Chapter 273: The Alpha King's Rejected Mate
Orian’s pov
"What the fuck?!" I gripped at my wound staring at him wide-eyed because I struggled to find more intelligent words.
"You have been lying to me!" He growled with his eyes turning bright red blazing in anger, "I am fine Nexus, it's just a cut. Don't worry about it, it's nothing. You are just overthinking, the wound is healing perfectly normal."
"I don't know what you are talking about." I feigned ignorance while clutching tightly to the gash which was healing at the slowest rate proving his doubts.
"Oh, you do!" He shook his head and pulled out his handkerchief to clean the dagger, "Why is your wound still bleeding?"
"I am missing Amara, my hormones are all over the place?"
"Quit lying to me!" He barked moving his hands and the next thing I was being thrown across the room and slammed against the bookshelf. I came crashing down with the broken wood, a pile of books falling on my head and pain searing through my back.
"That's it!" I inhaled and moved my unaffected hand towards his direction and with ease, I levitated him and had him suspended in the air upside down.
"Put me down Orian." He scoffed with a frown, "Now."
"No."
"Please Orian, put me down."
"Didn't ask you to beg."
"I will do anything, put me down, I had a heavy breakfast!"
"Recite the words from Queen premiere 'I go up"
"Any other thing."
"Now!" I barked making my way back to my seat and pulling out my phone, setting the camera so I could bitch to him about it later.
He took in a deep breath and with humiliation written on his face, he began, "I go up." He mumbled, "Up I go."
"Louder bitch!" I laughed zooming in to capture his face.
"I go up." He began again, "Up I go, am I to go up-"
"Wait!" I stopped him, "Clap while singing with a smile on your face, you look like you aren't happy doing this."
"How the fuck am I supposed to be happy?!"
"Drop the attitude or I would make you recite Mary had a little lamb!"
"I go up!" He clapped with a grin on his face, "Up I go! Am I to go up? Yes I am, is he to go up? Yes, he is! Are we to go up? Yes, we are, up up we go."
"Oh, your voice sounds terrible." I rolled my eyes, "Mary had a little lamb, go."
"Orian you cannot be serious!"
"Stay up there then." I made a move to stand up but he protested making me sit back down, "Go on." I raised my hand signaling him with a smirk curling on my lips.
"Mary had a little lamb its fleece was white as snow."
"Louder!"
"And everywhere that Mary went the lamb was sure to go, it-"
"What's happening?" At the words I immediately released my hold on Nexus and looked at the door to see Aileen staring at us with a look of horror on her face while Nexus fell to the ground with a terrible thud and I could swear that I heard a bone crack.
"Nothing much." I stood up smoothing my shirt while quickly tucking my phone away with a satisfactory grin knowing that I had captured everything plus the disastrous fall on camera, "Did you need something?"
"I wanted to know if Nexus is staying for lunch."
"I want st-"
"He will not be staying for lunch." I cut him short as he attempted to tell Aileen his preference, "Please excuse me." I gave her a curt nod and she threw us both a knowing look before backing away and closing the door.
"You!" He turned to me immediately with a wagging finger and eyes blazing in anger, "Son of a bitch!" He moved towards me but yelled out in pain as he clutched to his neck which seemed affected by the fall, "I will strangle you."
"Empty threats, you can't reach my neck." I laughed getting up from my seat when a sharp pain shot through my lower back sending me to fall back with a yelp.
"Orian?" Nexus sounded alarmed as he rushed to my side, "You are bleeding!" He placed his hands on my shoulders and forced me towards him with his gaze fixated on my torso and I looked down to see blood seeping through the white of my shirt drowning every excuse I had come up with when he questioned me.
"It's nothing." I immediately reached for my coat and pulled it around myself but he wasn't buying it, "It's nothing Nexus."
"It's worse than I thought, your older wounds are bleeding and your fresh wounds take time to heal." He noted, "You are practically dying.
"You should leave." I stood up trying to avoid telling him what was going on and began to walk towards the windows, "I need time alone and I need to take care of myself. Today is also Imelda's-"
"It's Amara isn't it?" He spoke halting me in my tracks and I stood quietly with my fists balled by my side knowing I couldn't escape this conversation, "It's her."
"It's complicated." I turned around to face him, "I didn't mean for it to go like this."
"And yet you wouldn't talk about it so we would find a solution!" He yelled running his fingers through his hair, "Do you want me to go to Hector for answers?!"
I shook my head knowing that would worsen matters and give Hector leverage cause this is the only thing that he doesn't know about me and with the look on Nexus's face, He sure was determined to find answers and if I didn't give them to him, someone else will.
