Chapter 301: Take Off This Dress

Lily glanced at the dress stained with red wine.

Her smile deepened, "Sophie, your tricks are as lousy as ever."

Sophie knew she couldn't get the dress, so she resorted to dirty tricks to ruin it and frame her.

"Lily, you did this on purpose, trying to ruin the dress so David can't deliver it to Ms. West, right?"

"It's clearly because you knew you couldn't keep the dress, so you'd rather destroy it, that's why you..." Before Lily could finish, someone splashed red wine at her.

Lily wiped her face and saw James holding a glass. He actually dared to splash her.

James pulled Sophie to his side, "Lily, stop turning things around. You couldn't get the dress, so you deliberately ruined it."

Lily looked over coldly, "Why would I ruin a dress that doesn't belong to Sophie?"

James snorted, "You're just jealous that Sophie can wear this dress but you can't. David, are you really going to let Lily act so arrogantly?"

David frowned at Lily, "This is a birthday gift I'm giving to Ms. West. You ruined the dress, how am I supposed to explain this?"

Lily's eyes were mocking. Was he trying to make her take responsibility again?

Before she could speak, Austin stood up, "David, I saw it clearly just now. Sophie deliberately poured the red wine on the dress. It had nothing to do with Lily. She didn't even move."

James got defensive, "That's only because what Lily said scared Sophie, which made her hand shake and lose grip of the glass."

''You're lying about Lily on purpose.''

Austin was furious. He turned to look at David, "David, if James hadn't taken it upon himself to let Sophie wear this dress out today, none of this would have happened. The people you should blame are James and Sophie!"

David frowned, "Can you all just calm down? Do you have to cause trouble?"

James quickly said, "David, anyway, the dress got ruined because of Lily. It has nothing to do with Sophie."

David looked directly at Lily, "There's no time to prepare another gift now. The West family already knows what gift I prepared. You'll go apologize to the West family in person that day."

Sophie's eyes lit up when she heard this, "David, let me come too that day. After all, I'm partly responsible for this."

As long as she could attend the West family's birthday party, she'd definitely meet lots of wealthy people and could badmouth Lily, too.

Lily picked up a towel and wiped her face, "No need to go through all that trouble."

David got a bit angry, "Say that again?"

"She said no need to go through all that trouble."

The private room door was pushed open. Emily stood at the doorway, looking at everyone inside.

Emily's gaze fell on Lily. Seeing her clothes stained with red wine, her expression changed slightly,and  then she slowly walked over.

After Emily appeared, David's face instantly changed.

David stood up and rushed over, looking at Emily nervously, "How did you get here?"

"Can't I come? I heard it was your family dinner." Emily smiled, then her gaze fell on Sophie, "This dress looks a bit familiar."

David felt today was really unlucky.

He looked back at Sophie, his eyes full of anger. If it weren't for these two idiots, today wouldn't be such a disaster.

David didn't expect Emily to show up here. How much had she heard?

David spoke, "Sorry, I'll explain about the dress to you later."

"Shouldn't the person wearing the dress be the one to explain?"

Emily looked at Sophie lightly, "Miss, the dress size is a bit small for you. Don't you feel uncomfortable wearing it?"

Sophie's expression became unnatural. Of course, she knew the dress was a bit too small, so she'd been holding her breath the whole time and barely dared to eat anything.

But who was this woman to talk like that?

James spoke first, being rude to Emily, "Who are you? This dress was specially custom-made for Sophie. It fits her perfectly."

"James, shut up!" David's forehead broke out in cold sweat. He looked at Emily, "Which private room are you eating in? Let me go with you first, then I'll explain everything clearly."

Emily avoided David's hand, "Seems like you have quite a close relationship with this Miss."

"You've got it wrong. Sophie is just my sister."

"But you only have one sister, and I think her name is Lily, not Sophie?"

Emily's tone remained calm throughout.

Lily saw Emily's expression, and her worried heart settled down. It seemed Emily wasn't as weak as she appeared.

The next second, Emily looked at her and handed over a tissue.

Lily took the tissue. "Thank you."

"I should be the one saying that." Emily had heard everything outside - all of the Roberts family's conversation and what had happened.

David softened his tone and said to Emily, "I'll get you a replacement birthday gift."

He couldn't afford to offend the West family right now.

"No need, I quite like this dress." Emily slowly walked toward Sophie. Her steps were slow, but you could still tell her legs weren't very mobile.

Sophie suddenly thought of something, "David, is she - is she Ms. West?"

After all, David's attitude was so good, and he mentioned a birthday gift, plus this woman's legs weren't very mobile.

David quickly nodded, "That's right, she is Ms. West."

Sophie's expression instantly changed. She spoke awkwardly, "Ms. West, I..."

"Don't call everyone so sweetly. It's too fake."

Emily glanced at the dress on Sophie, "Now take off my birthday gift."

Sophie's expression froze instantly, "I-I didn't mean to."

"Whether you meant to or not, wearing someone else's dress to show off - isn't that a bit rude?" Emily's words were like a slap to Sophie's face.

Sophie felt extremely humiliated. A dark look flashed in her eyes - this cripple didn't deserve to wear such a beautiful dress.

She quickly walked toward James, saying pitifully, "James."

Emily grabbed Sophie, "I'm talking to you, why are you running - ah!"

Sophie forcefully shook off Emily's hand, and Emily lost her balance, her body tilting.

"Watch out!"

"Emily!"

Lily and David both rushed over at the same time.

But Lily reacted fastest, so she was the first to catch Emily.

She looked at Emily in her arms with concern, "Are you okay?"

Emily was stunned for a few seconds, then stood up steadily with a red face, "I'm fine."

David's hand was still in mid-air. He finally withdrew it awkwardly and turned to look at Sophie, "You..."

"How do you walk? Did you deliberately try to push her down?" Lily questioned Sophie first.

David looked at Lily in surprise. What was up with her, always stealing his lines?

Sophie hid behind James, looking very wronged, "James, I really didn't mean to. How was I supposed to know Ms. West would grab me?"

"Sophie, I know you're innocent. James will stand up for you."

James looked directly at Emily, "Ms. West, don't try to scam people. Our Sophie has always been kind-hearted and would never do such a thing. As for you, if your legs aren't working well, you shouldn't just go around..."

"Shut up!" David angrily raised his hand and slapped James across the face.

James shouted in shock, "David, you dare to hit me! For a disabled..." Lily grabbed the wine bottle and poured it straight into James's mouth.
