Chapter 26 Twenty Six

Chapter 26 Twenty Six

Elara's POV

Like Darius had stated earlier, the news of the Kordova's warehouse was officially out on air ahs when had to be careful for avoid topping their suspicion list.

Like Darius had said earlier, the Kordova’s warehouse news was now everywhere. We needed to stay quiet and out of trouble.

To keep my head down, I decided to go for some archery practice, alone.

I headed to the archery ground but Cyric saw me just when I wanted to descended the stairs that led to the archery ground.

“Where are you headed to this morning, Boss? The archery?” He inquired, a gleeful smile on his place.

I grabbed his arm, turning it around, accessing how much it has healed. Cyric winced in pain.

“Ouch!.” He yelled out, pulling away from my grip.
“How are you, Cyric? Have you seen the doctor this morning.” I asked, my voice laced with concern.
Cyric nodded positively.
“I met with the doctor early this morning. He checked out my wound. He said I am healing pretty okay but that I shouldn't stress myself much.”

I heaved a sigh of relief.

“I am glad you are okay.”

“So where are you going?”. Cyric asked, curiosity flickering on his face.

“I am going to the archery for practice, Cyric.”

A grin played out in Cyric’s face.

“Let's practice together. I'll show you what I've got. I am a pretty good shooter.”

“You don't have to prove yourself to me Cyric. You need to rest. Remember what the doctor said. You can't indulge your arm in force. Besides I need a time alone to cool off my head.”.

“You don't have to worry about me, Boss. Besides, I really want to practice archery because it's been a while since I shot an arrow. I need to update myself. You never know I might be the one to kill Silvester for you. I might b the lucky one to help finish off Silvester.”
I raised an eyebrow, skeptical of Cyric's enthusiasm.

"You're not totally healed, Cyric. Your arm's still healing. You need your rest." I reminded him.

But Cyric's determination was palpable. "Come on, Boss. I promise I'll take it easy. I am an expert . I know how to handle my self. I won't overexert myself," he pleaded.

I hesitated for a moment, lost in thoughts, then I nodded.

"Alright, but you have to take it slow. Don't try to play the hero role.” Cyric grinned, relief washing over his face.
Together, we descended the stairs, the archery range coming into view.

The targets stood silently with signs of bullet hole, waiting for our shots.

Cyric's eyes lit uo in excitement, and I couldn't help but smile. I was glad he was okay. Seeing a member of my territory hurt, were like piercing a dagger through my heart

Maybe some target practice was just what we both needed.

As we began to shoot, I noticed his form was a bit off, likely due to his injured arm.

"Hey, Cyric, let's focus on technique, okay?" I suggested, helping him adjust his stance.

“I thought you said you were a perfect archer?”. I teased aiming at the target and hitting it with a single shot.

I was a perfect archer. My days of practice had paid off generously.

“I am a good archer. My arm just won't let me get the right target.”
I chuckled, impressed by Cyric's determination.

“Let's see what you got, Cyric " I smirked picking out an arrow from a basket and handing it to Cyric.

Cyric collected it with a broad grin. He took aim, his eyes narrowing as he focused on the target about two metres away from us. After feeling satisfied with his aim, he released the arrow, and it flew straight, hitting the outer ring.

Cyric grinned, proud of himself. I clappled my hands, impressed by what I saw.

“This is definitely not bad for a someone with a wounded arm, right?" I acknowledged. Cyric winced slightly, smiled while nodding in agreement.

"You're getting there gradually Cyric. All you need to do is for you to work on your form." I adviced. Cyric nodded, picking out another arrow from the basket.

Together, we continued to shoot. The rhythmic thud of arrows as the kept hitting the target was a soothing soundtrack to my ears. Soon, Cyric was improving with each shot.

“Thanks fot your compliment, Boss. It means a lot.”

I smiled, happy to see Cyric's progress. "You're welcome, Cyric. You are just so natural. You are able to almost all hit every target spot from this range. With time, you will be perfect.” I encouraged I, as Cyric hit the target again.

“I am perfect. If not for my wounded arm, I am perfect.” He emphasize, a hint of pride in his voice.

The sound of arrows hitting the target filled the atmosphere around us as Cyric kept firing arrows despite his injured arm.
Cyric's determination was very inspiring. The look on his face. How he positioned himself. How he squinted his eyes before every shot.
I was glad I let him join me for the archery session. From the way he fired his arrows one could tell that he was good at archery. He was a professional archer.

As we practiced, we talked about virtual things. About his life in the Kordova. Why he was banished?. Why he decided to join us?

That was when I learnt that he was the youngest son of the Alpha of the Kordova pack who was banished because he slept with his brother's mate.

We cracked jokes and for a moment laughter filled the air and we forgot about our problems. All the danger lurking outside. The Kordova . Lucas. Panta pack.

We were at peace. Our focus was solely on the targets, and the thrill of hitting them.
Cyric's grin grew wider with each successful shot.

“Keep aiming for the target.” I urged while I took up my bow and arrow, hitting the target over an over.

“You are a pro, Boss. I like your spirit.”
