Chapter 155 CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY-FIVE: THE FATHER’S REDEMPTION TALE.
AIDEN
The room felt strange when my eye popped open.
I turned to see that Zara was not in bed with me. I groaned; my hand still held up with the sling, and a pain I was getting used to shot through my arm. I got out of bed and went to look for Zara.
She was supposed to be right beside me.
I stepped into the living room, and it looked like a toy store had thrown up all over it. I stopped at the entrance and dragged my eyes over the toys and clothes scattered across the floor.
"Were we transported? Into some kind of mystical universe?” I joked.
“Your father…” She looked up at me with tears streaming down her face. I rushed towards her and tried to sit beside her on the floor, but it was difficult.
“Zara?” I pulled her up, wincing in pain from the sudden force surging through my hand. “Why are you crying? "What happened?” I asked.
The questions seemed to trigger her because she threw her head back and began to wail even more. I held her in my chest and rocked her back and forth, trying to calm her down faster.
Her tears finally stopped, and she looked up at me with her bottom lip sticking out and tears stinging her face. Her nostrils were flaring, but surprisingly, in a cute way. I helped her sit and pulled out a tissue, wiping down her face.
“Are you okay?” I asked, and she nodded gently. “Then why are you…”
“Look at all of this." She snatched the tissue from me and wiped her nose as she sniffled. "It's just so cute my heart couldn't handle it."
I stared at her. This was the same woman who commanded a room like it meant nothing, yet a few pieces of clothes and toys sent her crying.
“What?”
“Your father brought them for the baby." She pressed her hand over her belly, still pouting. “And while I tried to go through it, I guess I couldn't stop the pregnancy hormones," she muttered, throwing her face to the side so I couldn't see it.
A stifled laughter escaped my lips. “I ruffled the side of her hair gently and pulled her closer.
“How cute."
She showed me the clothes and the toys he brought. The wooden blocks I had as a child. To me, those weren't toys; they felt like a legacy I had to keep up to.
“I was always raised as an heir," I murmured, my fingers tracing the edge of one of the blocks. I stared down at it.
It was surprising how I didn't have any resentment in my heart anymore; staring at the blocks didn't make me want to toss them at the wall in anger.
“We are going to raise children," she said, grabbing my hand over the block. She moved before I could get used to it and pulled the document off the table.
"Here." She opened it and dropped it into my lap. I read through it, every sentence and page a louder shock than the last.
“My father did this?” I asked, and she nodded eagerly.
I stared at the page in front of me. I always had to earn the shares I have now. He gave them to me only after I passed all his silly tests. I didn't know how I was supposed to feel about this.
“Are you not happy?” she asked, silently pulling away from me. I saw the horror on her face. I grabbed her waist and pulled her back before she began to build scenarios that didn't exist in her mind.
“What?”
“That your father gave this to me." I raised my eyebrow, and she continued. “You dont have to worry; trust me… as soon as the children are of age, I would personally…”
I grabbed the back of her neck and placed a kiss on it. She blinked and tried to pull away, but my grip tightened.
“Aiden… what are you doing?”
“Reassuring you," I said. I looked between both eyes. I didn't want her to have such thoughts about me. Ever.
“What?”
“I am used to eating my shares, but I want to give everything to you on a platter. So it doesn't matter whose name ends up on the share transfer documents.”
“Aren't you afraid that I would take what belongs to the knight heir and disappear?” she asked, blinking rudely.
I moved my hand to her stomach; my touch was soft at first, as if I were afraid to touch. She pressed my hand to her stomach and stared back at me with rapid blinking.
“This is not the Knight heir. "I shook my head. “This is our child."
She smiled as if she had been testing me, and I passed. She took the document and gently ran her finger across it before closing it up.
"Don't worry; I won't steal the Knight group away. I will make sure our children have it in the future."
“You can steal it if you want to. " I brushed my nose against hers. “I will rather let you have it and be a stay-at-home dad for our kids."
“You will?” she asked, pulling my face away with a teasing smile on her face. I nodded eagerly, and she laughed. “Then I might need to work extra hard at everything.

Rylan’s case was basically a shut-in. The evidence was clear, and Father's influence was nothing to be trifled with.
He was reaching out to all of his old acquaintances, but nothing was sticking. It was obvious how deep in the mess he was.
Anyone who tried to help him would end up worse than he was. I just don't understand how he ended up like this.
“I will cook dinner," Zara announced.
We had just finished putting away all of my father’s gifts. He had gotten too much, and I knew it was only the start. He was going to get a lot more.
I ran after Zara and caught her before she could turn on the stove. “What are you doing?” I asked, my eyes darting around.
"Making dinner," she said, like it was nothing.
“But you don't cook..."
"Doesn't mean I can't." Her lisp parted slightly, and she tilted her head. "Wait, are you afraid that I would poison you?”
“Of course not." My voice was louder than normal. “That is not my worry," I murmured.
“Then tell me, what is it?”
“We can get a chef in here or maybe order in…”
“You don't trust me," she laughed. I shook my head. She tapped my shoulders and pulled me to the stool in the corner. “Sit here while I wow you."
I pulled her into a hug and buried my head in her shoulders. “Zara?” I murmured.
She patted my back as I pulled away slightly. “I am glad you are okay."
“Of course I am." She put her hand over her stomach and knelt, pressing my ear to it.
“Baby, your daddy is here."
“What are you doing?” she said in between laughs.
“Talking to the baby," I looked up at her. Her brows were already creeping into her hairline. “You know, like prenatal education."
“Oh, really?”
“I want the baby to know my voice so the moment she is here, she will cling to me."
“She?”
"Yes," I nodded slowly, lifting myself. “A baby girl just as fierce and wonderful as her mother."
