Chapter 139 Let's Proceed with Litigation

Chapter 139 Let's Proceed with Litigation

When Amelia left that backdoor in the contract, she knew this day would come.

So she had found a lawyer well in advance.

The divorce agreement had William's signature on it.

If things went smoothly, it could go directly through the company's approval process.

Rhys took the copy of the agreement, looking troubled.

The original was still in Amelia's hands.

William also had a copy, so there was no need to worry about forgery—Rhys could verify it.

"Mrs. Brown, this..."

Before Rhys could finish, the sound of high heels approached.

Then Felicity's voice came: "Rhys, Amelia? What are you two doing here?"

Rhys immediately put away the copy.

Since Felicity had hosted that wine tasting event, she had officially joined the Brown Group.

She hadn't entered the finance department, but continued managing affairs related to Seraphim.

At this moment, Felicity was holding a document and walked straight up to them.

"What's going on?" Felicity looked at Rhys.

Then she turned to Amelia: "William is sick and hospitalized. What are you doing here?"

Whether William was sick or not had nothing to do with what she needed to do.

Coming here today to handle property matters was something she had planned many days ago, and the lawyer had been arranged long before.

Amelia didn't want to deal with Felicity or get too entangled with her. She just wanted to quickly and smoothly take back what belonged to the Martinez family.

So she signaled to Rhys to talk aside.

"Don't go!" Felicity blocked them, looking between Amelia and Rhys. "What shady business are you discussing!"

Amelia looked at Felicity and said, "Nothing shady. I just want to separate my things from the Brown Group."

"Including that department?" Felicity demanded.

"Of course," Amelia replied.

"What?" Felicity laughed. "Amelia, are you dreaming? It already belongs to the Brown Group. You want to separate it? It's not yours anymore!"

"Felicity." Amelia took a step forward, looking coldly at her. "The division of property between William and me is none of your business."

"You!" Felicity's face flushed with anger.

But Amelia ignored her and looked at Rhys: "Let's continue."

Felicity was obviously unwilling to let it go. She glared at Rhys, forbidding him to speak.

She set aside the document in her hand, then took out her phone and called William.

"I don't believe it, Amelia. William would never let you take it away."

Amelia glanced at Felicity's phone.

Rhys also said, "Mrs. Amelia Brown, your matter must be personally reviewed by Mr. William Brown. Even with this document, it needs Mr. William Brown's approval."

Amelia and Efrain exchanged glances, understanding each other's meaning.

They had anticipated this—the division would need William's personal consent.

It's just that it would be better if they could go directly through the process.

Thinking this, Amelia looked at Rhys: "Please call me Amelia from now on."

Rhys opened his mouth, but finally compromised: "Yes, Ms. Martinez."

Felicity rolled her eyes.

She muttered "putting on an act."

As soon as she finished speaking, Felicity's call was answered.

William's voice came through: "What is it?"

Felicity immediately spoke: "William, Amelia says she wants to take that department away. She's in the office right now. Did you know?"

William was silent on the other end.

Amelia stood there, quietly watching Felicity's phone on speaker.

Waiting for William's response.

The silence lasted about ten seconds. Felicity finally couldn't help but urge: "William?"

"She can't take it away." Finally, William said, "Tell her, I said so."

The call ended.

Felicity's face showed a triumphant smile: "Did you hear that?"

Amelia calmly glanced at Rhys.

"Then we'll proceed with litigation."

Very calm, as if this were just another ordinary matter.

Finally, she glanced at Efrain.

Then the two turned and left.

Before the elevator doors closed, Felicity's voice drifted over from afar—

"Amelia, don't even think about it!"

They remained silent all the way until they left the Brown Group and reached the plaza outside. Only then did Efrain speak: "Ms. Martinez, actually we had anticipated this situation. It's normal for the Brown Group to refuse to let go. Next, we just need to proceed with litigation. Based on the materials you've provided, whether through litigation negotiation or purchase, the probability of getting back what you want is quite high."

"It's just that compared to going directly through the division process, litigation takes time."

Amelia looked at the traffic flowing back and forth ahead.

She nodded gently.

Indeed, from the beginning, she had been prepared for litigation.

It's just that he refused so decisively, without any room for negotiation—that was something she hadn't expected.

During all those days and nights in the past, he had said over and over that the Martinez family was hers, just temporarily placed in the Brown Group. He said he would help her investigate Jasper's cause of death, that he would help restore the Martinez family's glory.

But now, he wouldn't even let go of her own things.

Sure enough, men's promises are all lies.

Fortunately, she hadn't placed much hope in him from the start.

Coming here today was just a necessary procedure.

"Efrain, I'll have to trouble you with what comes next," Amelia said.

"It's my job," Efrain nodded. "But Ms. Martinez, you need to be prepared for a long battle."

Amelia nodded.

The two parted ways, and Amelia returned to her car.

Just as she sat in the driver's seat, her phone vibrated.

She took out her phone—it was a message:

[I have an experienced divorce lawyer here. I'll have him come see you this afternoon.]

A moment later, another message came:

[Found out from Felicity's social media post. Just offering help, no strings attached. Don't worry.]

It was York.

Attached was a screenshot of Felicity's post.

Felicity: Slunk away with her tail between her legs~

The image showed Amelia's back as she left.

...

On the other side.

William also saw Felicity's post.

Frowning slightly, he opened his chat with Felicity.

William: Delete the post. Don't tell anyone about today.

Felicity complained a bit but still complied.

William found his chat with Amelia.

He typed: I didn't tell her to post that.

But in the end, he didn't press send.

Even if he said that, would she believe him?

Forget it.

His fever had already broken. After one night, he had recovered.

When Felicity called him, his assistant was processing his discharge paperwork.

The Martinez family belonged to Amelia—he had always known that.

But he wouldn't let go.

Rationality returned.

He had thought everything through.

If it went to litigation, the simplified procedure was 3 months, the ordinary procedure 6 months.

Plus first and second trials.

Enough to cover those 5 months.

As Harold had said last night, Amelia was angry.

During these five months, he had to stay by Isabella's side. He wouldn't let Amelia go too far.

After five months, he would tell her the whole truth.

...

Time flew by quickly, and soon the finals of The Sound of Heaven were approaching.
