raises his head and folds his hands behind him and slightly bends his head.

“I am sorry, Andrew,” he apologizes. “I… I was stupid for thinking of making you an enemy because of some bitch. I will…”

“She isn’t some bitch,” I correct his impression.

“Ah, right,” he nods in acceptance. “I’m sorry about that too. It was all done in the heat of the moment.”

I began to laugh, surprised as to how he had turned the opposite way in a matter of minutes. I guess he has realized how stupid his threat actually was.

“I will accept your apology,” I tell him calmly. “However, you won’t do it again. I will consider this as a mistake, the next time I won’t think it’s a mistake.”

“Thank you,” Johnny nods and turns to leave. I can tell he is feeling so humiliated right now. Anyone would feel the same way.

“By the way…” I call for his attention. “How did you find out that Aurora was assigned to you at first?”

He turns back and hesitates for a moment.

“Erm… well… I was notified by… err…” he stammers.

“Tell me the truth,” I urged him.

“Callum,” he ends up answering. “He visited my gym earlier and told me even though I didn’t ask. Now that I think about it, his visit was really strange. It was his first time visiting me solely to gossip.”

“I’m sure he wanted both of us to fight. He will be pleased if that happens,” I say with my fists clenched. I will have to deal with Callum’s backbiting before it gets out of hand.

“I will leave now, brother. Stay safe, okay?” Johnny says as he steps out. I wonder why he called me ‘brother’. Both of us are certainly not that close. I also have no plans to be close with him in the future. For people like Johnny, I can neither push them away or pull them closer.

A few minutes after Johnny left, I stood up too, determined to see Callum. As I do not know where he is currently, I text him that we need to meet. He doesn’t reply early enough and impatiently, I decide to check the places he usually was around. His family’s mansion was the second place I visited.

A maid escorts me into the main building and I look around several times, amazed by the architecture and quality of artworks all over the place. The family’s art collection seems enough to open a gallery.

I am led to the household’s butler who is a tall man that appears to be in his late forties or early fifties.

“Mr. Andrew Rousseau, right?” the butler asks, extending his hand.

I do not shake him.

“Where is Callum?” I ask sternly.
