(Devan's POV).
I felt uneasy since I saw what happened to Vivian in my apartment earlier. It seemed like she was hiding something and didn't want to tell me. Maybe she thought that I was still a stranger to her.
But her demeanor worried me. She looked like someone scared. Like she was being chased by someone who was trying to hurt her. But who and why?
Damn.
It's frustrating because I don't know Vivian's personal life so I can't do anything for her. So I asked Phelan to come to my office.
I heard a knock on the door and Stefanny's voice followed.
"Sir, Phelan is here to see you," she informed me.
"Let him in!" I called.
The door opened and I stared at Phelan who emerged from behind the door and walked towards me.
"Sir," he greeted as he bowed to me.
"I want you to follow Vivian for some time," I ordered. "Follow her wherever she goes, but don't let her find out. And check if there is anything suspicious."
"Has something happened to Miss Vivian?" asked Phelan.
"I feel something is wrong with her. I think someone's trying to hurt her," I guessed, but I hoped it was just me worrying too much.
"Yes, sir. I will do as you instruct," he replied.
"Just let me know if there's anything strange."
"I understand." He bowed and hurried out of my room.
I sighed long and rested my head on the back of the chair. I hope nothing serious happens. I would go crazy if something bad happened to him.
I checked my phone to see if Vivian had replied to my messages or not, but I didn't receive any new messages. I've messaged her many times, asking if she's okay. But she still ignored me and put distance between us.
Was she upset because of Adam's problem?
But it felt strange. I felt very comfortable around Adam. It was a feeling I couldn't put into words, but I felt like I had a bond with him. And I wanted to see him all the time.
Is it because I'm too obsessed with Freya, that I keep imagining Vivian is Freya? But they are two different people. But for some reason, my heart always flutters whenever I'm around her, and I feel that she's the woman I've loved all along.
I groan when I hear my cell phone ring.
"Hm? What's wrong?"
"Are you busy?" I furrowed my brow at Jason's question.
"Why?"
"You forgot? You asked for my help. Come to Vivian's boutique right now."
I immediately stood up my mood instantly rising to the highest level. Without saying anything, I ended the call and grabbed my car keys from the glove compartment. I rushed out of my office.
It seemed like I was out of my mind. Just because I wanted to meet Vivian, it made my whole blood boil with excitement.
Arriving there, I was immediately greeted by Jason's hug that greeted me.
"You came like lightning," he whispered in my ear, teased me.
"Just shut your mouth," I swore.
I glanced over at Rachel and Vivian who were chatting together.
"Hi, Rachel," I greeted her. She stood up and gave me a quick hug.
"Hi, Devan. Long time no see."
"Well, yeah." I gave Rachel a glance before I dropped my gaze only to Vivian who was standing there. Awkwardly and without saying anything. "You're not going to greet me?" I asked her.
"Welcome, Mr. Harrison," Vivian greeted.
I clucked in annoyance and immediately glared at Jason when I heard him laughing at me.
"Fight harder to break the ice. She's not easy to deal with. Not like Freya, huh?" he chuckled as he spoke near my ear.
I wanted so badly to beat him up and curse him with every curse I knew, but I tried to act calm in front of Vivian. I didn't want to give her an even worse impression since she already disliked me from the start of our meeting.
"Come here, I'll start measuring you," Vivian said.
"Well, then we'll go downstairs to have a look around the place," Jason said. He smiled at me and Vivian in turn. "Come on, darling." He took Rachel by the hand and led her outside.
I moved closer to Vivian. Deliberately narrowing the distance between us, but she immediately backed away.
"You don't need to get this close. Just sanding here and let me do my job," she said curtly.
"Okay."
I watched as she measured me.
"Are you feeling better?" I asked in a low voice.
"What's wrong with me?" She glanced at me. "Aren't you the one who's sick?"
"I'm just worried...."
"There's nothing to worry about. And stop worrying about me."
"Why?"
She looked up, staring at me.
"Because I don't like being pitied," she said.
"You think I pity you?" I dropped my hand that had been raised from my fangs. "Vivian."
"Your hand."
"I think we need to get this straightー"
"Mr. Harrison. Please cooperate," she cuts me off.
"Devan. Call me Devan," I groaned in annoyance. Pushing her until her body hit the wall behind her.
"What are you doing?!" her eyes widened as she looked at me. "Let go of me right now!" she protested.
I swallowed my saliva with difficulty. Staring at her intently. Both of my hands pressed against his arms so that he could not move.
"Isn't there even a slight chance for me?" I whispered right in her face.
"What do you mean?"
"You still don't get it?"
"I don't. And I'm working now. You're a friend of my client. So behave like you should!" she shouted.
"What if I insist?"
"What?"
"I'm like a crazy person. I'm completely insane right now and I can't control myself." I blinked. "I want so badly to cross the boundaries you always set. I want to pursue you brutally whether you like it or not."
"You're out of your mind, aren't you?" she pivoted, trying to rebel to be released. "Let me go!"
"I won't. Never." I pulled her into my arms. Holding her tightly even as she struggled to be released. "Vivian... I want you so badly."
