Chapter 137 CHAPTER 137
Michael’s POV
I met Rosaleen and a young lady in the sitting room when I arrived in the house. I was livid but I didn't want to be rude to her in front of the guest.
“Rosaleen,” I said. “Let’s talk.”
She crossed her leg and remained seated. “I’m not here to see you. I’m here to see Alpha Raymond.”
One of the maids served the two of them some snacks. I turned away and walked briskly to Alpha Raymond’s study. I was there to talk some sense to him. I thought he would feel some remorse for what he had done last night, but he had gone ahead to invite Rosaleen into our home.
I didn't bother knocking. I turned the door handle and pushed the door open. He was standing by the window. I was pretty sure he had seen me come in and he was expecting me.
“Why is Rosaleen in the sitting room?” I asked. “I’ve told her she is not welcome here anymore.”
He turned around. “I also live here, Michael, and I welcomed her into my house.”
“You hardly live here. Why is she here?”
He walked to the table and took a sip of his drink. “Now that you are here, we can all talk together. Come,” he said, dropping his drink and headed for the door. “It is time to meet your sister.”
I froze. The young lady that was seated beside Rosaleen. I hadn’t given her more than a glance. “What?”
He said nothing as he walked out of the room. I followed in step beside him until we got to the living room. I noticed the young lady now, but what I noticed more was how she looked like me in a way that was undeniable. She sat on the couch, watching us, unbothered about introducing herself to the gentlemen in front of her.
Rosaleen rose up. “Like I said earlier,” she said, addressing Alpha Raymond. “I was able to find Anna by chance. As soon as I saw the striking resemblance she had to Alpha Michael, I had to check and see the truth.”
She pulled out an envelope from her purse. “This is the DNA test result that was conducted.”
I reached for it and flipped the envelope open. There was a significant positive match.
I looked at Alpha Raymond. He seemed unbothered and too relaxed. “Are you going to accept this?” I asked him.
He didn't smile. “That test result shows she’s my daughter,” he said. He looked at her. “What’s your name?”
She remained fixed on the couch, her back leaning against the back rest. “Anna,” she replied.
“Anna,” he repeated.
“This is absurd,” I said. “This test proves nothing. I cannot trust this test until I carry out one by myself.”
“It was done in a reputable lab,” Rosaleen said. “Alpha Raymond monitored it.”
I looked at him. “You knew about this the whole time?”
“You are getting worked up, son,” he said. “What is the problem? Are you afraid of a little competition? Are you afraid to share with your sister?”
I bit my lips. Something was off but I couldn't just place it. It was too sudden. It felt too plastic. Alpha Raymond was not enthusiastic. The young lady looked plain bored.
“I’ll handle another test,” I said, ignoring his statement. “This is a critical matter and must be handled that way.”
Anna cleared her throat suddenly. “I’m right here,” she said. “It must be a shock for you to find out that you have a sister, but I'm right here now.”
I looked at her.
“Evelyn’s family stole her all these years,” Rosaleen said. “They killed Alpha Raymond’s wife and then stole his daughter. They deserve the worst form of punishment and this is why no one trusts a nine tailed fox.”
I gritted my teeth. “Evelyn had nothing to do with this.” I looked at Alpha Raymond, waiting for him to mention that my mother had not been killed by Evelyn’s mother, but he said nothing.
I stepped forward and faced Rosaleen. “You know nothing of what happened to my mother. You should leave while you can still walk out of here.”
She stepped back and looked at Alpha Raymond.
“She’s my guest here,” he said. “Anna, welcome home. This is your home from now on. Feel free to use anything as you wish.”
“Home?” I repeated.
Anna rose up again and stretched. “Thank you so much, father. I love it here already. And I want Rosaleen to stay here with me.”
“Granted,” he murmured.
I watched as though it was an out of body experience. Alpha Raymond seemed enchanted by some strange spell.
“She goes nowhere until this matter is settled,” I said. “I am the Alpha of this mansion and she has no place here.”
“You are still my son,” he countered.
The muscles of my jaw tightened. This was madness. I didn’t know what Rosaleen had on my father, but she was definitely blackmailing him. There was no way he’d want a child that he didn't look for all these years. Alpha Raymond didn’t care about any children.
I started to say something then decided otherwise. I walked out of the room, and out of the house. Alpha Raymond was losing his mind completely.
My phone rang in my pocket. It was Evelyn. I picked the call immediately.
“Where are you?” she asked.
“I have some news,” I said. “Anna is here, and Alpha Raymond has taken her as his.”
“What?”
“Rosaleen too.”
“I was calling to talk about Rosaleen,” she said. “You have to warn Alpha Raymond to stay away from Rosaleen. Alpha Dover is filing against her for murder, blackmail and kidnapping.”
I knew Alpha Dover. He was a congressman, and a very big rival of my father. He was certainly going to use whatever he could to ruin my father’s reputation.
“How did you know about this?” i asked.
“He invited me,” she said. “He wants me as a witness against Rosaleen.”
“You can’t,” I said. “It is not Rosaleen he is after. He is after alpha Raymond.”
