Chapter 58 The First Witches

Chapter 58 The First Witches
Liam’s POV

“I almost forgot about that,” I said as I moved away from Elena who had fallen asleep.

“So should I start making arrangements?” Josh asked me from the phone.

I hated that the council was always making Blood Moon Pack host every pack in the country once a year.

I never understood why it was done but my parents had also done the same thing.

“Alpha?” Josh said.

“I’m thinking, we already have a lot that we are dealing with over here,” I said, trying to weigh our opinions.

“That’s true, should we just host another year?”

We could, but the other packs would notice something is wrong, that’s if they haven’t already heard about our situation with Lady Grey. If we skip they will assume we are weak and most packs would use this time to climb to the top and crush us.

“No, we will host. Increase security for the next three days and we will monitor all the guests coming through.

“Of course Liam.”

I hung up and went back to the room to check on Elena.

Maybe I was being paranoid but she had almost lost her life too many times in the short while I have known her.

I stroked her hair and touched her face.

My mind went back to the scene in the bathroom, where she was stabbing that bastard. She had never looked more breathtaking. I knew I had a joy for killing but I guess the goddess knew who to pick for me.

Lady Grey was really pushing her luck. It was clear that she was a witch from how she possessed that man.

And she was a strong one. I remember when mom would tell me about the first witches and how they could summon the dead and possess their bodies.

Lady Grey did almost the same thing but with a living person. She was going to be a lot to deal with.

“I will be back, little mate,” I kissed her lips softly and left the room.

“Do not let anyone in besides the doctor,” I ordered the guards who stood outside Elena’s room.

“Yes Alpha,” they said at the same time.

I walked out of the hospital but I made sure the guards were still at their different positions in the hospital.

I was not taking any chances with Elena’s life this time.

I was about to head back home and go through the library maybe I would find something about witches like Lady Grey.

Liam. Josh said through the mind link.

I’m listening. I said.

I finally found out who was hoarding the money from the company, it was Cheryl. I think she had been walking with one of the shareholders, Mr Owens.I had my doubts about Owens but Cheryl was really surprising.

She had been walking for the company for such a long time that I had thought she was one of our trusted employees.

What do you want me to do, Alpha? Josh asked.

Fire Cheryl immediately and inform Mr Owens that he wouldn’t be a part of the company anymore and if he tries anything funny, tell him to keep his damn mouth shut or else he wants to rot in prison.

Okay Alpha.

I felt irritated when I closed the link.I got into the car and drove home quickly.

I got to the pack grounds and preparation for the party was already getting started.

I always hated these hosting parties even when I was young but now I can see its importance.

We are the last link to the first lycans and so we need to appear strong in front of the world.

I walked up to my room to take a shower.

I haven’t left the hospital since yesterday.

I took my bath and got dressed and went to the library.

It wasn’t exactly huge but it was big enough to hold many people.

I couldn’t remember when last I had come here, probably when mom and dad would force me to do my homework.

“Good day, Mrs Hannah,” I said to the old lady that was busy under the table.

“Oh my, Alpha Liam,” she bowed. “You are here, how can I help you?”

“I need to find the section for witches, the ones that are restricted to teenagers.”

“Of course, please follow me,” she said as she moved as fast as she could to where it was.

“I can’t remember the last time I saw you here, I think you were ten when your dad came pulling your ear and handing you over to me.”

I laughed as I remembered that day. I had been playing all day when my dad had told me to get my homework done, but I didn’t listen and well he got pissed and gave me to Mrs Hannah because my mom was always too soft on me.

We reached the section of the library and Mrs Hannah opened the little gate blocking it.

“I know I’m old but you can still link me if there’s anything else you need.”

“Thank you Mrs Hannah, I will,” I smiled at her as she walked away.

I went back to what was in front of me.

I looked at the huge stacks of books.

I sighed.

I smiled as I imagined what Elena would say if she found me standing here searching for a book.

It felt like hours searching until I finally found it. I opened the first page and scrolled through until I saw what I was looking for.

The first witches were created by Goddess Selene’s sister, Astra. She gave them a lot of power so they could help the land. But some grew greedy and moved away from what they were supposed to do.They began fighting for their own wants and soon there was a division. The white witches and the dark witches. The white witches wanted peace in the land but the dark ones wanted to rule.

They fought one another until none was left. Astra decided to create a new set of witches but with little magic so they could coexist with the humans.

I stopped reading. If they were all dead, then how did Lady Grey get those powers?

I kept reading but they weren’t mentioned again till the end of the book.

The first witches had the power to control the elements, possess the dead and their most effective teleportation.

I froze.

If Lady Grey could teleport then, she could be in the hospital now.

I needed to get to the hospital now.
