Chapter 115 Proposal

Chapter 115 Proposal

She stepped out of their bedroom and knocked on the nanny’s door.

“When you left earlier, was my husband still there?” she asked the nanny.

“When I left, they were still there, ma’am.”

“Is that so,” she said, her shoulders dropping. “Is it okay if I move Mirielle to your room? I just need to check on BK.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

The baby’s crib had wheels, so she didn’t have a hard time moving her daughter to Nanny’s room. She kissed her on the cheek before leaving.

She simply put on a coat and exited their suite.

There were only a few people in the hallway since it was already late at night. She was sure the guests of Hotel de Astin were all asleep.

When she got outside, she saw a few people swimming in the sea. She chose to walk by the shoreline to see who was there. She was already near the path leading to her husband’s house, but she still couldn’t find him.

She was about to enter the small forested area when she noticed something floating up ahead. Her heart suddenly tightened. There was no one around, and only that floating figure in the sea could be seen. She could see it clearly because the moon was illuminating it.

She took a few steps toward it, praying her suspicion was wrong. Just wrong!

Her hand flew to her mouth the moment she recognized the body floating in the water. The sea was still, eerily quiet. As quiet as the person drifting there.

She hurried toward the shore. “BK!”

She didn’t bother taking off her coat. She waded into the water and approached him.

The board shifted and drifted forward, making her follow it.

“BK, what the hell! Don’t joke around like this!” Her nerves were spiraling. He wasn’t even moving. Not even his eyes. So she shook him hard.

She let out a breath of relief when his eyes finally opened. Their gazes locked when he turned toward her. He quickly slid off the surfboard.

“Baby,” he said, glancing at what she was wearing. “What are you doing here? It’s late. And why did you go into the water? You might get a cold,” he said worriedly.

Her husband was so sweet. But damn, he scared her to death!

“Why are you sleeping on a surfboard? Do you even know how dangerous that is?” she snapped.

“It calms me, so I decided to take a nap—”

“Even if it’s dangerous? What about me and your kids if something happens to you? You said you’d marry me again! And here you are acting like you’re trying to die! You idiot!”

She saw a smile tug at his lips. He let go of the board and pulled her close.

“Did I hear that right? You’ll marry me?”

“Yes. Supposedly. But now? No! You scared the hell out of me!” Her husband only laughed, which annoyed her even more.

“Damn it, baby! I’m sorry. Do I need to sleep on the surfboard again?”

She sighed. So he’d do it again just to make her repeat it?

She turned and walked toward the shore. Clearly, her irritation was fading because he was already joking.

“Oh, c’mon, baby! I’m just kidding!” She knew he followed because she heard his hurried steps splashing behind her.

“Fine, go ahead and kill yourself there if that makes you happy!” she said, looking back at him. She was still irritated. He was already climbing out of the water.

“Hey! I was just joking, baby. Why would I do that, huh? I won’t leave you. I didn’t mean to scare you. I swear.”

“I’ve been waiting for you, do you even know that? And you were just here, relaxing, while I was worried sick because you weren’t home yet!”

He walked up to her and held her hand. “I’m sorry. It won’t happen again. Don’t worry, you were on my mind the whole time I was on that board. I was thinking of how to convince you to marry me again. That’s all.”

“Then why did it take you so long to open your eyes? You heard my voice, didn’t you?”

“Yeah. But I thought I was dreaming. Then I realized, why would my board move when the sea was so calm? That’s when I figured it out. Baby, forgive me, please.”

“Okay, I forgive you. Let’s go home. I’m sleepy.”

She was about to turn when he stopped her. “So… you’re really going to marry me, baby?”

“Of course, BK. With two kids of our own, do you really think I’d still play hard to get? And I’m not letting your proposal go to waste. So don’t you ever try to die. Clear?”

His eyes sparkled, making her smile. She knew he was happy with what he heard.

Smiling, he pulled her into his arms. She rested her hands on his chest.

“Thank you so much, baby.” He cupped her cheeks with both hands. “Nothing like that will ever happen, baby. I’d never do that. I’m going to marry you. I want to be with you until our hair turns white—you and our kids. I still want to be Mirielle’s first dance. And we’ll walk her down the aisle together, baby. I’m not leaving you. Ever. I promise.”

“Oh, BK,” she whispered, hugging him tightly. He hugged her back.

“I love you so much, baby,” he murmured.

“I love you so much too, BK, even if you’re stubborn. Even if you lie, I still love you.” She felt his shoulders shake with silent laughter.

“Our relationship wouldn’t be thrilling if I didn’t lie or break a few rules,” he said with a grin.

“You’re unbelievable!” she said, swatting his shoulder.

He only smiled and gazed at her under the moonlight.

As she expected, he pulled her in again, and this time, he kissed her, soft at first, then turning hungry. She didn’t know how long it lasted.
All she knew was that when they finally pulled away, they were both breathless and smiling.
