Chapter 20 CHAPTER 20
As I keep scouts observing them it seamed a large man and woman would come and talk to them the man kept getting aggressive with the young girl. It seemed the three men were protecting the girl. I was very curious as to what was going on so I took a couple of my warriors out for a run and made it look like we happen to run into them.
"Excuse me could I ask for a drink of water," I asked the man who had come to the store.
"Of course, my name is Roman, that is my daughter and this is Kyle and Nigel. I hope we have not done anything wrong Alpha?" He said passing me some fresh water. So, he knew I was the Alpha smart man.
"How long do you plan on staying here?" I asked. The girl got up and came over to me. "We are not allowed to leave. They will not let us." The girl said. Roman put his arm around her.
"Now, don't worry we will leave soon." He told her.
"Yah right they guard us at night. Alpha sir we really can not leave. Imara said they will punish me if I try." She said softly. I thanked them for the water and we left. I felt for the girl, but they were not on my land so I could do nothing to help. We went back to the pack house. I sent the warriors back to their duties. I went back to my paperwork that was never ending. Vince my best friend since grade school and now Beta came into the office we shared.
"You missed a good lunch Blake. So, what did you find out?" He asked. I don't think she is his daughter but more he has taken her under his wing. Something happened to her not to long ago. She has a lot of bruises and the way she got up and walked I bet she has some broken ribs." I explained what it looked like and what the girl had said to me.
"There was no woman with the three men and the girl, so she must have been from the bigger group threatening them."
"Do you believe her?" Vince asked.
"If I had not seen the bruises on her or the broken ribs. Maybe not. The three she us with looked very protective of her. So, I do believe the other group is holding them there for some reason."
"Do you think they have been apart of the rouge attacks that have been happening?" He asked.
"The larger group I would say yes the 4 no. I can't even help her they are not on pack land. Until such time they move onto pack land or attack my hands are tied." I told him.
"It is a shame they raise children in such conditions." Vince said. Printing stuff for me to sign.
"Nothing I can do, as I already said besides she is almost eighteen by the looks of it."
"How many redheads with them?" He asked.
"Shit I think just her hair is braided." I said.
"Did you see her eyes?" He asked.
"No, she kept her head down." I told him
"Remember that missing persons report we got like a year ago?" Vince asked
"No, we get so many." I said.
"Good think I keep them." He said and went into the filing cabinet and pulled out a paper and handed it to me.
"Was that her?" He asked. I looked at the picture add more female curves the sun and more braids.
"Yes, that is her. What is her name Raven." I said.
"We should notify this Joe and tell him she is alive at least." Vince suggested.
"She is running with rouges; Vince do they want to hear that. I would say no." I told him.
"She disappeared in a snowstorm Blake I would at least want to know she is alive. I’m going to call this guy Joe."
"Suit yourself, but I don't want him running here thinking he can take on a bunch of rouges. I don't need the headache so far they have caused us no trouble." I told him.
"Soon or later the are going to cross our borders to steal stuff. Deal with them now save the girl. Hero's," Vince said.
"I already told you, don't make me repeat myself Vince." I said and left the office.
He was right it would be easy to go in and take the girl she said she wanted to leave. But what made her runaway to begin with. Vince and his belief in some ancient pack that died out a long time ago. I went for a walk to the lake. Who believed they existed anymore probably no one but Vince. Though the girl had all the signs except I never saw her eyes. I skipped a stone over the water.
Why was this bothering me so much. She was just another rouge and rouges were trouble. I got up and went to watch the warriors in training.
ROMAN'S POV
After that incident we never left Raven alone or go any where alone. We gave her space to be her. But we were never far away. After another two weeks Imara came alone and said we would be leaving in the morning. At the time I was glad. But when morning came and I found out we were going with them I called her aside.
"What the hell Imara you not get enough sex yet?" This got me a slap in the face. But I laughed at her.
"Look you want to stay with him do it let us take Raven where she is going." I said.
"No, someone wants to meet Raven, then we will leave. She is not our responsibility."
"Have you list it Imara, you made her our responsibility a year and a half ago, I will not just abandon her. She will have her first shift in two days. Are you going to help her with that or be playing with your boy toy?" I asked. She went to slap me again but this time I stopped her catching her arm and holding it tight. I deserve the first one strike me again and you will not like what happens to you." I told her and let go of her arm.
"Who was that guy you were all talking to a few of days ago. He is the Alpha of a near by pack. We are not on his land Nore has anyone bothered him. He came to see if Raven needed anything."
"How did he know we were here, let alone know about Raven?" She asked horrified.
"I don't know, maybe because your goons attacked her and ruined the only clothes she had. So, I took MY savings and went to the store in the town close by and got her new clothes and boots. Apparently the Alpha owns the store and saw me there twice.
