Chapter 81: Family

CALISTA'S POV

I told Grey about our babies first, and the man was literally over the moon when he heard the news I had never seen him look so happy before and I was equally happy as well I thought he would be eager to tell the kids about it, but then later he told me that he wanted to give it some time I'm not just pounce the news on them like that.

He wants them to get used to him and like him first before telling them the sudden news.

It didn't sound like such a bad idea and so I supported it every day he would come over to see the twins, and every day they would seem more enthusiastic to see him than the last I could tell her they were getting closer.

They had gotten so close that he became a regular guest in their playroom a territory of theirs that even I need their permission to enter, and even though I had to admit that there was this light within of jealousy inside of me it was totally overwhelmed by the tsunami of joy that overwhelmed my heart as well when I saw all of them together like that.

This was the family that I wanted for them so badly, and I had to admit it was the only reason why I kept dating and trying out new men one after the other or who somehow managed to disappoint me in their own unique ways.

Some of them were not that bad but whenever I compared them to my husband I felt like I was lowering my standards by being with them and I just couldn't stand that.

But back then I was desperate. I wanted a father figure for them especially as they were getting older and they were frequently asking about who their father was or when he was coming back and we were getting so smart, smarter than children their age that eventually in my petty lies would not get to them anymore.

My kids were actually so smart that sometimes I wonder the day we know the ones fooling me, whether indeed they knew that I wasn't planning for their father to ever come back before we settled our issues and cleared out all the misunderstandings.

Back then it was always so sad whenever I talk to that I finally managed to meet a sensible guy and then the moment he saw my kids the smile on his face will immediately drop down to the ground and then we would have a pretentious evening of him pretending to like my kids that was if that guy was even polite enough to do so some of them will immediately turn around and say; "This was not part of the deal I don't want to raise another man's kid." And just leave like that.

Honestly, I felt more or less relieved when this man walked out of my life but the only thing that made me worry was when my children didn't want them to get teased for not having a father or feel that emptiness or that vacuum inside of them that I had been practically grown up with.

So as I walked into the playroom I saw all of them laughing and having fun together my heart literally melted like I start having placed under direct sunlight and I caught myself laughing as well before I could even hold back and then all of them looked at me I was only treated like an intruder I should sit back a little bit till I was asking him threshold and then looked at my twins.

"I'm sorry, Prince Tommy and Princess Taylor for so rudely trespassing. May I enter your Kingdom of fun and Joy?"

I said giving them a dramatic 90° bow and circling my hand about in an exaggerated gesture, whenever I was in their playroom I had to apply by the rules and they loved being called prince and princess which was quite interesting considering that too they were actually real royalty they didn't even know.

"I don't know about that," Tommy said then he turned over to his father; "we will have to ask the king about it...King Grey, can our mummy come in?"

He pretended to ponder on this request that I made deeply before finally saying something into Taylor's ear. She nodded smiling while he was trying to hold back his laughter and then Taylor rushed over to me and stretched out her hand to take mine.

"You may enter the kingdom of

of fun and Joy, however, our king has one condition..."

"Hmm," I hummed,"... and what would that condition like to be?

she paused and placed her hands on her little hips puffing out her chest proudly

"The condition is that you are great to be his Queen..."

From almost trying to hold back my laughter and bursting out I felt all the blood in my face immediately rushing from the rest of my body and I looked at my husband, I was already trying to hide the blush which was practically pointless because the moment my daughter noticed it she yelled at the top of her lungs.

"Mummy is blushing! Mummy is blushing!!"

She yelled loud enough that somebody from the other side of town would have heard her with ease, and then she held my hand or at least she tried to well it's just ended up getting enveloped by mine then she led me over to my husband and since all of the plastic chairs and the playroom were too small for us she brought over some pillows and arranged it for me to sit on as a throne.

All of it felt rather silly, two adults in a kid's playroom with one of them having a plastic tiara placed on her head looking at her husband who had a carbon paper crown that had been painted with more passion than skill, however despite how silly the moments looked I couldn't imagine a moment in my entire life that's why I bought it with my happiness that was rising in my chest.

All of my life the only thing that I'd ever yearned for so sincerely was a family of my own, whenever I would see Mr. and Mrs Walters treating their daughter as if she was the most unique child in the entire world I would almost die with jealousy.

That did not mean that I used to have all my wishes and feelings towards my adoptive sister but brother I just wanted what you had without exactly taking it from her the way she loved taking things from me.

I wanted parents that would love me and take care of me and remind me every day that I was special to them but I never got that instead I was worked every day like a servant while I was being reminded that's the fact that they had adopted me or something that I was supposed to kneel them and thank them for every day.

It wasn't that I wasn't grateful for everything that they have been doing for me, but more than anything else I wish that he has treated me like a daughter instead of a server that should have even been grateful to get to lick the dust under their shoes.

But now I look at myself, the child that they thought was nothing more than an abandoned baby that her parents didn't want. I had reconnected with my loving father.

And now I am with my husband and my two beautiful kids. I couldn't imagine how life will get any better than this.

This was the family that I had always been here for and the one that I had always dreamt of every night since I went to bed and soaked up my pillow with tears.

This was the family I finally had.
