Chapter 88 - The Beta's Fate
The journey got underway early the next morning. Four black SUVs left the Royal Pack and drove towards the Dark Moon Pack. They arrived two hours later. As they pulled up to the packhouse, the Alpha of the Dark Moon stood next to the pack house with three women.
Wes got out of the driver’s seat of the second SUV, he went around and opened the passenger door and helped Dawn down, then he opened the back passenger and helped Farrah down. He hooked out his elbows and the girls each grasped one.
“Alpha Derek, thank you for accepting us at Dark Moon. These are my mates, Dawn and Farrah Black.”
“Welcome Commander Wes, thank you for considering Dark Moon to recruit for the Royal Elites. My warriors are extremely eager to show you what they are made of. May I introduce my mother, Luna Grace, and my sisters Gloria and Jessica.”
Wes watched as they bowed to him and his girls. Twenty omegas' came out of the packhouse and got their luggage. They were shown to their rooms along with his Elites. Everyone was staying in the packhouse. Wes liked that. He didn’t want his Elites or his mate’s guards too far away.
They were given lunch. Wes and the girls got to know the Alpha and his family. He congratulated Wes on finding his mates so soon after coming back from Alpha training, and Wes told him he'd always known Dawn and Farrah were his mates.
“How is that possible?” Jessica asked.
“The Moon Goddess told me when I was very young. Plus, I’ve always felt a pull towards them from the moment they were born.” He looked at his girls and they blushed.
“Ladies, with Prince Wes doing his Commander duties, what do you do for the Royal Pack?” Luna Grace asked.
“I’m the Royal Healer for the Royal Pack and Farrah is a Royal Treasurer.”
Alpha Derek froze mid bite. He seemed to vibrate in his seat at Dawn, mentioning she was a Royal Healer. Luna Grace and her daughters gasped.
Clearing his throat, he looked at Dawn and Wes.
“May I humbly ask for your services, Princess Dawn? My father is extremely ill. None of our doctors can figure out what is wrong with him.”
Dawn looked at his eager face and then the women. They all had hopeful tears in their eyes.
“I would be honored to help your father. Please show me to him. Wes, please stay with Farrah. Josh with me please.”
She got out of her seat. Luna Grace and Alpha Derek lead the way to the former Alpha’s room.
“He has memory issues. He forgets to eat sometimes and gets furious when we try to make him eat. Just the other day, he called me his mother’s name and I had to go for a run. My wolf and I were shattered,” Luna Grace said.
Dawn nodded as they entered the room. A man sat in a lounge chair by the window looking out.
He looked over, and his eyes lit up.
“Gracie, I see our pups playing. Look, little Glory and Jess are chasing Derry.”
Dawn was taken aback when he grabbed her hand and pointed. She looked at Luna Grace who had tears falling from her eyes. Luna Grace did have black hair like her, but not the white pieces. But Grace had hazel eyes and not blue. Dawn didn’t want to upset the man as she looked out the window to see three little kids, two girls and a boy playing tag.
“They are beautiful,” she said.
“We make great pups.”
“Darling, may I massage your scalp. Remember you love my massages,” Dawn said.
“Of course, my love.”
Dawn looked at Luna Grace for permission. She nodded her head. She watched as her son wrapped his arms around his mother so she wouldn’t attack her. Dawn nodded at him in thanks. Josh stood next to her for extra protection.
Dawn laid her hands on the side of the former Alpha’s head. She pressed gently and closed her eyes as she started to massage his head. She could hear the Luna letting out grunts, trying to control her wolf.
Dawn imagined the brain, and she could feel hot spots in the Alpha’s head. She concentrated on those spots. As she concentrated, bright red explosions went off behind her eyes. She imagined she was breaking through the blockage that was hindering the former Alpha’s memory. For ten minutes she worked on him. Every time an explosion happened, the former Alpha sighed like he was feeling immense relief. When she was done, she swayed and Josh caught her. He lifted her into his arms and laid her down on a nearby couch.
Dawn watched as the former Alpha opened his eyes and smiled at his mate and son.
“That was wonderful Gracie. Thank you. Why are you holding your mother, Derek? Is everything alright my dear? Why are you crying?”
Luna Grace let out a sob and threw herself at her mate, who caught her and comforted her. He arranged her on his lap and rubbed her back. He looked confused.
Dawn told Josh to help her up.
“I will leave you to explain to your father, Alpha Derek.”
“Thank you so much, Princess Dawn. I can’t thank you enough. You have no idea how this has affected our family. May the Moon Goddess bless you for all eternity.”
Dawn bowed her head in acknowledgment. Josh held on to her as he helped her to her room.
“Inform your Commander that I need to rest. I am too weak to mindlink him. But let him know I am fine, Farrah too, please.”
Josh nodded. After he mindlinked Wes and Farrah, he moved away from the bed and stood guard by the door. He counted to ten before the door burst open and Wes and Farrah rushed inside.
“Are you okay, my love?” Wes asked, coming over to the bed.
“Dawnie, do you need anything?”
“I’m fine, just rest. Please go about the day without me. I am just going to take a nap.”
“Okay, My Angel. I love you.” Wes leaned down and kissed her. Farrah leaned over and hugged her.
Wes found Alpha Derek at the front of the packhouse. He asked him to have his warriors ready and waiting at the training grounds. Derek nodded and walked him to the training grounds. Wes mindlinked Davis and the rest of his Elite team to meet on the training grounds.
There were eighty hopefuls. Wes ran them through their pack's obstacle course. He had them race in groups of five, and then he had the twenty that were remaining, fight his Elites. He discussed the twenty with Alpha Derek. The Alpha informed him his pack consisted of just wolf shifters. He wasn’t opposed to other species joining his pack, he just hadn’t had the opportunity. Wes talked to him about the missing girls. He told them the four from his pack were still resting in the Royal Pack and that two of them had found their mates among the Royal Elites. Derek was ecstatic.
“This means our alliance is stronger than ever. This is truly the Moon Goddess’ blessing.”
“You know my brother is going to be contacting you to see if you and twenty of your pack members would like to visit the Royal Pack to see if maybe your mates are there.”
“Really! I want my mate so badly. If it wasn’t for my father becoming Ill last year, I would have done a Pack Tour. I’m twenty-one now and still haven’t found my Luna. You are so lucky to have your mates, and such gifted ones too. I’d envy you, but I don’t know if I could handle two.”
Wes chuckled, “My mates are special, they make it easy for me.”
There were five new Elites that came from the Dark Moon. They stayed the night to give those five people time to say goodbye to their families. In the morning, they went off to the Whispering Willow Coven to give them news about their witch, and then the White Fang Pack.
