Away From Him

Away From Him
When a flower blooms the unmerciful cannot stand still and treasure it. It drives them insane to see the flower sprout and grow with warmth and beauty so they crush it. They stomp their feet upon the flower killing it and its seed. Just like Deimos who crushed my heart. He not only crushed my heart but the seed that bloomed with hope and dreams along with it.

As the rain drops fall upon the car window so does my tears upon my cheek. Ragon drives me to Cronus's pack as a storm begins its wrath. It's funny how the weather describes perfectly what is happening within me. There's a storm in my heart and when I think of Deimos it thunders and strikes bringing forth pain.

Ragon refuses to glance nor speak to me. He is filled with guilt. The guilt of knowing. I do not blame him; his loyalty is to his Alpha. Yet I do not tell him this. The ride to Cronus's pack seems to be really far and neither Ragon nor me were prepared for it.

"Why didn't you tell me Cronus's pack is quite far?" I finally break the silence with my hoarse voice as Ragon's head snaps to me.

"You would have suggested to leave tomorrow yet I could see it in your eyes you really wished to leave that moment, Luna." He tells me softly to which I don't reply. He is right. I couldn't stand being there in that castle another moment. A castle filled with coldness and lies. I now understand warmth cannot grow there nor can I be of any help.

The storm doesn't cease and neither do we stop. Ragon keeps driving without stopping. He knows that I want to be there as soon as possible. I ached for comfort from a true friend. I look outside the window as Ragon switches the heater on. My cheeks softly lie upon the cold window as I close my eyes letting sleep carry the weight of my heart.

A soft shake to my shoulder wakes me up from my slumber as my eyes clear from clouded sleep. I look at Ragon. "Luna, we have arrived. I have already informed him of your arrival." He tells me softly.

As I look ahead, I see Cronus rushing out with a concerned look as I swiftly get up and though it is raining heavily, I run to him. My legs push me to him as I finally have my comfort. My sobs grow in sound and pain and I finally run into his open arms as he catches me.

"It's okay, I've got you. I've got you." He whispers softly in my ear soothing me as you would do to an afraid pup. As I look to the side, I see Ragon watching from the car his eyes in pain. He might never get to see his Luna again and that fills him with agony. He wishes for my return. I look away, sometimes it's okay to put yourself first. I need time.

Cronus leads me slowly inside his home and orders one of the wolves to get me a towel. As I look around, I see curious faces questioning as to who I am.

"Come, Luna." Cronus leads me to the living room as a soft towel is placed on my head. He dries my hair and tries to make me look at him as my eyes wander around the room grasping everything.

"What happened?" He sits down beside me as I keep my silence. He waits. This is one of the things I like about Cronus. He doesn't push me; he gives me time to adjust.

"He lied." I tell him as he frowns. "About everything. He made me believe we could have a future. He made me believe he felt something for me."

Cronus sighs as he answers. "What he has done is extremely wrong I agree yet there must be a reason."

"There is. He wanted me to love him. He thought I would leave with the way things were going on between us. He needed me to stay so one day I would give him an heir." I tell him as tears form once more.

"Luna-" Cronus begins but I cut him off.

"I don't understand. You know all I wanted is for him to open his heart. I didn't ask him for riches nor power. I asked him for such a simple thing and this is what he gives me. Lies." I tell him my feelings as the sky thunders to my pain.

"Sometimes what might seem easy to you can be one of the hardest things to do for another." Cronus tells me softly as I begin to fume.

"I came here for comfort not for you to support his actions." My voice stern and strong.

"I understand, but do you? Why don't you put yourself in his shoes?" Cronus questions me as my lips wobble. I get up and stride to the door and into the pouring rain.

"Luna! Luna!" Cronus chases after me.

"Perhaps I was wrong to come here. I will seek shelter elsewhere. You are on his side! You are defending him!" I scream to him. I do not know why I am acting like a pup but I just want someone to hold me and tell me it will be alright.

"I just want someone to... to-" I hiccup trying to tell him what I need as he pulls me into his arms.

"I am sorry. Let's go inside and not talk about what happened. We can do whatever you want and I will do whatever I can to aid you." Cronus tells me as I snuggle into his warmth.

As we get into the warmth of his home I am softly pushed into the bathroom for a shower. Finishing up I head down for dinner as I pass by Cronus's office, I hear his voice.

"Remember Deimos actions, words and choices bring consequences." Cronus says as I open the door and he puts a finger to his lips telling me to remain quiet. Cronus paces back and forth as I watch him calmly. "You wish to speak to her?" Cronus looks up at me and I shake my head. "I don't think she wants to."

I leave the office not interested in their conversation anymore and get some dinner. I don't eat with his pack I eat alone in the living room watching the rain that doesn't seem to calm down.

I hear footsteps towards me and Cronus sits softly next to me. He switches on some device that begins to play light classical music. The music calms me as I finish my food.

"So, what did he say?" I ask Cronus placing the plate on the table in front of me, bringing my knees to my chest.

"Nothing much, just checking up on you." Cronus says as I scoff. Of course, he won’t apologize or ask me to forgive him.

Away from Him – Part II

"Are you not tired, Luna? It was quite the long ride, wasn't it?" Cronus questions as I nod. "Alright I will show you to your room." Cronus smiles as he opens his hand to me which I take.

Holding my hand, he leads me to a room. It had a warm fireplace and French doors leading to the balcony. A king-sized bed with red satin covers and a beautiful chandelier gave beauty to the room.

"Like it?" Cronus asks me to which I nod continuously as he chuckles. "Sleep." He says as he pats my head and leaves closing the door softly.

A new environment. A new place. A new room. It scares me yet also seems to be a great refuge. Laying on the soft bed I look towards the fire place. It looks like the same one in Deimos's library. I smile to myself thinking of the memories I have at that place but tears come forth. No matter what heartache is heartache and pain are pain.

Closing my eyes, I begin to rest as everything around me becomes calm, until I cannot hear the sound of the rain upon the windows or the pain of my beating heart.

The cold night comes to an end as the birds’ chirp at my window to which I rise and smile. I rarely see birds near Deimos's pack more rabbits than birds. The bird is beautiful painted with the brightest of colors and a sharp beak.

"And is this my good morning call?" I ask myself as I smile at the bird.

"Ah I see Caroline woke you up." I hear Cronus's voice behind me as I swiftly turn and the bird flies inside and sits upon his shoulder. Cronus strokes her neck with his finger as she leans further into him.

"Luna, meet my lover, Caroline." Cronus says to which I laugh.

"Lover?" I ask him as he chuckles.

"Yes, we have been through so much together. Haven't we Caroline?" Cronus talks to the bird as she puts her beak upon his cheek. Cronus kisses her back. "I apologize that you had to see us make out early in the morning." Cronus says to which I laugh once more.

I skip breakfast as I don't feel like I can stomach anything right now. I just need some fresh air in my lungs to freshen me up. Stretching I head outside feeling the sun's warmth upon my skin. The storm has left after it's long fight through the night.

"Luna!" Cronus calls out to me as I turn around and look at him. "I apologize I was caught up with some matters to deal with. What would you like to do today?" He questions me.

"I don't know. What do you have in mind?" I ask Cronus to which he thinks.

"Would you like to go on a bike ride?" He asks me to which I pout.

"I don't know how to ride one." I look at my feet a little embarrassed.

"That's alright. I can teach you. Come on it'll be fun." Cronus smiles to which I nod excitedly.

Cronus leads me to a shed. It seemed like a large warehouse and deep inside were bicycles. So many of them. Why are there so many? Do they sell them or something?

"You must be wondering why there are so many of them. Other pack members like to come over for sightseeing so they use our bikes." Cronus clarifies for me to which I nod.

Pushing a bicycle out of the warehouse Cronus turns around and looks at me. "Sit behind me, when we get to the sight, I will teach you." Cronus says to me adjusting the seats.

Sitting behind him I hold onto the back of my seat as Cronus takes us away from the pack land and into the open fields. The breeze that softly touches my cheeks and the warm back of Cronus ignites overwhelming feeling within me. It feels peaceful.

Stopping near an empty path Cronus gets off and gives me a sly smile as I tilt my head. "Luna, your turn." He says with a funny voice.

I move up and towards the driver’s seat and fiddle with the handlebar and pedal. How do I even control this thing? Do my hands do the work or my feet?

"Okay legs on the pedals and hands on bars." Cronus tells me and I do it trying to balance myself. It seems impossible. "I will push you from behind so just focus on balancing, Luna." Cronus tells me gently.

I swiftly turn and look into his eyes. "You dare let go and I will murder you." I tell him with a serious look which makes him laugh deep from his belly.

"I promise I won't." Cronus tells me his truth and I look forward. I can do this. It's not that hard all I have to do is balance and if I fall Cronus will catch me.... or laugh at me. If he does, I will kill him.

Cronus begins to push forwards and I focus on balancing. The front wheel seems to have a mind of its own moving left and right just not forward.

A few minutes later with me screaming at Cronus and him laughing in response I finally get a hold of it. I begin riding forward and look behind at Cronus to tell him to push faster. "Cronus can you see this? Push faster I want to-." When I look behind Cronus is far behind from me and I scream.

"Cronus! You left me! I am going to die!" I scream trying to balance as my anxiety gets a hold of me.

"Just ride Luna! Focus on the feeling it gives you." Cronus screams back with a hearty laugh. Listening to him I close my eyes and take a shaky deep breath as I begin driving back to Cronus. My eyes widen as my mind finally understands that I am riding quite well.

"I am riding. I am riding it. Cronus are you seeing this? “I scream to Cronus as he watches me with a gentle smile, his hands in his pockets. I laugh from my belly. I laugh so loud that my heart picks up its pace.

Reaching Cronus, I drop the bicycle onto the ground and run into his open arms laughing. As he picks me up and swirls me around. "I did it! I finally did something I only dreamt as a pup."

Everything seems at peace. I didn't think about what happened yesterday. Cronus could change up everything in a matter of few hours. He had the power to make me smile and make my dreams come true one by one.

Perhaps I should plant my seed of hope and dreams here. Here, with Cronus.
