Truth needs telling

Truth needs telling
Lucien

I shall never understand why my sister didn't think I knew things that she tried to keep secret. I have a feeling that it was a boy or maybe even a girl in her life that she didn't want to tell mom and dad about. it wasn't my place to say anything to mom or dad. Not even our grandparents knew what was happening. So I took a deep breath to let her know that I knew. Her sobs would rip my heart out every time she sucked in a breath to sob again. Holding her close I felt that she needed this for the time.

"Raven, you need to make things right." I told her as I patted her back.

"Oh Luc I can't...I just can't." Raven sobbed as she lifted her tear stained face to me.

"No guy is worth all this Ray." I felt her stiffen at the fact that I knew the truth.

"How the hell?" She started but stopped when she looked at me. "You followed me?"

"Good lord Ray, no I didn't follow you. He showed up on day looking for you in the clearing by the castle. I asked who he was and he blushed as he ran away. You made that guy blush. What have you two been up to? Should I get a sword and fight for your honor?" I told her making her laugh a little, that turned into another sob.

"He never told me that he met you." Raven told me with a smile. "Maybe he didn't want to say that he ran off blushing."

"If he is the reason for all of this. I can say that it was a stupid move. Mom and Dad would never act like other families when there child wanted to date someone out side of speices, race or whatever it is. Might be time to just tell them what is going on." I knew she didn't like the idea, but mom would understand .

I looked at her waiting for the idea to sink in. It took much longer than it should have. When she looked up at me I sighed, those eyes hide so much. It seemed strange that she could act so big and bad but sob like a baby. I would always be here for her no matter what happened. It had been a struggle to decide between her and our parents. I wanted to say that it was easy to pick her, but it wasn't. She had been pushing me away as well of late. The frist time over at Grandma's castle. She had slammed the door in my face telling me to go away. It had hurt that she didn't think she could confide in me. I let her sit up as I pulled away from her. My shirt was wet from her tears, but it would dry.

"Luc I knew you aren't happy with me right now. As for mom and dad I can't go back and tell them. Believe me when I say that I have cut that cord for good. No way Mom will love me again." Raven sighed as she looked at her phone. "She turned it of."

"Raven she didn't turn it off, it is dead. You have to charge it. I asked her not to shut the phone off because if I came home I wanted to be able to talk to you. She agreed of course, but she is worried about both of us. The fact that Grandma called screaming at her didn't help anything. From what I saw mom hung up on her." I told her with a smile.

"Mom never liked it when Grandma put her noise in our family issues. Even though she is still family." Raven almost laughed at the thought.

"Yes but she isn't our mom. Mom doesn't like that she undermines her when she jumps in like that." I told her when I sat fully on the floor. "You have let this go on for way to long. Our family is small but we love each other. I never want to have to chose between you and them again. Please don't make me."

I could see that she wasn't happy about what I said, but I didn't think she would try to fix it either. So I sat waiting on her to decided on what she wanted to happen. I looked around the room seeing she had packed up most of the toys and books. My room has been cleaned out a year or more ago making it my own. Raven hadn't because she still liked it and we didn't stay here long enough to worry about it. If she wanted help I would help her paint. She sat looking at me with a frown tears drying on her face. Grandma knocked on the door a few moments later looking toward Raven and me. It was strange how much mom and her looked alike. That look on her face spoke volumes. She wasn't happy about what was happening with Raven and mom. When she walked in to sit on the bed she waited, not saying a word. Mom had done that to us many times over the years. I sat on the floor waiting for one of the two to break. It wasn't for me to break the silence. Raven looked at me then to Grandma. It would seem that Grandma would be the one to win this one. Raven didn't like to fight with grandma. I didn't really understand that at all. Finally Grandma broke before Raven did.

"Raven I have no idea what you did to your mother to make her this upset. She has never spoken to me like that before. Nor would she have ever thought it hang up on me. I know that she hit you, and I can't say I agree. I never hit her in her life. If you want to fill me in I am here to listen. I will also try not to take sides. I can't really promise that in the long run sadly, because she is my daughter." Grandma looked at Raven and waited for her to speak.

It took Raven a long time to finally open her mouth to speak. The words however didn't come out. She sat on the floor looking from Grandma to Lucien then sighed. I wondered if she would ever just tell them the truth. I wanted to tell grandma everything that I knew, but it wasn't all of it however. It was for Raven to explain things to grandma. So we sat looking at each other, time ticking by. Neither of them speaking about what happnened. The silence was not comfortable at all, but what do you do?

"I can't." Raven finally spoke up from the floor not looking at Grandma.

"Sooner or later it will all come out. If you take to long it will cause more damage to the relationships you have damaged. I want you to be happy no matter what happens." Grandma sighed as she stood leaving the room, closing the door behind her.
