(Freya's POV).
"Wh-What do you mean?" My voice trembled as I spoke. Also, my hand was in his grasp.
While Theo looked at me with a sad look. I felt my chest tighten and it felt like my throat was being held back by something, making it impossible for me to breathe and speak normally.
"Fey...."
"What happened?"
Again he was silent as if it was difficult to speak.
"Theo..."
He shook his head. "No, nothing. I just want us to live a new life. I only have you, so I...." He smiled wryly.
"You were fine before. You didn't act like this when I told you that I was married. Are you sure that's the only problem?"
I furrowed my brow as he stood up and let out a long sigh.
"Theo?"
"We'd better get home. I don't want you getting home late."
My vision blurred as he suddenly walked ahead of me. I tried to catch up with him with my arms outstretched. My voice slowly disappeared as I called his name.
"Theo...."
My head felt heavy and the throbbing sensation grew until I couldn't help it. My body felt weak even just to stand up. I swayed to the side as the footing no longer felt level. My body collapsed on the asphalt.
And the last thing I saw was Theo's panicked face as he ran towards me.
Everything went very dark.
When I came to, I woke up on the ceiling of an unfamiliar room. I looked around and realized that it was a hospital room. I looked around for Theo, but he wasn't there. And to my surprise, Jason was sitting next to me.
"Jason...."
"Oh, you're awake?"
"What happened? Why are you here? Where's Theo?" I asked while trying to get up. I touched my head which felt dizzy and I felt Jason helping me swiftly.
"He's doing payment administration," he replied.
"And you? How did you get here?" I looked at him in confusion.
Last I remembered, I was with Theo at the funeral, and how I ended up in the hospital with Jason. He had never even met Theo.
"I accidentally saw you guys at the funeral."
"Wha-What?" I frowned in confusion.
"I came to my parents' grave. As everyone knows, I'm adopted."
I was stunned. No, I didn't even know that he was adopted. I thought he was a biological child. How....
"I-I didn't know you were … sorry," I whispered, regretfully.
He chuckled. "What are you apologizing for?"
"It's just ... I don't know."
I looked at him and he looked at me. We hadn't seen each other for a few days since his confession of love. And he seemed so calm as if it never happened.
"How are you feeling? Better?"
"Yes. Still a little dizzy, but I'm feeling better. Thank you, Jason."
"No problem." She paused. "Fey ... about that time...."
"No, please ... don't say anything. Iー"
"Not about the confession issue. But about your brother..." He interrupted. "You didn't tell Devan about your brother, right?"
"Why?" My face paled again. "What exactly are you hiding from me? Whether it's Theo or you, you're acting as if...." My voice was muffled.
I didn't know what had happened. Theo's attitude became weird when I told him Devan's long name. Suddenly asking me to divorce him and live alone with him. Jason had always warned me not to tell Devan about Theo's problems.
"Fey."
"I need an explanation. Your behavior is confusing me."
At the same time, I felt a sense of uneasiness and worry that I couldn't explain and tell. Just looking at their expressions made me feel an overwhelming sense of dread.
"You can ask your brother. He should explain it to you," he said. He looked at me with doubt.
Just then, the door opened and Theo walked into the room. He looked tired and worried. His eyes fell on me as he entered. He walked quickly over to the bed and asked about my condition with his hoarse voice and puffy eyes.
Did he just cry?
"How are you feeling?"
"Feel better," I said in a low voice. But my eyes continued to stare at him.
"Thank goodness." He smiled. "Oh, I wanted to thank you for helping us," he said to Jason. I looked at her too.
"No problem. We know each other anyway," Jason said, smiling at me.
"Theo, this is Jason...."
"I know, we met earlier. He was the one who helped me get to the hospital. I don't know what would have happened if he hadn't been there."
Jason smiled. "I happened to be there too." He stood up quickly. "I'll go out and leave you two alone for a while."
"Yeah, thanks."
"I'll be back." He smiled at me. I closed my eyes as he touched my cheek. It gave off a strange warm feeling. And I just nodded in response.
The door closed and it was just us in the room. The atmosphere turned silent and felt claustrophobic. Theo continued to look at me with his sad eyes. His hand never left mine as if he was afraid I would leave and not come back.
"Are you sure you're okay?" he asked again, confirming that I was indeed on the mend.
"Yes, why? Did the doctor say anything about my illness?"
"No." He shook his head as he closed her eyes. Then his brownish eyes looked back at me. "The doctor just said that you're tired. Please take care of your health. I don't want to see you sick, Fey."
"Sorry. I'll be more careful from now on," I replied. "But Theo..."
"Hm?"
"Can you explain what you said at the funeral? I want to know the real reason why you want me to divorce Devan. You were fine about it before."
But I also felt uneasy ever since I first told him I was married. He asked me if I was happy, which made me feel that he knew I wasn't.
"We'll talk about it later, hm? You're sick. You should rest more. It's not a big deal anyway." He lowered her head. And I heard his sigh heavily. "Maybe it's because I just got out of prison. I feel that being away from you feels a little suffocating."
"Liar." My voice trembled as I looked at her. "Even Jason... He also asked me not to tell Devan about you. There must be something you guys are hiding from me right?!"
