Flight Home

Flight Home
I woke right at sunset the next day and I just wanted to go home. I was homesick after being away from over two months. I knew that my mother had taken care of the house before coming over for the party. I also knew that I was sick of the vampires here. So many of them were just blood hungry and I didn’t like it much. The work on the synthetic blood wasn’t going as well as Draven wanted. We also needed to let her know what had happened. We both decided not to speak about it to anyone here.

I didn’t trust any of the vampires here. So far they all seemed stuck in the life they where turned in. Some had made the jump and started working with the new tech. Not many did however and you could see how aged and dated they where. Even if they wore normal clothes. The way they talked, the actions all screamed the era they turned in. I had my bags packed ready to head to the airport. Draven had the jet ready for us to head back.

“My love, you where up early.” Draven spoke from behind me as I stood looking out of the window.

“I can’t seem to sleep till dark. Maybe it is the human part of me, the fact that I grew up seeing the sun, being out in it most of the time. Mom never liked me being lazy around the house. Yes even being rich I had to be a normal kid over all. Mind you I didn’t like being around kids. They are hateful to each other. I had friends, but not many.” I sighed thinking about my past. “I stay in touch with a few of the girls I grew up with. A couple of the guys as well. Not that they care much for me.”

I didn’t know why I was dumping all this on him. Did it really matter at this point? Maybe I was just wondering about our wedding. Who would I really invite? Mom and Dad are about the only people besides Draven that would be there for me. Maybe we could just do a small wedding and not worry about others. Just our parents and close friends. None of my family was worth my time. They always wanted a hand out and I was sick of it. I would invite Ceri because he will be making my dress. I smiled about that thought.

“You don’t normally talk about your past.” Draven came over to wrap his arms around me. “What’s wrong?”

“I have reason for that.” I told him leaning into him. “I was bullied pretty much from the time I started middle school till I graduated high school. It wasn’t as bad in college.”

“People really don’t understand an amazing person like you.” He kissed my neck as he spoke. “You didn’t let it change you and that is remarkable.”

“I know that for sure. They want to hurt the ones they think won’t fight. Back then I didn’t.” I was so pissed off at myself for that now. “Now I see those I went to school with and they are so nice and apologize. I want to hate them, but I can’t.”

“I am going to get dressed and ready to go.” Draven pulled away getting a shower then dressing to leave.

The trip to the airport was long and I took in all the land we could see in the night. It was so dark on these skinny roads. You never know what is going to jump in front of the car. So many of the natives say they don’t drive on the main road because it is dangerous. Partly due to wildlife, but at this time of night we should be safe. I stopped looking out the windows when we came to the airport. It wasn’t like a big airport that has a large building with many different gates. This was a single building with a single gate. Only small planes landed here. As we drove up to the jet I smiled. Ready to be done with the area. I loved it here, the people where so nice. I was just ready to be home.

I had so many things I needed to take care of at home. The new busness which Draven had been taking care of for me. I wanted to be a part of it, but he told me that he didn't think I would like it much. It was just meettings after meetings. Nothing huge. Since he told me that I told him I wanted to create a work place that people would want to work at. Yes we do employee that were human. So I wanted to make sure that they would be happy and want to stay. Draven told me that it would make things worse. I sighed but still wanted to do it. I had already started by making sure that the building being used would have enough room for everything. The production of the candy, was in a medium building that had garden attached so people could go out and enjoy the sun. Then a day care for those that had kids. A place for them to eat as well. So far production had almost doubled. She laughed when Draven seen the numbers.

"Buckle in my love." Draven told her as they sat to take off.

"Got it." I told him giving him a big smile.

The flight was long so we had a room to sleep in a bed. That was after we got into the air. After about twenty minutes the stewdess let them know they could unbuckle. I bring out the book I started the frist couple of nights here. Draven looked over at me smiling. I look at him wondering if he wanted to talk but he just smiled. So I was rather sure that I could go back into the book. Around sunrise we both went to bed to get some sleep. I almost wanted to sit and watch the sun. I was tired so I went to bed instead.
