Chapter 13: Devil Bees

"Shit, Devil Bees." Chiffu cursed as he recognized what they were immediately he recognized them.

"So many shitty names we've heard since we arrived at this shitty world, what the hell are Devil Bees again." Christopher was frustrated with all that had happened to them in this short while.

From exhausting his stamina to being sucked into a portal and then being tagged as an intruder, then partaking in the betrayal clash between a stranger and his clan and now facing some Devil bees, he didn't ever rest before another thing occurred.

Chiffu rolled his eyes as he looked at Christopher then explained.

"These devil bees are a very rare race that could only be found in this desert, but even in this desert, it's not necessarily possible you come across them."

"They are said to be the guardians of the Enigma rift, but they rarely show up, they aren't necessarily a threat if they move solo, but are even dreaded by even middle-class evolvers despite being only at the peak of unevolved at most."

"You would still be considered safe when none of their strikes have it because when it hits, it's the endgame for you," Chiffu explained as he brought something out from the bag on his chest.

"The way you say this thing makes it a bit more terrifying than they look, but who am I not to be careful," Christopher said that the bees looked like normal bees except for the fact that they were at least two times the average bees they knew and had red eyes that seemed to thirst for blood.

"Just be careful, look I can't handle them all, they are too much for me to handle, but this treasure would be able to draw them to one of its categories, that means the ones too strong for you won't come for you and the ones too weak for you won't also come for you."

"This is a one-time treasure, so do well not to waste it and also try as much as to save your petty lives," Chiffu said as he crushed the ball-like treasure.

They all nodded and got serious, Christopher quickly transformed into a Zombie with his beast soul.

Beast soul swords tested in Sarah's palms, and a beast soul arrow that could regenerate was also found with Valerie, it was not hers at first as when they killed in the forest with the help of Chiffu she claimed a pair of swords that were beast souls and Sarah obtained an arrow, so she had to switch beast souls with the latter with the help of Chiffu.

Evangeline was blessed with a beast soul flowery rope. Which could be extended and retracted at will. The two brothers Victony and Scott obtained a lance and an expandable shield respectively.

Khan also gained a sword, which he wielded as the spirit led him because he didn't have swordsmanship skills, unlike Sarah.

The remaining six survivors; Spencer, Harry, Augustina, Jones, Christine, and Phil all had beast souls that ranged from crossbows to armors, to shape-shifting beast souls, to even some velocity boots that quicken speed.

Now it was every man for himself as Chiffu faced the ones that were above level 12 since Christopher could handle creatures two levels stronger than him and with his beast soul, he was immune to paralytic and external poisonous attacks to a certain extent, so he could fight without caution.

Not long after the devil bees arrived where they were and they all spread out into different little battlefields across the desert.

"Remember, don't let them land a strike," Chiffu warned them again. As his signatory greenish poisonous gas covered him and increased his battle power, his battlefield was soon filled with encephalic matter as he slaughtered his way through the hoard unimpeded.

This same kind of scene was seen on Christopher's and Sarah's battlefield; utter dominance. Christopher was said to prevail with the combo of his decisive attacks, his immunity, and the vitality of his beast soul, while Sarah was outstanding because of her great swordsmanship that seemed to be polished after years of training.

Valerie although prevailing, wasn't as exceptional as Chiffu, Christopher, and Sarah. She didn't have that touch of utter dominance but she also dominated.

Victony and Scott worked hand in hand and they seemed to be doing exceedingly well as they had some brotherly chemistry with each other. The lance compensated for the shield and the shield defended them both.

Together, they did exceptionally well like it was all a video game except that their lives were really at stake here.

Evangeline could be said to be a bit even with her opponents as she didn't seem to be pressured by the bees and her rope interloomed and formed a shield around her and it kept on attack under her commands.

She couldn't get hurt but wasn't so fast with annihilating them as the rope didn't have a wide surface area that could crush many at a time, so it could only serve as a whip.

Khan was also in a similar state, except that he was being pressured.

The rest were all at a disadvantage as they could only defend themselves from getting hit, except for Christine who possessed an armor beast soul that covered her entirely with no gap that felt like another indestructible skin that the bees couldn't penetrate, so she was moving unhindered and was said to dominate on a level similar to Valerie.

They all would have been in a worse state, assuming Chiffu had not taught them how to imbue mana on weapons that served as extensions.

As all this happened, Chiffu was thinking deeply as he thought.

"I would have been able to go solo on these devil bees and prevail, but I have to observe this strange power called a beast soul, it seems to be stronger than I expected that's it's even causing trash not to lose to devil bees."

"Worst of it all is that it could be swapped like scrolls and it could be imbued with mana like hand-made weapons. I don't even know whether I'll classify it under a scroll, a weapon, or a skill."

"But I must say it's a treasure, and it's something I can't plunder which means these brats would have some extra cards up their sleeves when facing their opponents."

When Christopher and the rest told Chiffu about the beast souls they acquired, I glint of confusion appeared in his eyes which disappeared as soon as they appeared and went unnoticed by Christopher and the others.

Now that he had seen what these so-called beast souls could do, it was high time he won this battle and saved them the stress and time.

With a battle cry, the green gas that surrounded him burst into flames that immediately incinerated all the Devil bees that surrounded him.

He appeared at Evangeline's front with blinding after his bees had been incinerated and incinerated hers too.

He did the same for all of them and left Christopher and Sarah to finish off theirs themselves.

Shortly after they finished off theirs only to find the rest of them looking at them. They noticed that they were still panting but it seemed to have been a while since they finished off theirs, they weren't conscious of their environment as they focused solely on their enemies and they didn't want to slack off to avoid their fates being sealed off.

Christopher and Sarah exchanged glances as they were confused before Sarah spoke up.

"Were we that weak that y'all seemed to wait for us a bit?"

"No you guys aren't weak but the strongest among us, he had a burst of power that incinerated the bees around him and came to help us out with ours also."

"He left you guys out because he saw that you guys had utter dominion in your respective battlefields and he felt you would soon finish them off," Valerie explained the situation as she pointed at Chiffu.

"I need some answers, old man, why did you allow our lives to be at stake when you had the power to have fought them all by yourself." Christopher started to fume especially when he thought that a little girl such as Evangeline also had to go through such a thing when they had someone strong enough.

"Learn to know your place brat, as far as I can remember, I'm not obliged to protect you guys and besides I did it for your benefit, it is to temper you guys for the dangerous world beyond the rift."

"Besides didn't it also increase your soul power and battle experience?"

"Always know that there's no free food in the universe, and there are even girls younger than her that have been in more dangerous situations, danger doesn't respect age." Chiffu reprimanded.

Christopher noticed his soul power and felt embarrassed, he just remembered that this wasn't the luxurious world they were once living in. He gave Chiffu an apologetic look.

"We are about to get to the Enigma rift, prepare and brace yourselves up for the world you'll be entering now," Chiffu advised as he looked up front.
