√FIFTY-NINE.

**CHAPTER FIFTY-NINE.**

As a werecat I didn't have regenerative abilities or even super fast healing like other shifters might. I was only blessed with nine lives, now eight. Seriously, fuck Drake!

However, the good thing about using one of my lives to cheat death is that one could come back as new, without any blemishes or even scar. As I stood opposite the mirror next to Draken's room, I couldn't stop staring at the mark on my neck. It was the only one refusing to heal, unlike the other marks Draken had left on me. Even my nipples had healed, although they were still a bit sensitive.

With a resigned sigh, I placed a bandaid over it and adjusted my white turtle neck. I was already dressed for school. After all, it'd been two days since I hadn't been in school. In those two days, Drake had found Judy's parents and given her body over to them. He'd also told them about the comeback of shifters. In those two days, I had managed to force Draken into watching the whole Harry Potter series.

Well, he was now a fan. But what could I say? Harry Potter just had a way of letting people get lost in its fantasy world.

“Ready, Eline?” Draken entered back into the room. He was already dressed for school in a simple white top, a flannel shirt, and a black trousers. Even dressed simply, he looked very handsome and sexy!

I nodded as I moved away from the mirror, tugging slightly at my short leather skirt. I was also wearing a leather boot…let's just say I was aiming for a change of style. I just knew Karina would be very proud of me right now wherever she was.

I let my curls down as I went to pick up my bag from the bed, and together with Draken I left for school. I headed for my department, leaving Draken to go to his, and I didn't miss my first class which just happened to be statistics. I had It twice a week. Great. My worst subject.

The class hadn't started as I slipped in, taking a sit at the back. I didn't miss the glances and waves I got from my course mates, but I ignored it all. I knew they were only interested in me now that I was dating Draken Gallagher.

“Are you trying to make a fashion statement this morning?” I knew that voice all to well even without looking.

I groaned as I took my eyes up to see Drake Gallagher standing before me, wearing a smile that oddly made him foolishly handsome. Well, the devil was always handsome also. “Please don't tell me you're offering this class too.”

“Well, I am,” he replied, taking a seat next to me. I noticed how almost everyone in class had their phones out, taking pictures of drake or even the both of us together. People were also gossiping. “It's good to know I have a friend offering the same course as me.”

I winced at the word ‘friend’, but said nothing about it. “Aren't you meant to be a freshman since you just resumed?”

“The dean offered to place me in the same level as Draken, that would only make things fair since we're twins, besides I have wits,” he answered efficiently, ignoring the stares he got as he brought out a laptop and placed it on the desk. “What other classes are you taking? I wouldn't want to be alone at the other classes.”

I rolled my eyes. “Look around,” I gestured around the class, showing him everyone who couldn't stop staring at him…or at us as we spoke. “everyone wants to be your friend. Just take a pick. It's not like it's a must we should be friends.”

“You're Draken's girlfriend, it's only proper I should get along with you since Draken's my twin,” he said, starting up his laptop.

I passed him a look.

“Stop looking at me like that,” he said without even looking at me.

“I think you're forgetting the fact that I outed your relationship with Topper to everyone,” I had to remind him in case he'd forgotten.

Drake shrugged. “I didn't mind it. It's not like I ever wanted it to be a secret. If anything, you did me a favour of breaking those two apart.”

“Why? Now you think you have a chance with Topper?”

He laughed as his system turned on. He immediately navigated his way to solitaire and he began playing the game. “Topper is the one searching for a chance with me, Eline, not me. I always get anything I want. If I wanted Topper to be with me, then he would already.”

I cringed. Their relationship was one I knew I would never, ever, understand. It was enough to give me a headache. “You remind me of Raphael.”

“That jock from Cortland? I'll take that as a compliment,” Drake laughed again as he placed his full concentration on the game he was playing.

I couldn't tear my eyes away from Drake as he played his game. Then, I remembered something. The words he'd said the last time I'd confronted him at Topper's apartment. *“…None of you are. You aren't cursed with the gift of immortality. I couldn't care less about anyone's life, because at the end it's only going to be me left—”* What exactly did he mean by that? Was he…no, he couldn't. No one was immortal. People died eventually, if not by unfortunate accidents, but by natural causes. No human or shifter was immortal. He was probably just…lying?

“And thank you,” I said after a while.

He looked at me, raising a brow. He looked so similar to Draken like that, only disparity being his eye colour. “For what?”

“Taking Judy body back to her family,” I whispered, not wanting anyone to hear.

“Oh, that. It's fine,” he said as he placed his concentration back on his game.

I looked away from him and brought out my books from my bag, placing them on the desk. I rested my hand underneath my chin, waiting for the lecturer to enter into the class.

“Oh, my! Drake Gallagher,” A loud feminine voice shot from behind the class and I turned around to see Amanda running towards where Drake was seated next to me.

Of course, it just had to be her of all people.

I rolled my eyes and watched Drake look up from his game, a frown on his face as he watched Amanda who was now standing before us.

“Do you remember me?” She asked, a huge grin on her face as she spoke loudly, earning the attention of everyone in the class. Of course she wanted everyone to think she was close with everyone in the Gallagher family.

“No,” Drake replied immediately, taking his attention back to his game on his laptop. His response earned a series of laughter from everyone in class, including me. It was satisfying to see Amanda being shut down like that.

**Author Note: Even as the Author, I seriously can not stand Amanda. There are times I think of just throwing her out of the story without any explanation. Lol. Hello, everyone! My cat, Lily, scratched my hand today. Her nails are getting longer, but I have no motivation to even cut them because I'd feel like I'm committing a crime against her. Sighs. I love my baby and her long nails, anyways.**

**FUN FACT: Eline’s name was actually meant to be Elaine, but I kept forgetting the ‘e’ when writing, so I stuck with ‘Eline’**
